Chapter 11 - Prelude of the First night

I leveled up a total of ten times this hunt.

Added two points to dexterity and eight points to physical attack. That should increase the chance of one shots.

I might go back to hunt more rabbits later, but I need to solve the matter of light source first.

I don't want to think of fighting the monsters seriously yet. I'm going to concentrate on adapting to blood and gore.

There should be spells for beginners in the books I still haven't taken a peek of. Maybe a magic lamp in the underground storage too.

Adrenaline is still pumping through my veins, so I made use of it and searched the underground storage first.

There's no lamp or any kind light source, but there's emergency flares that I found in the corner.

I threw it all in the [Item box] and went inside the house.

I rummaged through the books and searched for the spell and skills that should help me.

And it bore fruit after more than fifteen minutes.

======∆======

• Luminance

Description: Lights up surroundings using mana. (MP) range limited to how much mana inserted.

Conditions: [Magician] job

======∆======

It's just that the target is not actually my type.

I don't need to take things fast. I just need a slow and steady pace for my grinding.

And I need a skill or spell suitable for my soon to be Swordsman job.

I flipped the pages again.

*

My patience bore fruit.

======∆======

• Night vision

Description: A skill that lets you gain vision in dark places. Gets stronger the more the skill gets used.

Conditions: Etc. [Hunter] title

======∆======

A skill suited for my current predicament has shown itself to me!

Obtaining the skill in the status window would be hard though.

I need to hunt monsters in the darkness for more than three days. Without any light source but just darkness itself.

It's like I adjusting yourself your eyes to tune into darkness, and not just having them.

And right. Although it can be also be acquired by chance and hardwork, having knowledge and conditions for it boosts the acquisition rate.

That's why I said it will only take more than three days to obtain the skill.

Well, in any case, I still have to do something before another round of hunting.

======∆======

• Item box full.

======∆======

Taking out white rabbit carcasses.

And when I talk about carcasses, it's just rabbit meat and it's skin/leather that's already dismantled by the system.

I'm not going to bother calculating how many units of MP each of them uses, as that would be troublesome.

Not yet at least.

"Item box."

======∆======

• Item box

[Rabbit meat] * 59

[Rabbit skin] * 59

[Mana core] * 2

[Backpack] * 1

MP used: 10

======∆======

Both rabbit meat and skin equals to each other. Obviously means that every rabbit I killed gave me one each.

I still don't know what does a mana core do, but I have a hint going by RPG elements. I'm going to check the books later.

...

I took out all of the [Rabbit meat] and [Rabbit skin] out of the [Item box], and stored them all in the underground storage.

There's a freezing magic in the storage that I could store the meat, but I need to take out the rest of the goddess package.

And I did.

Dinner is going to be a ton of meat to digest. All that moving outside made me hungry and tired.

The rabbit skin would serve as a backup if my current clothes gets ripped apart by monsters.

I need to practice making clothes out of animal leather though, as it would give me additional defence, even if little.

With the rabbit drops out of the [Item box], my lost MP returned to normal.

"Item box."

======∆======

• Item box

[Mana core] * 2

[Backpack] * 1

MP used: 5

======∆======

Only the two mana cores and my backpack is in the [Item box].

Each mana core should take about approximately one MP each. The backpack is self explanatory.

The true reason I stopped hunting is that my [Item box] can't be stuffed with rabbit drops anymore.

That changes my character point adding priorities temporarily again.

MP would be needed to be the first, physical attack, dexterity, and the rest.

As long I could reach at least thirty MP, I would swap it again to physical attack. It would give me more time to hunt.

For now, it's time for a short nap.

*

When I woke up, I immediately took out kilograms of preserved out of the storage.

I'm going to plan to have a feast.

I took out the pan and put some oil on it. Turned the heat to medium and let it set for a few seconds.

I sliced the meat into thick pieces and seasoned them with salt and pepper (it's also within the goddess package), before setting one into the pan.

I don't have a grill, so the pan will do for now.

The oil sizzled wildly. I put a lid on the pan for insurance and concentrated on the larger batches.

I marinated the large batch of meat through large amount of sauce that the goddess gave me. Amounting to kilograms of weight.

Just finding a container for it made me nauseous, but it's worth it in the end.

I'm thankful since the goddess thought about my modern taste, but she's scary.

I turned the meat steak over and let the other side cook as well.

A minute after, the first meat steak is done. Plated and all.

The others followed the cooked meat and went into the still heated pan.
