Chapter 18 Damien and Lino vs The Monster.
A wall of black flames appeared in front of them and the spikes crackled as they were instantly incinerated turning into dust.
They managed to land on a branch in front of them without any other interruption.
"Dark, don't interfere. It is a mere demigod. You should stand aside and cheer my perfect self on." Damien said without turning his head.
"Yes, we will take care of this." Lino added while she vigilantly looked at towards their front.
They were trying to pinpoint the position of the creature.
Dark looked at them and noticed the excited gleam in their eyes. She walked towards the stem of the tree holding the branch they were standing on and leaned onto it.
'Let's see how strong, people from the universe really are.' She thought as she also was curious about their strength. She didn't lose her vigilance as she knew that even a demigod creature might kill a god here if they weren't careful.
"Lino! What color scheme are you going with?" Damien asked as his tense body entered a relaxed state. This didn't mean that he was letting down his guard, on the contrally, it meant he was gonna get serious.
"I will try to use multiple, starting with the the white rose." Lino answered as white vines appeared around her form and wove themselves into a beautiful body hugging white flexible suit. Her clothes were destroyed in the process.
The suit only reached her neck and it emphasized her curves and bountiful chest. A crown formed from thorny vines formed on her head and seven different colored roses bloomed on it. They were fiery red, white, black, blue, light green, brown and emerald green respectively. They corresponded to the seven elements which were Fire, light, darkness, water, wind, earth and wood.
Lino's hair and pupils also gained a white shade the same as the body suit making her seem like an angel as she lighted up the whole place.
'I will show that woman how strong I am.' She thought as she gave Dark the side eye.
"It is going to be my first time seeing you going all out!" Damien exclaimed.
"I should also-"
Damien had just started talking when a cavernous mouth entered his vision. It was at least two times larger than his body. Green saw like teeth lined its sides vertically and Damien could even catch the smell of its stench.
It was just a few inches away from him. His right hand had been placed at his tie while his left had been hanging by his side.
His hand blurred as his tie transformed into a staff which elongated in his hand. He held it with both hands horizontally in front of him before the collision.
Since the staff was long, the creature's lips are the ones which made contact with it and not the teeth. The collision hurled Damien backwards at a very high speed upon which his body collided with the horizontal branch they had just jumped from not long ago. Splinters filled the space as his figure got embedded.
The branch was so durable that it didn't even break.
The creature, due to its collision with him, was momentarily stopped in place.
The creature had stalled momentarily in midair at the left of Lino, who reacted at this point.
The white rose on her crown produced a beam of light which fell upon the creature. The moment the beam made contact with the creature, her body vanished to reappear directly at the place the beam had made contact with.
Her right arm was pointed at its skin which was covered in green colored fur. White vines far faster than normal vines almost travelling at light speed grew out of her hand and instantly wrapped around the creature. The white colored thorns on them dug into the flesh of the creature drawing out droplets of green blood.
Before Lino could celebrate however, the creature's fur stood on end and the vines were cut through instantly. The spike like fur elongated at a high speed.
Lino, upon seeing the spikes heading for her as she was too close had the brown flower on her crown of seven roses light up. The white suit's color changed to brown and so did her pupils and hair.
She crossed her hands in front of herself before the spikes hit her hurling her form into the tree stem directly above Dark and embedding her inside it. The spikes had hit multiple points on her body producing metallic sounds and sparks.
The creature's direction shifted a little when the spikes had collided with Lino. Even though its collision with Damien had halted it for a split second allowing Lino to attack, its forward momentum hadn't yet been impeded. It continued on and passed by the branch it was supposed to land on and crushed into the ground.
A long groove was left in its wake as the foliage in its path was torn to shreds.
[Screech!!!]
An earpiecing scream entered their ears as the creature writhed around on the ground as green blood trickled to the ground from its wounds even though they were visibly closing up.
Dark had her vision on the spot where Damien had been hurled to and had completely ignored Lino's exchange with the monster.
'I hope he is fine.' She thought as her hands joined in front of her chest as if in prayer.
'Shit, I didn't take the spikes into consideration. I should have been vigilant since they were the first attack it launched.' Lino berated herself as she crawled out of the tree stem.
No visible damage could be seen on her brown suit but she spit out a globe of blood after jumping down and landing on the branch. Her massive peaks had jiggled as she landed on the branch putting a strain on the suit.
'Good thing the brown rose form has the greatest defense or it wouldn't have ended with simply my organs shifting.' She thought while wiping the blood from her mouth.
"This creature is interesting." A voice was heard as Damien crawled out of the hole and turned into a red streak which appeared in the middle of the two women.
His body was clad in red flames as he had activated his blood burning form. Dark breathed in a sigh of relief when she saw no visible injuries on his body.
He held the staff in a vertical position in front of him as he turned around.
The trio proceeded to appraise the creature writhing on the ground.
It was in the form of a green colored sphere and had one mouth filled with green colored teeth. Green fur covered its entire form and it had one eye located above its mouth. The pupil was green with two dark slits forming the shape of a cross.
[You have a god on your side, but my evolution is way more important. I can't afford to pass on a meal consisting of two demigods. So I will have to get serious.] A voice entered their minds while they were looking at the creature.
Their eyes widened when the creature's body started shrinking. It looked like it was compressing all its muscle mass.
They watched until the end since it was so bizarre. What was left in their vision was a green human sized monster with green fur. Its mouth was still on the head and so was the lone eye, still above it. Even the head was covered in fur except for the only two organs on it.
To Damien, it looked like a monkey with one eye and mouth with no ears or nose.
"The strings in its body are almost rivalling those of a god king/queen. God king/queens create spaces in their bodies to keep extra strings since they can manipulate space. But this beast compressed its entire body's strings. You should be careful." warned Dark.
Damien's fingers on the red staff tightened as he frowned. He could also sense the incredible pressure it was giving off.
The monster's body vanished and turned into a green streak appearing in front of Damien instantly.
He looked into its lone eye to see that it contained disdain. Even though he was burning his blood, he found that it was faster than him.
His body flared with red flames as he tried to evade but its right hand clamped down on his head.
It once again turned into a green streak and appeared at another tree upon which it crashed his head into the bark.
Due to the velocity, Damien's head burst apart with fragments of his skull and gooey brain matter scattering everywhere.
The creature opened its mouth wide and devoured every piece and even the indestructible suit was swallowed instantly.
Dark and Lino only managed to turn around after everything had been eaten and only the blood smudge was left on the tree stem. It had taken an instant for the creature to devour everything.
Lino turned pale while tears formed in Dark's eyes and dark flames ignited on her body.
She raised her arm and prepared to burn the creature.
On the crown of thorns adorning Lino's head, the black flower turned darker. Her suit, hair and pupils too turned dark as she too prepared to kill the creature by using her most terrifying color scheme.
Their faces had turned ferocious due to the pain they felt. They had even forgotten that this was an illusory world.
A chill ran down the beast's spine as its fur visibly hardened into spikes upon sensing the overwhelming danger.
