Confinement

Light was rising in the sky as they exited the Cavern of Dreams. Sera didn’t bother to look behind her, it was not a place she’d be returning to, she hoped.


She glanced to her right. There were deep shadows under Zane’s eyes but his jaw was set with determination. 


Sera leapt at the word. “Are we here?” she asked eagerly. 


“Just one more hurdle and we will be home free,” he turned to grin down at her. 


Sera felt her heart warm. She didn’t bother to wait this time, she reached out and took his hand in hers before turning her attention forward. 


“Now this,” Sera started with bright wide eyes, “Is that I’m talking about.”


Zane shook his head, “Don’t let its beauty deceive you, this is by far the most dangerous place we’ve traveled to.”


Sera’s face fell with disappointed disbelief, “You said we were going somewhere safe.”


“I did,” he threw her a mischievous grin, “But we have to find it first.”
