Chapter 9 : the past (2)

The Doctor shook his head looking dejected. Clover grabbed the doctors jacket, sobbing.

"no! Tell me it's not true! My mom couldn't have!" Clover didn't want to believe that her mom just died. The doctor bent down patting her head.

"I'm sorry girl, your mother didn't make it..." Clover cried her heart out, tears uncontrollably trickled down from her eyes.

She wants to believe that this was a dream and that her mom didn't die but reality hit hard.

"Clover!" She turned to to the voice as her sister came running to her.

"mother didn't make it...." Clover hugged her older sister tightly crying into her chest. They as sisters, weren't quite close but she couldn't help but hug her little sister back.

"shhhh~ at least moms in a better place now..." Clovers sister tried to calm her down but it didn't help.

"where's father?" Clover stopped her cries and stared seriously at her sister. Her mood changed when speaking about her dad.

"that bastard isn't here, he didn't come visit mom! His out fooling around instead!" Clover wanted to curse and punch her dad so badly right now. What else could be more important than mom?!

"don't use such horrible words Clover, your still 9!"

"umm may I ask for the parent?" The police officer from earlier came to ask the two kids who were standing outside the hospital hallways.

"my fathers not here...you can just tell me." Clovers older sister said, trying to be calm.

The police officer explained everything from the top about what happened, who was at fault for the accident and things that they found.

They found mom's phone in her hands when she got into that car crash. The police officer handed it to Clovers sister, upon seeing the phone, Clover took the phone from her sister.

She opened her moms phone and looked through the messages and found out what made their mom so angry. Clover clenched the phone tightly in her small hands.

"it's because of dad..."

"What?" Clovers sister, took the phone back from her and looked at the phone. She didn't have much of an reaction like as if she knew about it.

"We can't bring the dead back. We will just have to prepare for her funeral." Clovers sister said calmly. Clover hated her dad so much that she could straight up strangle him.

"thank you..."

"I'm sorry for your loss girls." Clover didn't say anything as her sister took the things that belonged to their mom and took Clover home.

After a few days, the funeral for her mother was held, Clover couldn't help but cry. She wished she could be the one dying instead of her.

"stop whining will you? It's annoying." Clovers dad walked away as Clover stared at him with pure hatred in her eyes. Her sister stood beside her and helped Clover up.

"Let's get going home..."

"I don't want to!"

"stop being like that, we have to go!" Clovers sister forcefully dragged her back to the cab and they all went home.

The ride in the cab was silent, Clover looked down at her hands and clenched them.

"why did you do that...?"

"what is it kid?"

"I'm asking why did you do that to mom!" Clover yelled, her sister tried to calm her down, using her hands to cover her mouth.

"sorry dad, she just is in a bad mood..." Clovers dad stared at the kids, Clover staring back with dark looking eyes that could kill.

When they got home, Clovers dad went to take out his beer to drink. Clovers sister brought Clover to her room and shut the door.

"don't make father angry, you know what his like right?" Clover looked away, she knew what her father is like when angry.

"but how can he still have the mood to drink when all that just happened, mom died!"

"Just stay in your room and-" A crash could be heard from downstairs of their house, Clovers sister signalled her to be quiet. She opened the door and left the room.

Clover stayed in her room waiting for her sister to come back but after a while she didn't. Suddenly, yelling and crash noises could be heard again. Clover got worried for her sister and decided to go down and check.

"You don't tell me what to do! You brat!"

"sis!" Clover ran down the stairs and protected her older sister as their dad threw a glass bottle, hitting Clovers back.

"Clover! Didn't I tell you to stay in your room?!"

"b-but i got worried..."

"now I'm stuck with two little useless kids...what am I going to do with you..." Clovers back started to bleed from the impact of the glass bottle earlier. Her small fragile body was not up match with her fathers.

"don't you hurt big sissy!" Clover stood up, hands out and stood up in front of her dad, trying to protect her older sister.

"what can you do? hit me? hahaha, don't make me laugh. Your so small and weak, your just gonna be like your mother one day..." Clovers father whispered the last few words right at her face.

Clover gave a big slap to her fathers face, making her older sister gasp in shock.

"take that back..."

"ohohoho~ what a cheeky little rotten child you are... you dare hit me?"

Clovers dad looked around the house before spotting the cane from his sight. He took the cane and hit Clover over and over again.

"stop that dad!"

"be a good girl and don't interfere!" Clovers dad shoved Clovers sister aside, landing on the glass shards that cut through her hand.

"sis- why you..." Clover grabbed the nearest glass shard and held it in front of her.

"what are you gonna do with that? You know it's dangerous to hold that, now give it to me."

Clover didn't listen, her hair was in a messed up state from all that. She looked up to her father and glared at him, smirking.

"your not the only one with moves...!" Clover leaped in front in a fast pace, making her dad stumble backwards. She swung the glass shard at her dad, cutting him on his arm.

"arghhh!"

"sis stop! Your hurting him!" Clover lowered her hand, looking at her dad who was on the floor with bleeding arms.

"you..." Clovers dad suddenly passed out on the floor from drinking too much and used up his strength. Clover went back to her older sister and helped her up but she slapped away her hands.

"what did you do..."

"I-I was just protecting you..."

"But this..." Clovers sister looked at their father who was on the floor unconscious before looking back at Clover with terrified eyes.

"your a freak...just stay away from me!"

"but your hand!"

"I'll take care of it myself!" Clovers sister ran up to her room and slammed the door shut. She looked at her own hands that were covered in some blood and the scars he had.

"was I wrong...?" tears ran down her cheeks as she softly cried to herself.
