Their Arrival

This was one of the most important lessons it had learned from its predecessors.

After determining the situation, strangely his little friend seems to have subconsciously altered his actions to intervene, it felt thrilled while watching a human sh*t show, anticipating what was going to happen next like a child.

Its mood had been piqued, especially the outcome of the experiments. Also, he was making use of this opportunity to gather more intel on the ages.

"Dolce."

Within the dark of the night, a streak of dark red brilliance from the broken sword shone with crimson.

Outside the village loud sound of horses, neighing could be heard within the atmosphere. However, that wasn't the only audible noise that could be heard, cries of what seemed to be humans and confounded pleas resonated loudly.

Levi who just woke up, used the back of his hand which was clean and rubbed off the grogginess on his eyes before he yawned sluggishly.

The loud noise he thought was a bit reverie, had been what had wakened him from his sleep.

However, that was before he saw the blazing fire outside his window. The trotting of horses, the sound of ramming doors, and the unending shouts which kept on lingering in his ear like the screaming of a woman in labor.

"What's going on? Is this some kind of a nightmare?" Levi was flabbergasted he was unable to make sense or understand the meaning of what he was seeing, at least that was before he got up and open the front door that led outside his house.

"What did you come out for? Get back in there!" The moment Levi left his room and opened the outside door, he was immediately pushed back in a rough manner by a middle-aged man standing by the door.

The confounded look on his face, made him look up at his Papa's expression which was filled with a sense of grim solemness that, he had never seen before.

Before he could obediently return to his room, a tall, fierce steed had suddenly rammed into his house.

Mounting the black horse was a steel knight sported with black armor and cold eyes within his helmet. The luxurious armor made out of steel rendered Levi fluster and in a daze.

For a few seconds he was unable to react, for this usually belonged to the lords who were knights or some wealthy family heirloom belonging to the nobility, such as barons or counts.

Even the baron who was closest to his village might not necessarily, be able to parade as he pleases with anything of such quality and value.

Levi stared dumbfoundedly, his eyes were both filled with fear and awe.

However, he felt his heart skip a bit when he noticed something unusual, about this knights crest plated armor region, on it was an infamous embroidered sword gently crested on the armor— this was the crest belonging to the Holy Shrine!

'How...H....how could it be the Shrine? The Holy Shrine! What are they doing here?'

Levi staggered momentarily, it had to be said that these Shrine knights used to be Levi's idols, but what he was witnessing in front of him and what they were doing now was just shattering his dreams and the love he had for them.

"Esteemed Lord, may I know…"

Levi's papa gulp down his stream of saliva mustering all the courage he could at the moment and approached the steel knight.

Barely, within the pace of uttering his hurriedly formulated words, he was aggressively sent staggering to the ground step.

"I'm only saying this once. All residents are to gather at the altar, this instant."

The steel knight's cold voice sounded like the tales of an elder, whispering words of fear, as he suddenly ram through Levi's front door.

What followed was the sound of trunks and boxes being rummaged through. Levi's siblings were also chased outside in the process.

Following his papa and the rest of his family, Levi left through the front door and headed to the heart of the village, where they were tasked to seek the altar.

It was only at this point that Levi realized something, and was overwhelmed by what he saw, it wasn't just his family alone who were outside, or were flustered but the entire village as well!

The other villagers had also been expelled from their homes, as they stood randomly. The confounded muttering of voices, children crying could be said to have converged like a stream towards the center of the village.

"Wha... What's going on?"

Even as he walked, Levi still had no idea of what exactly was happening. All he knew was that his whole family had their hands tightly locked onto each other, to the point that he felt like his hands were being squeezed off their blood, making his hands sour and all sweaty.

In front of him was his papa, whose expression was dark and full of uneasiness.

Even when his mama had died a few years ago, and when they had lost a few farm cows, or tax soldiers had come to the village, Levi had never seen such an expression on his Papa's face before.

For the first time in his life, Levi thought the numerous villagers gathering were like herded sheep in some sort of farm ranch. The steel knights raised their fire torches and as they moved and made their horses surround them in a parading manner, shining brightly in the dark of the night.

Around these steel knights, Levi could see teenagers and middle-aged men dressing in their Shrine robes.

The more he looked the more he realized, how extravagant the attire they sported were. And to sum it up, all of them must be amazing people.

"Cough cough… cough cough…" The eerie atmosphere, as well as the arrival of the shrine officials and knights, made Levi's heart pace increase from extreme frighten, even though he had no reason why.
