Chapter 9: His First Lover

It was nine o'clock in the evening. I just finished eating and taking a bath when I decided to reply to his letter.

'Dear King Levin,

Your Majesty, I sincerely thank you for the meal. Regarding what you said, I have no objections. Besides, that's the only way we'll be able to communicate, and you're not required to apologize. As a result, there was a commotion for our integration that we don't know who was responsible for.

Sincerely Yours,

Oceana Fleur Saoirse Hansen

"Eliz, hand this over to the post office."

"Yes, Your Highness." I followed Eliz out of my chamber then walk in the other direction as I climb up the staircase to the balcony to have aired before I sleep.

I opened the patio door to find cold but fresh air. My vellus hair stands up as the cold breeze brushes against my skin. I close my eyes and feel the wind on my curly hair as I begin to hum in ambiance.

Only my voice, the wind, and the ocean waves can be heard throughout me.

"What a soothing voice you have, Princess Oceana," a soft voice said from nowhere.

I turned around to see a beautiful redhead woman wearing a purple mantua.

"Lady Lucinda?"

There's a look of surprise on my face, whereas the daughter of a viscount arrived here at nine o'clock in the evening.

"Yes, It is I."

"What are you doing here?"

"Are you sure that you don't know the purpose of my advent?" she asked with her poker face.

I suddenly felt irked because of the inexplicable question.

I cleared my throat, arduously trying to make myself calm.

"May I excuse me, Lady Lucinda. I asked you well so answer me thoroughly."

"Hmm... are you being full of yourself because you are in a high position?" I greet my teeth and clench my fists.

"Oh, you got offended?" she chuckles.

What is the purpose of this woman's presence here for me? Is it just to annoy me? But, as far as I can tell, that is not her point.

"First of all, it's not my fault that I was born to be a princess. Unlike you, who was just another viscount's daughter." her eyes widened in shock at my emancipate locution.

"Second, I don't think highly of myself just to say that I am an upper level than you. It's just the way it is."

"H-how dare you!" she was about to hit me when someone stopped her hand on the spur of the moment.

"And how dare you to hurt my future queen." a man with a deep voice spouts behind her.

"L-Levin! My love!" she turns around and swiftly hugged him.

And now, I know the reason she went here. I smiled when I thought of tease her.

"There's some news that reached my nation that you will marry this woman! What does this mean?!"

"Lucinda, we are already over for almost 7 years! Moreover, I have not loved you ever since. Only grandpa who introduced you to me when we were young to make you my queen but I can't see that in you. You're not even suited to be my spouse! And do you think I'll come back to you, now that I saw you intend to hurt Princess Oceana?!"

"N-no! I-I was not g-going to hurt her!" she stammered.

"No?! I just lift it! If I weren't here, her face will be touched by these filthy hands!" her eyes widened even more. Her eyes looked teary because of what the king had said to her.

"D-Do I really look fil-"

"Yes! Now get out of here! And don't call me by my name! I am not on your level!" her face looked like she was going berserk. She grips her hands tightly then turns around and walks away.

"Wait a minute, Lady Lucinda." she stopped in her tracks.

"I would like to enlighten you that King Levin himself effortlessly came here and proposed to me."

"Argh!" she then runs away as I chuckled but immediately stopped after the realization.

"What are you doing here, Your Majesty?" I look at him bewildered.

"I came here promptly because I have good news." he smiled.

"But wait. Before that, isn't it dangerous to cross the ocean in the nighttime?"

"I'll risk everything for you, My Queen." as I get flustered.

'Not again'

"My good news is we already found the culprit." I opened my mouth in thunderstruck.

"He was one of my knights. I suppose that he's new. General McGunning is the one who captured him when he arrives back. He caught him soaking the nocks to the barrel of poisons in the underground armament."

"But why? Why would he do that?" he sighs.

"I don't know either. It's just too random when you think much about it."

"Did you asked who is his target to the two of us?" he leans on the wall then puts his hands in his pockets.

"Us."

Us?

"You mean, we?" I pointed to myself and him as he nods.

"But why?"

"He doesn't talk. So, at this time, he still gets tortured in jail." I sigh then an idea hits me.

"I don't want to accuse someone but I think I have an idea who is behind this." he looks at me then raised his eyebrows.

"Try to investigate Lady Lucinda." he stared at me confounded.

"Oh, Why didn't I think about that." as he put his hand on his forehead.

"How dumb am I." he chuckles.

"Your assumption may be right. I'll compose someone to investigate her." I nod in agreement then silence prevailed between the two of us.

Awkwardness filled our surroundings with the whooshing sound of the wind passing through my ears.

"Anyways, I have to go now, Princess. I still have some tasks to do before bedtime." he suddenly indicates.

"Oh, okay. Take care, Your Majesty" I said, bidding it as a goodbye then he quickly pecks my forehead.

"I'll come again tomorrow." he then pats my head.

"Te amo, Prinsesa."
