Chapter 4 - Irath

It's time for me to go.

Straightening my body (soul), I turned my head to the floating status window.

It sensed my decision, and glowed with a golden layer.

Looks like the goddess is here.

[How odd. You stayed in this place for more than two days ... Not that I mind]

The letters turned gray as usual. Meaning the goddess is talking to me herself.

[Are you ready?]

I took a deep breath and said my decision.

"I'm ready."

The moment I said that—my vision blurred.

I can hear the faint 'okay~♪' of the goddess in the background.

Did she descend or something?

But I don't have the time to think about that.

My vision is blurry, I'm dizzy, and my stomach wants to release something that I never ate.

I should be a soul right? Why am I having these debuff statuses?

The fact that I'm going to have a physical body again once I land into the other world crossed my mind.

It just crossed my mind though.

The problem I'm having right now is how am I going to land from the sky!

My vision is blurry because I'm moving so fast downward, but I can already see the blue sky and forest down below.

I noticed a small wooden house in one corner of my eyes.

That's probably where I'm going to land right ... Because I can feel myself getting pulled there.

Oh right.

I'm dizzy because I'm falling like a ragdoll, and I don't think I can maintain consciousness like this.

Front flip, back flip, 180, 720—all kind of maneuvers I did with an unconditional clumsiness.

Yeah. I'm out.

The moment I thought of that, my consciousness went into darkness.

≈≈≈

A white ceiling—or not.

It's just a normal wooden ceiling that greeted me.

It looks like I'm sitting on a rocking chair. The comforting back and forth motion told me.

I looked around and found an open window. It just started me a bit.

It's daytime, about one pm based on the position of the sun outside.

Beyond the window is a forest.

A forest so dense that I could only see a faint silhouette of a mountain in the distance.

This place is so peaceful that I began to doubt that I just transmigrated.

Did the goddess place me inside a forbidden forest of some sort?

It feels like a long dream. A very long distant dream.

If not for the fact that I can remember how the goddess conversed with me, I would have thought that this is a dream.

It just felt so natural waking up on this chair and staring blankly outside.

Well, I do have plans to just relax my life away once I get a stable place to stay ... Which is probably pretty okay already.

The only thing I should do is find people, and enjoy my life adventuring outside! I reminded myself with energy.

Now that I have my objective, I should do my first steps to glory.

I released my mind from the shackles of the relaxing rocking chair, and stood up.

I found a mirror just beside the wall, so I decided to take a look at my new body. A change of familiarity wouldn't hurt.

... Average.

If I could compare myself to Japanese isekai protagonists, I would be the mob character classmate cheering on the sidelines.

Short brown hair, average black eyes, a face shape so common that you could forget it in one glance, and an average build of a body.

No muscles, excess fat on my arms and stomach, no eye catching figure or contrast.

How normal.

This is totally my body from earth.

Did I just return to earth?

I dismissed the idea.

The tutorial notification I'm having right now is the proof of that.

[Notification: Status tutorial]

[Race: Bloodline. Can be changed through certain methods]

[Job: Path of life. Cannot be changed, and you can only pick one]

[HP: Life force. Death when it reaches 0. Gradually recovers]

[MP: Mental force. Consumed when using magic. Gradually recovers]

[Phy Atk: Physical Attack. Increasing it would increase the damage dealt to opponents when hitting or attacking them with a sword. It would also increase muscle strength, making it possible to carry heavy objects]

[Phy Def: Physical Defense. Increasing it would decrease the drop in HP when receiving attacks apart from magical attacks. Increases stamina as well]

[Mag Atk: Magic Attack. Increasing it increases the attack power of spells]

[Mag Def: Magic Defense. Increasing it decreases the damage received when receiving magic attacks. Also increases the power of recovery magic]

[Agility: Speed. Increasing it increases movement speed and body coordination]

[Dexterity: Increases reflexes, dynamic visual acuity, and footwork. Also makes it easier to dodge attacks and increases attack accuracy]

[Skills: Arts. Increases various statuses and gives different effects depending on what type and set]

[Titles: Can be obtained through certain conditions. Raises stats]

[Blessings: Disabled]

How convenient.

This tutorial cleared my mind from confusion.

I'm now sure that I am really in another world.

Now that I'm free from worries, I should start preparing to go outside this forest.

The moment I decided that—a golden notification window appeared in my vision.

[Hello~ goddess of irath here]

Different from the gray font, this is colour green.

It surprised me for suddenly appearing without any notice, but I just chucked it to the system.

[Goddess of life and death just notified me of a foreign soul that is going to enter the world, and that seems to be you~♪]

[I panicked you know? She just said 'receive the guest' and left without any says for my opinion!]

[Well, anyways. I'm stuck with an otherworlder, and so I gave you a place and a body]

[Oh right. If you want to find the nearest village, you might want to level up and earn character points (stat points for the residents of this world)]

[Raise your physical attack and defence to the minimum of two hundred, so you can pass through the status eating barrier safely]

[I don't accept any questions. The monsters near your house is suitable for early levels, so level up immediately!]

[Note: if you want to become a mountain human, you can just hunt and live freely! No danger here at all. Unless you go to the barrier though]

[Note 2: I placed skill books and other books for you to read on the book shelves. I'll give you a bonus if you read them all!]

...

It seems that I have encountered a very unique situation right off the bat.

How troublesome.
