Chapter 33 Pearl And Silver

Chapter 33 Pearl and Silver

In the Illusory world, at its center, lies a lake, and on one of its banks, lies a fortress.

The fortress looks like it was cut out of one gigantic piece of diamond. It is a behemoth which has lasted thousands of sun cycles.

It was the stronghold owned by the Diamante clan in the illusory world.

Currently, it was night and the moon had risen by half from the middle of the lake and its light, which reached the fortress was split into the seven colors of the rainbow as it passed through the crystalline walls of the fortress.

It made for a splendid light show.

It made fortress Diamante, a couples' favourite for dates. Many demigods loved bringing their wives, girlfriends and fiancées to the place, provided the couple survived the trek through the monster infested wilderness.

A silver haired beauty was currently standing on the shores of the lake with the fortress directly behind her. She was barefoot.

She wasn't alone as a woman whose presence alone lit up the place was standing at her side.

She had the same silver hair but hers gave off an ethereal feeling like the light coming from the rising moon. She had silver eyes and she was dressed in a high-slitted white body hugging gown with her curves on full display.

She was the clan leader of the Diamante clan and the one next to her was Silver. She was the only female among the clan leaders, and was known as the Pearl god queen.

She had just arrived in Pantheon city. Though she had alerted the Phoenix god queen before entering with her domain. The domains of god kings/queens could cover the entire Pantheon city in the blink of an eye.

So she had collided hers with that of the god queen and conveyed the message.

She had directly entered the illusory world and surprised Silver.

Silver had been so happy and suggested a trip to the beach.

"I heard that not long ago, a beast horde attacked the city?" The god queen asked. Her oval face the picture of seriousness.

"Yes, on a certain night, pressure engulfed the entire illusory world. It lasted for about a minute and then it was gone. After that, beast hordes assaulted all the five cities." Silver recounted the events.

"It has been a long time since a stampede happened. Did you find the cause of the pressure?" Pearl asked.

"No, but we speculated that a god emperor/empress must have infiltrated the illusory world searching for something or some one and left after achieving his goal."

A trace of respect appeared in Silver's voice. Even talking about those people indirectly might invite a calamity upon yourself hence the trace of respect.

"It seems those beasts were scared and just haphazardly attacked the fortresses in their terror?" Pearl speculated.

"We think so too." Silver said before sitting down and folding her knees into her bosom.

She gazed directly at the half moon. Seven colored light was shimmering around her.

The sand wasn't ordinary sand but diamonds. The diamante clan had spent almost a hundred sun cycles making every particle of sand on this beach. It was the same around the lake.

Even if you tried to carry it away, you wouldn't succeed as every particle/diamond was made to return to its previous place after sometime. Even the waters of the lake couldn't wash it away.

"The god queen killed Blue Waver." Reported Silver.

"Oh! It seems she is confident of handling the clan leader of the Waver clan!"

"Well, he did offend her by trying go turn one of the servants into a puppet." Silver continued.

"He does deserve it, but turmoil might be coming to Pantheon city. All our clans might be dragged in." Pearl speculated.

"It is going to be the opening ceremony of the estate at the start of the next sun cycle." Silver continued.

"I bet you are the one who is going to make the invitations?" Pearl asked.

Both were having the back and forth while staring at the moon.

"Yes, mother! I want to quit working for her!" Silver resolutely said as she turned to look at the ethereal woman.

"Denied!"

"Why?"

"Why do you want to quit?"

"She is childish and she also chose an outsider to manage the estate. You know I hate them!" She said and by the end, she was practically shouting.

"I know, but you have to learn that everything doesn't have to be in your favour. The world is complicated and if you think that you will run away every time something isn't in your favour, you are mistaken."

Silver pouted in dissatisfaction. Pearl bent down and tussled her hair.

Silver wasn't her daughter but she had come to love her as if she were her mother.

"I will be here until the opening ceremony ends." She said as she continued to warmly pat her head.

"Yay!" Shouted Silver. Only in her adoptive mother's presence could she act like a spoilt little girl.

'I wonder what that being was searching for? I hope it isn't in Pantheon city.' Pearl worriedly looked into the sky.

-------

Damien, the person who had been at the center of the events which led to the beast horde in the illusory world was currently in his room which he had just moved in, pondering about what necessities he needed.

The mansion was composed of eight self contained rooms, four each on the base floor and first floor. The third floor was all one whole residence.

Phoenix, had taken Damien to a tour of it and he was still reeling from the shock. It had been too extravagant. All the things in it were woven/created by the god emperor. It contained weapons and many other treasures. Of course there were no 'one time use' items. Items, treasures and other things created by a god emperor/empress couldn't be affected by time. They could continue to exist until the end of the universe if the said powerhouse willed it so.

The treasures themselves could only be stolen by a god emperor. But why would a god emperor want to steal them when he could just create his?

[Knock]

A knock at the door interrupted his plans.

He opened it to find Lino standing there nervously.

"What do you want?" He asked politely. Even though he didn't love Lino, years of being together still prompted him to treat her as his friend.

"Wait! Let me make you a cup.of tea!"

Damien offered as he went into the kitchen and busied himself.

Lino looked around the living room before she chose a place to sit.

Damien's apartment was located on the first floor and it was the last room on the right if you were standing outside in front of the mansion.

A window was open and the smell of the flora soothed Lino's nerves.

A few minutes later, Damien came back supporting two cups on a tray, which he placed on the table and offered one to her.

"What is tea?" She asked as Damien sat opposite her and picked up his cup.

"It is a drink native to my home. Though the beverage I gave you has the same preparation similarities as tea, it lacks the ingredient of tea leaves. I just followed the god queen's explanation in preparing it using some leaves from a plant bearing similarities to tea in its form of consumption"

"Some of the plants in the compound are edible." He continued.

"Thanks!" She thanked him and continued to down the hot beverage.

"So what did you want to talk about?" He broached the subject upon seeing that her nervousness had subsided.

"Is the condition you set for me to become your girlfriend still in effect?"

Lino's fists balled up on her thighs as she nervously waited for his answer.

"Yeah, it is! You have been my friend for as long as I can remember, so I can't really discourage you." Damien answered nonchalantly.

Lino exhaled deeply upon hearing his answer as if a deep burden had been let down from her back.

"Why did you fall for me?"

Damien stared into her eyes deeply as he posed the question.

Lino's eyes swarm around as she tried to avoid his gaze.

"I-I-I-I...."

Words failed to form as she couldn't truly come up with a reason.

"No one needs a reason to fall in love, they just do!" She answered after a deep breath to calm her nerves.

"Oh! I wonder if that will ever happen to me?" He murmered to himself.

"Yes! I truly believe it will!" She answered with conviction. Her eyes were burning when he looked into them.

"I hope so, too." He answered as his mind wondered away.

They quietened down and enjoyed the rest of the tea in silence.

Lino's expression had visibly lightened up from the one she came in with.

'Just sitting quietly and being able to enjoy staring at my beloved is a joy I get to rarely enjoy. I should treasure this moment!'

She thought as she stared at Damien whose attention was directed outside the window.

There wasn't supposed to be any wind but for some reason, there was. It caused the branches of the trees to sway which was calming when looked at.

'If I become a god emperor, would the world then, become interesting in my eyes?' He asked himself as he looked at the swaying branches.
