Chapter 25 Negotiations
"I want you to offer what you will provide me plus what you want in exchange." Damien said after taking a look at all their faces. He leaned back into the chair and waited for their proposals.
Even though it was curved out if a piece of unknown wood, it was comfortable like seating in a sofa.
The five representatives exchanged subtle glances before Silver spoke up.
"The Diamante clan is prepared to offer clothes and accessories for the occupants of the houses. All we want is the income from atleast one house to be ours."
She laid out her demand with a series face. Her gaze was entirely focused on Damien, who returned it without flinching.
"Let me first hear all of you before we negotiate." Damien replied.
"We will create the boundaries and extra outside residences. We want the same thing as the Diamante clan." Gigan said as his brown eyes calmly looked at Damien.
"We, the Light clan will provide decor for the residences. We propose the same deal as the Diamante clan." Pulsar said as he passed a hand through his white hair. He gave off an air of someone completely relaxed.
'Their appetites sure are big.' This thought passed through Dark's mind as her gaze which was looking at the clan representatives flickered.
"The Waver clan will provide entertainment under the same conditions as the Diamante clan." Blue Waver said without moving his gaze from Silver.
'This guy is starting to get on my nerves.' A vein popped up on Damien's forehead. This guy was entirely ignoring him. He wondered why the clan would choose such a guy to represent them in something this important.
"The Butwa clan will provide food. We are asking for the same thing as the Diamante clan." Niles shamelessly said causing the others to widen their eyes for an instant, but they calmed down and settled their collective fazes at Damien.
"Even god level food doesn't reach the level of the value of the property. So what gives you the right to ask for the same profit as the others?" Damien asked calmly as his red eyes looked into the ghostly green ones of Nile.
"It is the reason why its called a negotiation." Niles answered nonchalantly without breaking eye contact.
"All of you must put in mind that the things you are offering must be woven/created by gods at the minimum." Damien changed the topic so that he could avoid getting into an argument.
""Naturally" they all answered simultaneously.
"First of all, all the houses produce seven colored liquid and are in proximity to the god queen. What you want doesn't measure up to what you are giving." Damien nonchalantly dropped the seven colored liquid bomb while still languidly leaning back in his chair.
Pulsar's mouth dropped open, the ghostly green glow in Niles' eyes strengthened and Blue Waver was struggling not to produce an expression on his face.
Meanwhile Silver's calm facade had crumbled as she looked at Gigan who was still sitting there calmly.
'Their clan knew about this? But we only learned of it recently!' She exclaimed in her mind as she looked at his expressionless face.
'It seems the Munene clan isn't simple.' She grew wary.
'How come they are this ruffled? It seems they didn't know!? Shit??? I just lost a valuable card.' Damien cursed in his mind.
'I thought they knew since they toured the place with Silver.' Dark thought as she moved her gaze to her only to find her looking at the calm Gigan.
'This is going to be chaotic.' She thought as she shook her head and looked at Damien.
"It seems like you didn't know. I wonder why Miss Silver didn't tell you? Hmm?" Damien said with intent to sow discord.
The three who didn't know turned their gazes to her.
Silver snapped out of her thoughts and directed a glare towards Damien before looking at the others.
"There was no merit in knowing." She explained.
"How can that be! You made us humiliate ourselves!" Roared Niles.
He was the only one easily irritable among them.
"Even though his manners are questionable, he has a point." Pulsar said as the carefree look on his face vanished to be replaced with a more serious one. He was referring to Niles' manners in this case. He didn't miss the chance to smear dirt on his 'colleague'.
Blue Waver didn't say anything but he too was looking at Silver with dissatisfaction.
"It seems like you will have to rethink your offers." Damien said as a smug grin appeared on his face.
The three felt that he was looking at them with disdain and some blushed while another glared back at him in dissatisfaction.
"You can negotiate with us." Gigan said calmly. His clan already had the information, which was why he proposed the same conditions as Silver without batting an eye.
The other three stood up and turned into three colored streaks racing out the door.
'It seems they went to relay the information to their clan leaders and ask for advice.' Damien thought.
"You will build boundaries and any other structures which might be needed on the property? A great proposal but the houses will go for a minimum of five elemental strings every ten thousand sun cycles. What you are offering doesn't hold up to what you want." Damien leaned in and said upon which even Gigan's calm facade started faltering.
"That will he robbery! How can some one pay that amount every ten thousand sun cycles? I thought it was going to be at least one elemental string every one hundred thousand sun cycles!" Gigan exclaimed in surprise as his fist hit the table.
Even Silver's little mouth had dropped open in surprise not to mention the others.
"You will be surprised at what people can do when you put something on a nice package." Damien countered.
"You see now, right? Your offers aren't enough to match what you want." Damien once again leaned back and let them mule over it in their heads.
"What is the most you can offer for our services?" Gigan asked after calming down.
"Income from one house will be shared between the five of your clans. That's the most I can give." Damien answered instantly without even taking the time to mule over it.
"It seems you came prepared!" Silver said through gritted teeth.
"Yes, thank you for your praise. Am just that great." He praised himself.
"I do know you aren't happy, but think of it like this, the income from the person who occupies the first house will go to you. Even if ten thousand sun cycles pass and no one else has come, you will still be paid if the person decides to continue staying there." He offered them a bone.
"But if we don't get anyone, you don't get paid. On the bright side, someone has to take interest before your services are called upon so you won't be making a loss. That's a sweet deal as I won't be earning anything if only one house is rented out during that time." Damien assured.
Gigan breathed out a sigh of relief while Silver nodded, even though her eyes threatened to bore holes into Damien.
"Oh! And you will take the trouble to inform the other three, these high level negotiations put stress on my perfect brain so I don't want to go through them again if I can." He reminded as he prepared to stand up.
"You are just a demigod! What gives you the right to order us around, outsider!?" Silver exploded as Gigan looked on.
"Nonono... Now we are on the same level. We are business men right now, not warriors" he tutted as he shook his right index finger at her.
"I do know you hate outsiders but not all of us are bad or could it be that you think you are superior to us?" Damien asked as his gaze turned cold.
Silver's body started emanating pressure unique to gods as she prepared to fight him.
Damien's body tensed in preparation for the coming attack.
A hand covered in brown appeared in front of Silver who was getting up from the chair. Gigan's hand covered in a brown sleeve was the one which appeared in their vision.
"Calm down. If you attack, the consequences will be dire for your clan. The god queen behind you won't save you." Gigan's voice came from her right.
Silver took a deep breath to calm down and sat back down.
"We won't see you out." She chased them off.
Damien adjusted his red tie before putting on his glasses and walking out. Dark, Lino and Itetia followed behind him.
"That was risky! You shouldn't rile her up like that!" Berated Dark when she caught up with him outside.
"I wasn't riling her up." He defended himself as he put up his hands as a gesture of his innocence.
"Damien! That was cool, but dangerous and bad for life." Lino gave a thumbs up from behind.
"Actually, I think she is playing with fire. Those four men aren't simple. According to what I saw they want her but haven't yet acted. If she continues to act oblivious, they will take extreme measures." He said.
"It has been like that forever. Whoever wins her hand will rise greatly in position in the clan after all, there are hundreds of gods in each of their clans and competition is stiff." Dark explained as she tucked a strand of her hair above her ear.
"Its understandable since they want treasures which aid in increasing comprehension. But breaking through to become god kings with such a mindset isn't right. Clans have spoiled them. I would rather go out and hunt for opportunities myself." Damien scoffed at the clan system.
