Chapter 50: Yellow Town (1)

Around noontime was Old Fei's routine drinking time as he dallied and rested at home. The place was quiet, except the occasional laughter of children sounded from a distance.

Suddenly,

Myah's childish voice boomed out of nowhere and broke the leisured village chief out of his trance.

"Grandpa chief! Grandpa chief! Where are you!? Myah is here to give you something!"

Once the door was kicked open by his short leg,

Myah carries a big bowl of food on the top of his head with two hands as he unceremoniously ran into the house.

Was he afraid of disturbing Old Fei's rest?

Myah wasn't bothered as they are very close. Grandpa chief would seldom tell him stories and give him treats whenever he came over to play.

"What time is it? Who is making such a fuss?" From the backyard, Old Fei's aged voice resounded.

His tone was somewhat tired.

Then, without anyone seeing, the old chief smiled as he stretched his worn-out old bones before taking a sip of Dandelion Wine.

He exclaimed in a somewhat annoyed tone.

"Don't ye know that I'm the village chief!? Don't be so noisy around here!"

The crisp and childish voice inside the house was unique and familiar in the entire village.

Of course, Old Fei knew who it was, but he still needs to keep up appearances despite feeling somewhat happy inside his heart.

"Hehehe, it's me, Myah. Grandpa chief, I have something for you." Pushing aside the backdoor's curtain, the little guy carefully bypassed a few obstacles and walked outside with a euphoric face.

"Oh, so it's little Myah.

"And here I thought you had forgotten this old man already. Sigh, you haven't come by to listen to my story these days. Despite all the treats I gave you, you left these old bones of mine to feel so lonely here..." As he caught sight of Myah, Old Fei uttered with a saddened expression and sound extremely pitiful.

He sounded and looked as if he hadn't seen the boy for ages.

Seemingly used to the old man's attitude, Myah tucked out his tongue and snorted playfully,

"Humph, I'm not naive and gullible, and you can't fool me like before anymore. Pickle comes here every day, and you always chased him away, so how could you be lonely? You can't deceive me."

While it was true that Myah hasn't come over as often ever since he started spear training.

However, Pickle would frequently come by to steal dried fish, while the other kids would hang out around the village chief's front yard every morning to practice martial arts.

There is no way he would be lonely as described.

"Well, let's forget about that. Eh?" Suddenly, Old Fei's eyes glinted like an eagle's, and he burst out in loud laughter, "No way, I hadn't seen you little monkey for a few days, and you already lose your front teeth. How ugly, hahaha."

"Argh! Grandpa chief, if you laugh at me anymore, I will take this back." Hiding the bowl away to the side, Myah threatened him angrily.

"Hehe, I'm just joking, my old bones just joking. Why be so angry with me. What is that? Let me see, let me see." Sealing away the wine gourd, Old Fei stood up from his stool and speedily walked over.

Then, Myah smacked his lip and spoke with a cheerful smile before handing the bowl away, "These are shrimp salad made by my grandma. They are very yummy. You will love it."

"Oho? Shrimp, you said?" The next moment, Old Fei's eyes brightened.

The old village chief was somewhat shocked as he noticed the large pieces of shredded shrimps inside the large bowl.

This color and fragrance...

'Am I seeing things? No, no, no.' Old Fei thought but then shook his head and quickly tasted a piece.

Nom! Nom! Nom!*

'T-this...'

"Rank 1 White Peach Shrimp? The stuff that is incredibly hard to catch?

"These are some good stuff, and it's excellent to go along with my Dandelion Wine, hahaha."

While savoring the chewy texture and sweetness taste in his mouth, Old Fei feels like he was returning to his youth while running naked around the lake with vibrant vitality.

The delicious taste was so heavenly that it would quickly make one lose themself.

Then, Old Fei opens the wine gourd to take a sip, as the cooling Dandelion Wine flows down his windpipe. It quickly brings about an incredible sensation of freshness and satisfaction.

Such a perfect combination was truly a match made in heaven!

The old chief couldn't help but a loud moan aloud as his imagination ran wild.

He imagined himself becoming a marine life, a White Peach Shrimp happily swimming in the crystal-clear lake water.

"How gratifying!

"White Peach Shrimp, hahaha, truly deserved to be called one of the top-notch delicacies. Even when I'm still at the peak of my day back then, it wasn't easy to catch these goodies.

"It surely takes back old memories. But too bad, with these old bones of mine, I couldn't have caught these things anymore. Tsk, tsk, little Myah, say thank you to your grandma for me. These shrimps are delicious."

While listening to Old Fei's complement. Myah held his head highs and nodded proudly,

"Of course, my grandma's the best, and her cooking's delicious."

...

While Old Fei sat down and enjoyed the food and wine, he soon noticed Myah's excited yet dazed expression,

"Little one, you seem so happy today. Tell me, did something good happen?"

Myah sat on a small stool with both hands supporting his face.

The little guy seems lost in deep thought.

By now, inside Myah's mind, all the little guy could think was how awesome it would be once he becomes an adventurer.

After a short moment being distracted, Myah start tittering as he replied gleefully,

"Grandpa chief, can you let us borrow a horse cart? My grandma and I will go to town to buy new clothes and applied for me to become an adventurer."

"Hmm, well, there is still a few horse cart that is left unused by the entrance of the village. You and your grandma can come and use it whenever you need it." Old Fei steadily stroked his beard for some time.

Then, after he went into the house and came back, he put something into Myah's tiny palm and said,

"Khekhe, it's not every day you get to go to town. Take this silver coin, take it and maybe buy yourself something to eat when you get there. It's not much but enough to buy you various snacks."

Saying so, the old village chief rubbed Myah's head warmly, leaving a mess in its place.

Later, Old Fei steadily told the little guy a few necessary guidances to follow while an aged simper painted his face. He didn't want Myah to get into trouble unknowingly.

"Oh, yes, and remember that not to go anywhere randomly, alright? Always stick to your grandma. The outside world is dangerous and complicated.

"It would be unfortunate if you lost your way since a town is different from our village."

"Anyway, how is your training progressing?"

...
