Reincarnation

What is happening to me?

I asked myself as I struggled to move my body. Everything around me was pure white. I cannot understand but I instantly knew that nothing existed in the space around me.

It was as if time and space refused to move forward. They say that time is always moving forward, but in this place, even the all-powerful time cannot do anything.

I shouldn't be able to think and form thoughts, but I oddly could.

I tried to look around, but my eyes did not follow my commands. It simply stared directly ahead. I cannot understand anything. The sinking feeling inside my head is slowly devouring me.

Did I pass away?

I questioned myself, but I could not remember my identity and whatever happened before I arrived here. All I knew was that I do not belong here. I am not part of the nature of this place.

If this is a dream, please help me wake up.

I asked that of anyone who could possibly hear me. I felt stupid for thinking of it. Somehow, I was sure that what I am experiencing is real.

For who knows how long, I finally noticed a change occur in the void.

Something stood before me. I could not see him yet I knew it was here. It was gazing at me.

In that instant, I remembered everything. I now knew who am I and what happened before I arrived at this lonely place.

I got into an accident.

It was a rainy day. As I was walking across the pedestrian lane, I got hit by a truck. I could vaguely remember nurses pushing my bed into the operating room.

Looks like I did not survive. I passed away before I knew it.

I looked at the existence before me.

"Who are you? Are you god?"

I asked it a question. The existence did not answer. I waited as my anxiety and emotions slowly ceased into a calm sea. I did not know if I was really this calm or it was its power.

After a long time, the existence opened its mouth.

"I am not god. It is you."

I looked dumbly at the figure before me. It was inconceivable, my mind cannot comprehend it even after desperately trying to do so.

"I am not a god. I am a mortal. I am dead now, aren't I?"

The existence looked at me silently.

"Everyone is god. Your soul cannot die, hereby you are here in the void. If I did not arrive, you would eventually learn how to use your powers. You would then create your own universe and fall into deep sleep."

I cannot understand what it was saying. I remember a certain myth back in my world. There was a being that once it woke up from its sleep, reality will cease to exist.

The existence before me was telling me that I am similar to that being. No, everyone is similar to that being. Then, there is this question.

Then who was the one who made the universe I am in?

I shook my head. I could now oddly move. I did not question it, as if everything that is happening is natural and not something to ponder over for.

"But I am an odd existence."

"What do you mean?"

I looked at the existence before me. Previously, my brain cannot comprehend it but without even noticing it, I could now see its eyes.

"I am here to make an offer. Everyone wants to do something before they go to sleep. I was like that as well. You still have your sense of self from your previous world. Do you want to live another life? This time, you will not be a normal person, you will be the main character."

"Can I...?"

I agreed with his words. I do not know how long I can keep my self here before I turn into something like the figure before me.

Emotions that once belonged to the person I called 'myself' in the previous world, ignited into a spark that cannot be quenched.

I am also a person who once dreamed of being reincarnated and possessing powers that could let me do anything. I cannot waste this chance.

"Let me help you. Where you do want to go?"

Various scenes flashed across my eyes. What felt like an eternity was a single instant for both me and the figure that stood before me. I have decided.

"You can have omnipotence if you want. It will be your choice what kind of power do you want to have. It does not matter whatever you do, just enjoy it."

I smiled at the existence before me. I could feel camaraderie with the existence beside me. I wonder if it was only I could feel though. Still, I will never forget this favor.

The existence had vanished. The white space around me crumbled and turned into darkness.

I was regaining control over my body. Yeah, 'this' body is now my body.

Today, I will be Baam. Tower of God, here I come.
