Blood Drawn

Darkness like a thick velvet drape blinded Sagacious as he awoke. He couldn't see the hand in front of his face, his head hurt and something very heavy was laying on his legs. He tried to remember what had happened. He remembered falling, he'd manifested his wings, Kalli had slowed the fall of herself and everyone else, and then… Then something had exploded around them a second time, and dispelled the magics holding them aloft. Dammit, the killer had done his due diligence, Sagacious had to admit angrily. His head pounding he managed a weak spell, a silvery pale light flickering on the end of his fingers. There was rubble everywhere and as he saw what had pinned him down, he almost faltered and lost his light. A slab of solid granite had fallen across his legs from the knees down, and a crimson stain was already large around him and spreading.
