Confinement

“First a sword wielding lunatic and now this,” Zane muttered as he continued to apply pressure to the pedal. 


“I figured as much, what did they want?”


“Do you think they were specifically after you?”


Zane nodded. “It’s too much of a coincidence that you drop into my life and suddenly monsters begin appearing out of thin air.”


Zane hesitated, his mind falling to the one being who might be able to help them. It was a chance he’d have to take, even though the journey would be grueling. 


“I’ll take you home first. It’s me they are after. You should get as far away from me as possible.”


She was already shaking her head with denial. “We’re in this together.”


Sera snapped her mouth shut and turned her head to gaze out the window.
