Karen gaily walked into her house, happy dancing as she arrived the living room. She knew the giddy feeling won't last long, but she wanted to enjoy and live in the moment. Her Dad wasn't at home, so she was alone with all the house helps who gave her weird looks, as they weren't used to seeing their Miss that happy. She walked upstairs skipping a few steps but came right back down when she remembered something.
"Oh Mrs Williams". Karen calls out entering into the kitchen.
"Karen you are home, how was school". Mrs Williams, a middle aged woman who also happens to be the chef, beams excited.
"It was great". Karen smiles sheelessly like a little kid on Christmas.
"You look very excited, what happened". Mrs Williams asks.
"Oh nothing much, school was just great today". Replied karen.
"Hmm, something super awesome must have happened to make my girl this happy". Mrs Williams says wiggling her eyebrows. That woman can be something else. She has always been more of a mother than a chef to Karen.
"Yeah, I think I got a new friend today, oh and you can't believe what happened". Karen says jumping up and down like a little child.
"Really, tell me". Mrs Williams asks, she looked up to throw a few glances at a overjoyed Karen as she cooked lunch.
"Her name is sophia and stood up to Tina and totally told her off. Tina was cringed and walked away with smoke coming out of her ears". Karen says as the two erupted in laughter.
"Karen I think it is time you stand up to Tina, she has done enough and now that you have a friend, you have support". Mrs Williams says completely leaving what she was doing to look at karen. She knew a little about karen being bullied in school but Karen made her swear not to tell her Dad or anyone else.
"Yeah I just need the right time and Mrs Amiliya can you please bring my lunch to my room. Since Dad is not here I rather eat upstairs". Karen says smiling trying to avoid the topic. Mrs Williams knew karen was just trying to avoid the topic as usual, karen always calls her by her first name whenever she's nervous.
"Ok dear". Mrs Williams says returning her smile. Karen quickly used the opportunity to escape. She skilfully glide and escaped from the kitchen.
She went up to her room and changed into something more comfortable. She wore a gean shorts and baggy shirt and sat at her favorite spot in her room, infront of the wide window with white eyelet curtains. The sunlight filtered in from the window, illuminating her bed and the surrounding floor as it was the only source of light in the room. Karen always prefers her room dimly lit.
Karen always seats there to get herself entertained because many things happen on the roads.
She had witnessed new neighbors move into the house opposite them a few days ago. She had sat there for hours just watching them unpack, yeah she can be a creep at times. But karen was also a curious person, she always minds her business but sometimes secretly spy's on people.
She spends her days ogling, spying and drawing. She now sat at her window, drawing the new neighbors house and watching them. She could be a spy, she only needs to posue it.
When lunch was ready, Mrs Williams brought it up to Karen's room, forcing her to quite drawing and eat.
After eating lunch karen decided to read a novel. Her second favorite thing after drawing.
"Miss Karen, your Dad is home". Mrs Williams says entering Karen's room. About from her Dad, Mrs. Williams is the only person that can enter into Karen's room unannounced.
"Ok I will be down in a bit". Karen says putting her drawing book on her table and then headed down stairs.
"Daddy". Karen shrills jumping into her Dad's arms like a little girl.
"Princess, how are you". Mr Jaxtyn says hugging back his daughter.
"Am fine daddy, how's work".
"Oh dear, very stressful". Mr Jaxtyn says breaking the hug. They both sat down and talked some more as Mrs Williams served them drinks.
"Umm princess, I have something for you". Mr Jaxtyn says putting his hands inside his pocket.
"What". Karen asks excitement portraying in her eyes. Mr Jaxtyn removes a few slips of paper and hands them to Karen. Karen's now having a bad feeling, her Dad buys her concert tickets whenever he has bad news. Music is the third thing Karen loves. Mr Jaxtyn buys either a new novel, drawing book or concert tickets mostly when he has bad news.
"This are tickets to watch your favorite band perform". Mr Jaxtyn says smiling at his daughter.
"Thanks Dad". Karen says hugging her Dad.
"Uhh Karen I have to talk to you about something". Said Mr Jaxtyn. She knew it, he definitely has news for her.
"Yes Dad". Karen looks at her Dad suspiciously through her thick lashes.
"What? why are you looking at me like that, I haven't stole your cookies". Mr Jaxtyn says rolling his eyes.
"Yes daddy, but you always buy me something to make me happy whenever you have bad news for me and you also look unsure. Tell me daddy, what happened". Karen says.
"Uhmm darling, I have to go to Toronto for a project tomorrow and won't be back until in two weeks". Mr Jaxtyn says sighing. Karen's eyes widen at this, but she knew her Dad has to go so why make him feel bad.
"Don't worry Dad, Mrs Williams would be here with me so I would be fine. Go make me proud hero". Karen says giving her Dad a sidewards hug. She knew she is going to miss him, but she also knows that his doing all this to give her the best life possible. Being the only child, Karen was always her parents favorite.
"Thanks sweetie". Says Mr Jaxtyn kissing the top of Karen's head.
"Ok now I have to go and change, I hope you've had your lunch". Mr Jaxtyn asks standing up.
"Yes Daddy, Mrs Williams forced me to eat lunch and dinner would soon be ready". Karen reply's.
"Good, ok I would be down in a bit". He says walking up stairs.
After Mr Jaxtyn changed, the two ate dinner together and watched some TV before retiring for the night.
Karen thought she would be over exhausted when she retired for the night but she actually felt happy. Smiling and recalling the days events, Karen slowly drifted to sleep, travelling to her la la land.
