             Kiekie's POV.

I was awaken by my alarm clock ringtone. I groaned as I sat up on my bed rubbing my eyes.

It was 7:30 am!

Oxygen Magnesium! (OMg) I'm late!

I quickly, removed the duvet that was  covering my legs and  threw it, God knew where!

Note to myself: I will search for it later. I told myself.

I ran to the bedroom struggling to remove my nightgown, at the same time  brushing my teeth.

Thank God, I prepared my uniform last night. I took bath within three minutes. That was the fastest bath, I have ever taken in my 15 years of existence!

I quickly wore my uniform  ran out of the house to get a tricycle. Our  uniform color is a  green jumper, white shirt, white socks and black shoes. You either use a green or black bag  in all Catholic schools under CES( Catholic Education Secretariat). I had a black, HP backpack.

My parents had cars and drivers. They told the drivers to stop taking me to school, because I wanted to become a chemist. Here in Liberia, chemist don't make good money. Most of them don't even have job, because there aren't enough  industries here!

"A chemist have no right to enjoy the fruits of  our  business money" said my parents.

Dumb right?

"For heaven sake, who process the oil they are fixing at the company?"  It is a chemist!

"The chemist carries out all of the chemical testing in most industries." I just didn't understand them! Who does that? Who stop their child from having access to things that is theirs from birth?

I am late! I don't have time to think about all these things. I thought to myself.

I was so late. It was Monday. The first day of the week, I was late! I was sure that  I had missed my favorite class, Chemistry!

I contacted a tricycle rider to take me to school, since I didn't have a driver.

Cleo had already left for school. Cloe Brown is my best friend, the big sister I don't have. I have a sister and a bother, but the don't care about me! My big sister hates me with everything she has. She always blame me for her misfortune.

Poor thing! Tsk…tsk.. I pity that girl. I wonder how is she?

My sister lives in South Africa, Cape town. That is where she is  studying,  at the "University of Cape town."

Cleopatra had always been there for me,, through storms and calms. She is the best thing that have every happened to me, since I came to Liberia and started knowing myself.

I knew she was very worried, about me because I was late.  She can really be a handful, when she's angry.

Narrator: Oh! Really Keke?

Keke: That's the truth!

Narrator: You are so mean!!

Keke: I love you!

Narrator: Love you more! Now, back to your story!

At 8:20 am, I was stocked in a little traffic. The road at beer's factory was narrow. Traffic was normally there, especially when ministry of transportation was  conducting an inspection.

At 8:37 am, I arrived on St. Mary's campus. I paid the rider and  ran to the gate. The security guard felt sorry for me and  allowed me to enter without writing down my name, for punishment after school, or detaining me for a period before entering in class!

I ran to class, as fast as my feet could take me. I reached the door, at 8:39. I was breathless from running. My class was a bit far from the gates. I was anxious and nervous.

My palms started to sweat, all eyes were on me! My heart, started to beat faster. Cleo, tried to communicate with me though  eyes contact, but I was too nervous to  understand what she meant. She  was studying physiology, so she could read people from their eyes.

Chuck, Anna, Annette and Amanda, gave me the mocking look. They were the devils sent from hell to ruined my life.

Go… Good Morning, Mr. Randolph. I said stuttering.

Good morning, Miss Johnson. You're late! He replied.

I'm sorry, Mr. Randolph! I overslept. I replied with my head bend to the ground staring at my shoes.

Who tells their teacher that? Only a silly person will tell their professor "Oh, hi! I overslept so I am late. Can I come in class?

I was there silly student that, did that. (Sighed)

"Okay, Kiekie. Try to get rest sooner! You can enter in class."

Oh, wasn't him so sweet. Thanks God for teachers like  Mr. Randolph.

"Thank you sir." I replied as I used vampire speed to walk in class.

I walked  with my head bend down. I shyly  greeted everyone. Others answer me nicely, but  there devil's children decided to bully me, that  early morning by calling me "madam principal."

I  ignored them,  as I took my seat.

I  greeted Cleo in French with a whisper, when  I turned to hung my backpack on my seat.

Mr. Randolph, discussed the quiz we wrote on last Friday. He distributed the papers to everyone, expect me!

I started get  panic attack.

My parents words, rang in my head.

" You are good for nothing Kiekie!"

"I wished I never had you!"

"You're useless!"

They always said to words to me, since I started knowing myself. When I decided to study science instead of arts, it got worsts!

My vision started to get blur. I bend  my head down on my desk and started to cried. OH! (oxygen hydroxide), God!

Narrator: Should you use the elements name, before you know the word?

Keke: Oh, yeah!. It helped me memorized the modern periodic table. Remember?

Narrator: How can I ever forget that?

"Why am I so useless!"

"I couldn't even pass that simple modern Periodic quiz. About identifying the name of the giving symbols and listing the first sixty elements!"

"God I wish, I  could just die!"

"I am totally useless! I am a disgrace to my family. They called me bad luck!"

"Please Lord...please…take my life away!" I prayed silently.

After few seconds; I heard my name! I thought I was hallucinating. Did he…. Just say, I have the highest score? Kiekie, stop dreaming! I pitched myself to know, if  I was hearing things, or dreaming.

After few more seconds! I lifted my head wiped my eyes and looked at  Mr. Randolph, smiling at me!...He told everyone, that  I will be the one attending his birthday dinner, as my reward for having the highest score. I could invite a friend of my choice. He said.

Oh, my gosh! (Oxygen Magnesium)  Did I just hear him, right? I asked myself. That… that was so amazing! He almost gave me a heart attack.

I don't think I  am useless like my parents thinks. Even though, I was not good at arts subjects, expect the sciences . I am a little useful. I though to myself smiling.

Time passed by quickly! Cleo, and I were outside the fence waiting to catch a tricycle or taxi. Anna, pushed me form the back, I felt to the ground.

My knees, cut deeply, because of the rocks. Cleo, tried helping me up, to my feet, but a cup of red juice, was wasted over my head, which spoiled, my white uniform blouse.

I promise to publish the first chapter on November 29, which is my dad's birthday; but I'm so excited to publish this, that's why I did it sooner.

Please pardon me for grammatical errors.
