Chapter 29 Falling Out

Chapter 29 Falling Out

"I am disappointed in you!" Phoenix's embodiment said without turning around.

"I am not interested in your views. You burnt off my hair. I need it back." He countered calmly.

The others were in shock at how he didn't even show the slightest emotion when talking to the god queen as if him revealing his true self wasn't anything important.

"I am truly sorry, Dark! Even if you never forgive me I will understand." He said as he turned his gaze to Dark who had calmed down.

"Why did you act all this time?" Dark asked.

"I already gave you the reason, I was searching for something which could get me excited." He answered but his face was showing impatience.

"But you failed to excite me, either you remove your divinity which is hindering my hair growth or we can go to the palace and discuss the property, after all, you never know...becoming a god might expose me to secrets which might manage to take away my boredom." He said to the embodiment.

"How come I never knew about your true self?" Lino asked as she wiped away her tears.

"Your other personality knows. She didn't want me to tell you, so I had to act." He answered.

"What is your decision, god queen?" His gaze turned to the golden embodiment.

"I hope you chase him out of Pantheon city, never to return." Dark suggested, her voice dripping with hate.

"Don't forget my hair" Damien muttered, earning himself a glare from Dark.

"The project is too far along to remove him. Stay here and calm down. It applies to the rest of you. Damien! Come to the palace." She ordered after which her embodiment dissipated.

Damien raced out of the house the moment it dissipated. He could see that Dark could have murdered him if he stayed any longer.

Lino and Dark were the only ones left.

"Even though you didn't know, I don't think I can be friends with you knowing that you come from the same place as him. You might be a liar like him. The residences for all of us will be at the mansion where the god queen lives. I hope that when you occupy a room, it is far away from me." She said before moving back to her room.

Lino, who was left in the living room, plopped down on the sofa as if she had lost all strength.

It took Damien an instant to reach the Palace. Even when he reached the stairs, he didn't slow down. It was an affront to the god queen but he didn't care.

'How sad that I couldn't get anything to excite me here. I hope she chases me away.' He thought as his form appeared beneath the throne.

'I pegged him a someone interesting, but this, I don't know what to make of it.' Phoenix thought as her glistening eyes looked at him from above.

"Since you have decided to have me stay, let's get down to serious business. Mr. Munene is coming and am going to ask him to get a team up here to do landscaping of the plots of space around the houses but, I will have to pay him since this won't be part of the deal we made at the table." Damien explained.

"So, in essence you want me to pay him."

"Yes." Damien answered.

"What will he be doing exactly?" She asked. Her golden slitted eyes were looking at him seriously. She was wondering how a single person can be this nonchalant after lying to basically everyone he knew. But she didn't want to ask him.

'What should I do with him?' She asked herself. Even though he lied, she found out that her feelings towards him hadn't changed.

"He is going to add some plants, a boundary, maybe a pool if it is do able."

"The houses have their foundations in the platform. Adding earth will just cause them to be buried but I do know that their are multiple plant species which don't require soil.

...for the pool, a depression can't be made in the platform, will it be a floating pool or built above the platform." She wondered.

"Its the reason why I called him. The have experts who will give suggestions." He stopped her from continuing her useless thoughts.

"I will pay him once the job's done." She said.

"Have you ever had someone fall in love with you?" She asked after a few seconds of silence.

"Except Lino, no one else." He admitted frankly.

"I will make a bold declaration. I will make you fall in love with me." Phoenix said. Her pupils lit up with golden flames.

"Hahahahaha... That's impossible, but I will take it as a challenge." He laughed it off. He didn't think she would do it. He only accepted it to see if it would lead to excitement down the road.

"I sense his arrival. Go out and welcome him!" Phoenix ordered.

"Sure." He answered as his face returned to its stoicness.

"This demigod isn't considerate at all! He should have waited for me here to welcome me." Gigan, currently dressed in a brown suit which complemented his eyes was standing on the teleportation formation on the platform. He was waiting for someone to pick him up.

He had just arrived and after about 30 seconds, a streak of red appeared from afar and stopped infront of him.

Damien had arrived in front of him. He didn't burn his blood but travelled at the normal speed of a demigod.

"Sorry to keep you waiting!" He said but, there were no signs of it being genuine from his face.

Gigan narrowed his eyes upon seeing his attitude but he ultimately didn't comment on it.

"What did you invite me here for, Mr. Okoye?" He asked.

'This guy is dangerous but I hope your little schemes, if you have any manage to entertain me.' He thought.

"I invited you here, as I have a task for you unrelated to the deal we agreed upon. By the way, did you manage to notify the other three? It should be done fast since we need to sign the contract." Damien said the reason and also inquired about the others.

"Let's just say its a working progress, but don't worry, in at most, a meeting will be held to sign the contract during the next sun."

"Okay, now I am in need of your services to remodel this platform. I need boundaries to be constructed for privacy and also to make the outdoors more presentable."

Gigan's eyes lit up at the opportunity. It was instant but Damien saw the glow.

'He wants to rip me off.' He thought.

"You have come to the right person. Now all we need to discuss is the price." He said as he eagerly looked towards Damien.

"What do you want?"

Damien didn't want to waste any time on these pointless things.

'He is somehow different. I will need to rethink the plan to teach him a lesson.' Gigan didn't let any of his current thoughts leak out.

"All I ask for as payment is to have one of the residences given to the Munene clan permanently."

"At most 10,000 sun cycles!" Damien immediately shattered his daydreams.

"Okay!" He agreed. Even though Gigan tried to keep his expression from falling apart, a smile still surfaced on his face.

"When do you start?" Damien asked.

"As soon as possible! I will contact the company handling these things." He answered immediately.

"Then, you are done. You can go back." He said as he started to turn around to go back.

"I am also here to visit Ms Dark." He said as he searched to see any traces of dissatisfaction from Damien's face.

"Okay, it seems the god queen has no qualms with it since she didn't form an embodiment to stop you." He said before he turned into a red streak which vanished into the far off palace gates.

'Was I mistaken? He truly has no interest in that woman?' Gigan asked himself as he didn't observe any change in Damien's expression when he told him of his visit to Dark.

He stepped away from the teleportation formation and took the main middle path to Dark's house.

Damien appeared back onto the palace beneath the throne room.

"I take it that you heard about his demands." It came out as a statement since Damien believed she heard.

"Yes, it seems the five families are too greedy. They have become so entrenched in the city that they believe they can challenge its ruler. Did you know that I have been handed its rule when I was still a child?" She asked.

"I made them bleed when I was city lord during those times but it seems that these young demigods don't remember or their clan leaders believe I have changed." She continued with her monologue.

"Is it okay to let him visit Dark?" Damien asked. He entirely ignored her monologue.

"Oh! Have you started to care?"

She leaned in front, curious about his answer.

"I told you am bored not uncaring. Though I don't really care about her. Am only asking since that guy isn't simple." He answered. His face remained stoic the whole time.

"I know he isn't simple, but they used to meet when she was the secretary of the previous god king." A dash of sorrow passed through her eyes at the mention of the previous god king.
