"Would he tell me the truth?"
"Ugh. Why not? He has nothing to lose at this point. What's the real problem here?"
Miriam paused before launching into her problem with his wife's clothing.
"Oh," Kelly said, nodding her head. "That's an obstacle. I'm not sure what you should do. You don't want to demand he get rid of them."
"No, it's not my place. If he isn't over her, we're sunk. I can't pursue this, but I also can't tell him. Such a sensitive subject."
Miriam rubbed her eyes and looked at Kelly who seemed just as bewildered by the situation. "I guess we're over," she murmured and she resolved not to think about
Gus again.
She found not thinking about Gus hard to do since he sent her flowers at the office. She stared at the roses instead of working and Kelly had to remind her to go home.
"I can't carry these home and I don't have my car. I'm not sure where my car is?"
"In the back. Someone delivered it there yesterday,"
Kelly told her.
