Chapter 41 The Opening Ceremony Part 4, Battle

Chapter 41 Opening Ceremony Part 4, Battle

A truly long organism appeared in space.

It had millions of legs, brown carapace and a mouth which took up its entire front.

It was called the Earth devourer. A monster which satiated itself by devouring whole planets. It was so long that it was as long as the circumference of the circle formed by the rotating suns.

Its lone mouth was facing towards Waver's gigantic humanoid water body. Its long body had coiled around Phoenix and Waver.

Even above and under, all routes of escape had been blocked.

"I have done the sealing, the rest of you can simply watch!"

He dissuaded the others from acting.

'This old fogey doesn't want to sustain any injuries!' Phoenix cursed in her mind.

"Waver, if you surrender peacefully, I can plead for your leniency. I can make it so that you are only imprisoned instead of death!"

She tried the soft tactics.

Fighting him would have been an enjoyable pastime to her if she wasn't contending with the devouring organisms in her body.

She was shifting her elemental strings through multiple layers of space but it was only a matter of time before they caught up.

"I don't believe you! Since I can't escape, then..."

He shouted before his gigantic mouth opened! A long straight jet of water, about 10 meters of diameter was ejected at a very high pressure, its target, Phoenix.

At some point, he had moved his facial features from his front to the back.

'Shit'

It was so fast that, even though she evaded, it had impacted her right wing.

Watery mist was lingering on the potion of the wing close to her head.

Waver's divinity was trying to corrode hers.

Her entire body flared up! She had been enraged!

'It seems you chose the hard way!'

A golden ocean of flames was ejected out of her body. They were so concentrated that they looked like a golden liquid.

Her talons were lightly treading on the golden liquid. Even ripples were seen spreading from the point of contact.

"Too hot!" Shouted the Earth devourer Munene had transformed into. He widened the cage to keep away from the heat.

Waver's body was evaporating judging from the water vapor surrounding his form.

It was still connected to him, hence its lingering.

'The fires of nirvana...they have to be hot enough to burn my powerful body into ashes so that I can rise again.'

Even Phoenix herself feared this technique of her divinity. Divinities also had pros and cons.

Her vertical slitted golden eyes were focused on the enemy in front of her.

'The strongest power to win faster!'

That was the thought.

She flapped her massive wings and turned into a golden streak which instantaneously arrived in front of the water body.

'Too hot!' Waver felt the heat fully the moment she arrived in front of him. The golden ocean had turned into feathers which she had launched the moment she took off.

But she had arrived first!

'I can't let them touch me!'

He raised his massive hand and formed a wall of water in front of himself. It was so compact that it had become solid.

Phoenix's beak created a few cracks at the moment of impact and steam started escaping.

The feathers caught up and crashed into the wall. Due to there heat, multiple places of the water shield started burning and evaporating.

"Aaaaaah!" That elicited a scream from Waver. They were connected to his divinity so them burning up injured him.

Without warning, the shield shattered into countless shards and a fist collided with Phoenix who had exhausted her momentum, sending her hurtling backwards.

The punch had come at the cost if letting multiple feathers igniting his gigantic form.

Waver's voice reverberated in the void as he screamed in pain.

Golden burning blood was dripping out of Phoenix's beak as she steadied herself.

'Brutal!' Munene's gigantic body was still sealing the escape routes and that thought couldn't help but pass through him.

Using her beak as the axis, phoenix started rotating at high-speed by using her wings. She launched herself at Waver's body at a fast speed. She had turned herself into a drill, her target was his head.

She had sped up so fast that by the time Waver noticed, her form was only a few meters away from his eyes.

'Move,move,move,...' Waver screamed in his mind. He was trying to disperse the water forming his head but, it was too late!

Everything above the shoulders of the giant vanished as a golden streak passed through.

Phoenix respread her wings and stopped herself near Munene's body at the edges of the cage.

The carapace started to show signs of heating up by turning red.

"Phoenix! My body! Get away!" A voice was produced from Munene's gigantic mouth.

It was at the other end of the cage and rows of circular rotating teeth could be seen when opened.

Phoenix flapped her wings and vanished from the edge.

'That was punishment for you not fighting!'

That was just a minor wound to Munene.

Golden fires could be seen but here and there at the battlefield. The feathers which had survived had turned into plumes of flame around the gigantic water elemental.

"That should have given him a substancial injury!" She mumbled.

Since he was an elemental being, taking out the head wouldn't kill him since his consciousness was spread around his entire body.

She opened her beak and sucked in all the flames surrounding the giant. It served to replenish her reserves as her body got brighter.

Her bird body entered a state of alertness as she prepared for the second round.

So far, the gigantic humanoid with no head hadn't made any moves. It was suspicious.

That attack shouldn't have been enough to silence it for this long.

"Ocean!"

The giant collapsed and started spreading through the battlefield in wave form the moment Weaver's voice was heard.

Phoenix retreated when she saw the giant water bubble nearing her.

The water was engulfing the surrounding space in spherical form.

Phoenix retreated until the boundaries of the cage and even munene, had to unblock the space and collect his body in one direction.

An entire spherical ocean had appeared in space. It was so gigantic that it had surpassed the diameter of the ten suns put together.

If it all spilled downwards, Phoenix had no doubt that it would extinguish the suns and flood the entire Pantheon city down below!

"Now this is a pickle." Phoenix commented upon resuming her human form.

Even her Phoenix form couldn't do anything unless she immolated herself in the fires of nirvana. But she didn't have any courage to do that!

"The most troublesome divine ability! We can't even shrink space around it!" Commented Munene who had a arrived at her side.

The others, and even Pearl arrived.

"The water elemental divinity I have accumulated all my life, I have converted it into this spherical ocean!"

"Now, would you allow me to escape?"

The voice asked. Ripples were formed on the ocean.

"How are we going to solve this?" Pearl asked.

"We let him go!?" One of the god kings, a scrawny man suggested.

He was Butwa. The one in charge of the fifth ranked clan.

Most of the others noded their heads in agreement.

Phoenix was staring at the massive ocean. She was refraining from saying anything, apparently deep in thought.

"It is a dilemma indeed! Who here is all for letting him escape? Raise your hands! I wanna see them!" She turned around and asked in a cheerful voice.

No one became foolish enough to do that. That would lead to becoming her enemy, a bad idea due to her unpredictableness.

"Hey! This ocean! Do you truly believe I care even if this city is annihilated?" She asked the massive ocean.

"Hahaha...of course not! But! The other god kings who have their roots in the city won't let you do what you want! How can they allow all their work to go to waste...hnmm?"

Waver seemed like he was enjoying a show.

"That is also useless! We can just invite a god emperor or empress! You are the one running out of time here!" She threatened him back.

Some of the people behind her had gotten tense when Waver talked about destroying the city.

Almost all the residents would die. His divinity was more dangerous than mere water. He was stronger than all the people down below and even hiding in buildings wouldn't save them.

Ripples formed on the surface of the sphere. If you went to its surface, they would appear as gigantic waves.

Waver was once again panicking.

'Maybe one of them notified a god emperor! There's no way, the constraints of distance don't exist for them. Or one of them might be watching somewhere?'

Different thoughts were passing through his mind, troubling him, increasing the frequency of ripples on the spherical ocean.

"Besides, even of a god emperor doesnt deign to act now, they will surely act the moment you try to extinguish this city! How can they allow such a major thing to happen to a city located in a space pocket where the big bang happened? It would also give them a chance to carry favour with its creator!" She continued to rain verbal blows in him.
