Chapter 15: A Little Panicked

The first ring was supposed to be worn if I say yes to him.

Oh...

"And if you don't mind, if it's a yes, put the ring on your finger." what King Levin said to me that day of his proposal rang in my head.

Should I wear it now?

"What's the problem, Your Highness? You look confused." Eliz said while putting the clothes in my wardrobe.

"I was supposed to wear this if I say yes to him..." I said with a soft tone.

"Oh, about the proposal."

"Yeah. Well, I still don't know..." I lazily got up and went back to crouching on the bed.

"Your Highness, His Majesty probably not rushing you to your decision." Eliz stated.

I couldn't speak anymore and just stared at the ceiling.

Wait...

I quickly sit up when I thought about something.

"Eliz." I looked intently at her with my eyes wide open.

"Yes, Your Highness?"

"I think I get it now."

"Pardon, Your Highness?"

"What if that surprise proposal of him was actually a proposal to be his... you know... as an official couple?" I kind of get blushed of my presumption.

"But Your Highness, he proposed to you in the day of assembly for your marriage."

"Oh... right..."

I flop myself again on my bed and heavily sighed.

"Or maybe it's possible." she shrugged her shoulders.

"Uuuuggghh." I whine as she chuckles.

"You'll know it if you personally ask His Majesty, Your Highness." Eliz suggested.

I can also ask him that to clarify but I'm timid. He might think I'm assuming things.

"No, I can't. It's too embarrassing to ask. Besides, I'm afraid too. Maybe he'll think that I'm imagining things." I playfully blow my hair that blocks my forehead.

"Then you have no choice, Your Highness. But I think it's better that you open up about it with him." I once again sigh. Eliz finally finished folding my clothes then she sat beside me.

"You're worrying too much, Your Highness. Those rings were willingly gave by His Majesty. You can wear both of them."

"I know. But I am just not comfortable wearing them without his words."

"Words? Why do you have to get a permission from His Majesty when it was already given to you?" I saw Eliz at the corner of my eye, facepalming.

"Hehe sorry, Eliz. I know that I stress you for some small things like this. I just don't know what to do since I don't know King Levin at the first place." I sweetly smile at her and approach her with a hug to coax her.

"It's okay, Your Highness. Even though you're physically a grown woman, your mind is still mentally a little bit childish." her hand shows a gesture with thumb and index finger in close as I pout from her articulation.

"I am just sweet. I am not childish." I complain.

"You've been with me in ten years. You're not just a personal handmaid of mine and also not a best friend. I consider you as my big sister." I lean my head on her chest and tightly hug her.

"Aww, Your Highness. You don't need to be a toady."

"Oh yeah? But when you're with Mr. Luca your face were red as tomato." Eliz suddenly reddens as she averted her eyes from me.

A smirk appears on my lips.

"Oh, I forgot that I still have laundries left. Excuse me, Your Highness." she stands up and fixes her hairband.

"Eliz, you already folded all of them."

"I-I mean, Her Majesty's clothes! Yes!" she swiftly walks with her head bowed down as a figure of a man appears in front of her then bumps her head since she's not looking while she's walking away from me.

"Ah-Eeek!" she hurriedly exited my chamber and run straight to the right.

"Eliz! The laundrette was on the left!" I saw her run back past to my chamber.

"May I know what happened, Your Highness? Miss Eliz looks red." Mr. Luca noticed.

"Oh, it's nothing. Hehe." I evily laugh as his eyes looked menacing.

"Anyways, Why did you come here?"

"Oh, yes. Pardon my intrusion, Your Highness. I just came back from escorting His Majesty. He forgot to tell you that he will not visit you for four days."

Four days?

I felt my knees get numbed. I stepped back and stumbled on my feet and sat on my bed, feeling dumbfounded.

"Uhm... Your Highness? I would also like to inform you that the nuptials will happen in the next four days." I look up to Luca and he just smiled.

Oh...

Okay, I get it now.

It's about the superstition, not seeing one another before the ceremony can make that first moment as walking down the aisle even more special. I think it's their tradition too. Both of us shouldn't see each other until the ceremony was born.

Flustered, I stand up and straightened my skirt as I clear my throat.

"But why four days?" I asked.

"Well, from what I know, the venue were going to be held in the Kingdom of Mondreich, yes?"

"So?"

"They were going to prepare a special wedding for you and His Majesty, Your Highness."

"I see..." as Luca chuckled.

I hate to say this but I slightly panicked at his statement.

"I see that you already miss His Majesty." I averted my eyes from him as he once again chuckled.

"I'll get going now, Your Highness." he exited my chamber as Eliz stopped running while carrying a basket full of clothes, still looking red as Luca blocked the hallway.

"Miss Eliz, you know that Her Majesty doesn't want anyone running in the hallway."

"S-sorry. Get out of my way!" she bumped Mr. Luca as he leaned on my door caused by Eliz hitting him with the basket. A cloth went to his head and the others were already scattered in the hallway.

"Miss Eliz! The clothes! Get back here!" he grab the scattered clothes then run to follow her.

Someday, they will perfectly fit for each other.

I silently chuckle at my own prediction.
