Chapter 17 Illusory World
Itetia, who had been in the shower entered the room at this point. She had wrapped herself in a white towel and seven colored droplets adorned her hair. She was about to open her mouth when the two women placed their index fingers on their mouths and silently signalled her to be quiet.
Her mouth closed and she saw Damien who was sound asleep on the sofa.
She used a second towel in her hands to dry her hair as she made her way towards Dark Phoenix.
"I need some clothes to change into." She said.
"Go into my bedroom and search through the closet." Dark said.
'I normally won't allow anyone into my bedroom but I cant afford to let this bimbo stay with Damien alone.' Dark thought as she diverted a little bit if her attention to Lino.
Itetia went away after talking to Dark. Their conversation was carried out through whispers so Lino didn't catch anything.
Damien, who was leaning back, sat up straight as he awakened from the short nap.
Dark and Lino simultaneously turned off their devices and put them away before shifting their attentions to him.
"I have been meaning to ask, what is that crystal ball atop the stand?" He asked as he pointed at the transparent crystal ball a to the stand directly opposite him.
"Oh! That... Is a device used to enter a virtual world. Let me show you." Dark explained as she stood up and went near the stand.
She placed her fair palm on it and it lit up.
A spherical ripple was released and covered the entire room upon which all three of them felt something trying to connect to their minds.
"Allow the connection." Said Dark as she moved back to her seat and closed her eyes.
Damien looked at Lino and found that she too was looking at him.
Virtual devices existed in the universe but this one looked like it was top notch as the ones outside couldn't affect ones who had started forming their divinity, in other words demigods and above.
Damien closed his eyes and allowed the connection prompting Lino to follow suit.
Upon closing his eyes, Damien felt like he was in a tunnel filled with seven colored light. He looked around and took in the unique sight.
He checked his body thoroughly upon which he breathed in a sigh of relief.
'It is amazing. It is capable of fully simulating me and my abilities!' He exclaimed in his mind as he played around with a blob of blood in his right hand.
'Let's see where this tunnel goes to.' He thought as he started moving towards the front. He had looked behind him but only darkness could be seen. Only a point of light could be seen coming from the front.
"It seems we were separated." Damien muttered as the point of light widened in his vision.
He blinked rapidly to try and adjust to the light upon which greener entered his sight.
Green plants could be seen outside as he reached the entrance where the light was coming from.
Giant trees with vines hanging off them entered his sight and the green light given off by the foliage dazzled the eyes. The trees were about ten meters in width and do tall that he couldn't see their crowns down on the ground. The good thing was that they had a wide space between then even though some of their branches intersected. They also had sparse leaves allowing light to pass through. A gentle breeze ruffled his coat.
The tunnel seemed to have been created in a mountain as tall as Everest from Earth by his standards but it was a little more like a hill here.
He took off his glasses, widened his arms, and breathed in deeply.
'Haaaah... I missed this. Its too beautiful.'
"Damien!" A familiar voice came from his side interrupting him.
A head was cautiously sticking out if another cave and its owner was looking at him. The pink hair gave it away as Lino.
She exited and ran towards him.
Dark, too popped out of another cave and ran towards him.
They left a black and pink trail respectively as they raced towards him competing to see who reached first. Even though Dark had come out of a cave further from him and Lino had a headstart, she came first since she was a goddess.
"Your competition is interesting. It seems that you have finally managed to see perfection in my charms. Look at you all racing here to be in the presence of my perfect self. Hahaha... It truly is satisfying." Damien chuckled as he said.
A vein popped on Dark who had been the first to arrive. She glared at him until he embarrassedly turned around.
"Isn't it dangerous to be here in your night gown. By the way, how do you tell its night? After all the suns are perpetually shining and no moons exist." He asked trying to divert the topic.
Lino had arrived just a bit later than Dark Phoenix but had still caught onto the conversation.
"Well, I just wear it when am going to sleep. Their is no night in Pantheon." Dark answered.
"Tell us more about this world." Lino asked impolitely.
Dark was going to ignore her but seeing the look of inquiry in Damien's eyes, she reluctantly explained.
"This world was created by the Illusion god king. He saw that Pantheon city was only composed of buildings and decided that there should be a place for the occupants of the city to be able to unwind and so this place came to be. He only created the landscape and the flora. The fauna was left to the people who came here. As long as you have extensive knowledge of an animal or insect, you can use your imagination to bring it into this world." She explained.
"Okay, let me try." Damien said as he closed his eyes.
[Pop]
Two pink plump things appeared on the ground in front of them.
'I can finally get to see pigs from Earth.' Damien thought as his opened eyes stared at the pink things.
"What are these?" Lino and Dark asked simultaneously.
"They are called pigs. They are animals from my home planet. Now! You two! Go and create more pigs. You are pigdam and pigeve, and from henceforth, you will be the pork progenitors." He named them as he chased them off into the under growth.
Lino and Dark giggled at the names and his self satisfied expression.
"Are there any dangers in this world?" Lino asked as she vigilantly looked around.
"This entire piece of land is shaped like a disk with a lake in the middle. The sun is directly positioned above the lake and if you want to reach the lake, you can follow that direction. There are many beasts here both predators and prey. You should always remember, we, as outsiders also fall in the same category. Demigod level and god level beasts exist here. They start off as mere weaklings like the pigs you created and then devour others adding to their strings until they reach the god level upon which they can leave this world and manifest in the real one." Dark explained causing them to widen their eyes.
"You mean they can exit!!?" Damien exclaimed the question.
"Yes, and they gain intelligence upon reaching six strings so they are cunning. The people who grew up in Pantheon lack combat experience except for the rare few so most of them gather at the center near the lake." Dark explained.
"Let's head for the lake and then we could try to hunt down a demigod level lifeform." Damien said.
He lightly tapped on the ground and jumped up onto a tree branch. The two women did the same. The trio headed towards the sun moving along the branches.
"When are you going to decorate the place?" Dark asked.
"Hmm, when we exit this place, am going to call a company to give the interior of the properties a make over and then advertise. After that, all we have to do is wait for customers." Damien said.
"It will be better if you remove your heels Lino. If we get into a battle they might cause you to make a mistake." Damien said as he looked at Dark's bare feet.
"Okay." Lino said as she abruptly stomped hard on a branch shattering the heels into multiple pieces.
"It is an illusory world so they still exist in reality." Dark said.
"I missed this. Being surrounded by nature is a good thing." Damien once again marveled at the place.
"According to what I heard about you, you spent all your time hunting down evil elemental string weavers and slaughtering them. Am even wondering how you manage to restrain your killing intent." Lino wondered.
Dark was surprised as her eyes visibly widened upon that piece of information.
"You never took breaks?" She asked as she looked around vigilantly while they continued to move among the branches.
"Yes. Normal life was boring. Even now I find Pantheon boring. Some things have managed to pique my interest but that's all." He answered while giving Dark a deep look causing her to blush.
Suddenly, their ears twitched as they picked up on a sound in front of them.
Sharp green colored thorn like things about five meters long appeared in each of their visions.
Their eyes widened and their pupils shrank as countless counter measures passed through their minds.
The spikes had been so fast that the sound only reached them at the same time they arrived in front of their gazes.
The attack had been timed so well that they were midair when the spikes appeared in their vision limiting their options of evasion.
