Guns and daggers

Alice walked in front of Noah. She didn't look back or say anything.

Noah could tell she was angry because he suddenly kissed her but he didn't understand why. It wasn't their first kiss, before he left for country A they would always give each other a peck on the lips.

As Noah mulled over Alices' reaction, the duo made it back to town in silence.

They went straight to the training ground. Over there they met Edward again.

"Have you two gotten the money?"

"Yes," Noah responded.

Edward waved his hand and a screen appeared with multiple skills written on it.

"All these skills are the most basic skills that make up combat, called 'weapon mastery skills'. Skills such as [Sword Mastery], [Shield Mastery], [Bow Mastery] and so on."

Edward looked at the two standing in front of him and said, "For you, boy you have a strong physique and I can tell that you have trained in combat. I recommend a melee weapon, like the sword or spear."

"For the girl, compared to the boy you are much weaker you won't be able to even carry most of these weapons. I recommend you choose [Firearm Mastery]. It would be best a light one at that. You'll be able to support from a safe spot-"

"[Dagger Mastery]" Alice chooses to not bother about what he was saying.

"Girl I recommend you listen to me and change you don't have the talent for using-"

*cough* *cough*

"She's made her decision, although you are trying to help I see no need for you to continue speaking. I'll choose [Firearm Mastery]. We would like to learn the skill." Noah lost all the happiness he felt from kissing Alice.

This man had not only compared Alice to him and called her weak, but he also went on to call her untalented. He didn't like the way he spoke to Alice. He was already on Noah's enemy list.

Edward was shocked by what Noah had said and how both had not taken their advice. But he decided that he might have said too much.

"Both of you have made your decision. I'll train you in [Firearm Mastery]. That woman over there is the instructor for [Dagger Mastery]."

Alice turned around and left for her instructor. Noah also followed his.

Noah was brought to an open shooting range. With targets lining one side. In a look, he counted ten of them. The first target was the closest, but as you moved along the row the targets moved further and further away from the place he was supposed to shoot from.

"This whole training session will take 7 days. You will have 3 hours of shooting practice, 3 hours of physical training, 1 hour of theory and finally 3 hours of combat training with your weapon. You will do this for 7 days."

"Is there a way to shorten the time?'

"To get the skill you only need a minimum of 3 hours of training with your weapon for seven days. But when you get the skill you will barely meet the minimum requirements and won't be able to handle a real combat situation."

Edward then stopped and looked at Noah. "I can tell that you are trained in combat but I recommend you don't get too overconfident or people like you die first."

Noah didn't say anything.

At the training ground, Noah was given a basic pistol as a training weapon.

"You'll only need to train with a single type of gun to get the [Firearm Mastery] skill. Now you have 3 hours, your goal is to have three consecutive shots hit the centre of the target."

As Edward finished speaking the system formed a screen.

_____

Task

Hit the centre of the target three times consecutively

_____

Noah looked at the target it wasn't too far away. He held the gun in his left hand and casually shot at the target.

*Bang*

The system had a screen tell him where the bullet hit on the target. It showed that he had completely missed.

Noah nodded and expected as much, it had been a while since he had last held a gun. It would take a couple of shots until he got back into his rhythm. He continued to shoot five times in a row. All his shots hit the target now and each one was closer to the centre.

Noah pulled the gun back and took a deep breath. Then in a swift movement, he shot three times.

Ding!

[Task complete.]

Edward nodded as he approached Noah, "Well done, I can see why you choose [Firearm mastery] looks like you are already quite proficient at using a gun."

"Now since you have completed the first goal, now move on to a further target and try to get three consecutive shots at the centre."

Noah moved on to the next target and shot again. He had nine targets left.

He kept on moving to the next target until he reached the furthest target in less than 10 minutes. At the furthest target, Noah couldn't hit the target at all.

The target was way too far making it impractical for a simple pistol to hit it. The last two targets were already something that he wouldn't have been able to do on earth with a pistol.

As he was shooting he noticed that his senses were a lot stronger, so was his concentration. His entire body worked almost robotically in its control. He could easily make the minuscule adjustments he had to make to hit the centre of the target.

His awakened talents had brought him to an inhumane level. The effects the system had told him were just a summary of his talents main effects. They had caused many more subtle changes as well.

The talent 'Spatial Sense', after experiencing it a bit more he understood using it was like his nose sniffing to smell something. If he concentrated on it, such as sniffing in a scent, he would be able to experience that magical omniscient sight but he would soon have a headache. This was similar to the stronger scent you would experience when sniffing a smell. What he had to do was not focus and let the sense work on its own.

For the Spatial Sense, he just had to focus on the target and he was able to get a clear visualisation of it. He was able to easily tell the target's relative position to the gun he was holding. It made it a lot easier for him to know where to shoot to hit the center.

His other talents 'Blessed Mind' and 'Genius Martial Combat body' combined together to make it so his body could keep up with what he was sensing. The control over his body and the level of stability he had shown was something impossible for him on earth. The target was so far that even the tiniest downward movement of the barrel of the gun would cause the bullet to hit the ground and miss the target.

His body was able to still keep up with that level of precision needed to hit the targets.

Noah was actually quite happy with what he had achieved. He had been trained in using guns since he was 10 years old. It was one of the weapons he was most proficient in. But in fact, he had always used his right hand to shoot not his left hand, which he was using.

Experiencing his awakened talents was something unexpected he was actually testing the [Ambidextrous] trait. And sure enough, even though he had barely trained using his left hand he had almost reached the same accuracy he had with his right hand. The system had balanced external factors and made it so even if he trained with one hand the other could mirror the movements.

Noah wanted to end his training as quickly as possible and look for Alice. So he switched the pistol to his right hand and shot three times. It was still more comfortable for his whole body. Even if his hands had the same level of control, the angle he would look aim at the target and the posture he would stand in was different. The little details made all difference.

With the gun now in his right hand, he felt a lot more familiar while holding it. His aim improved and so did the speed of his shooting. After a few shots, he was able to complete his task.

"Am I done for today?" Noah asked.

"No. I didn't think you would have been so skilled. We'll move on to moving targets now. Follow me."

They reached an open ground and then entered on what seemed like a light blue screen. Noah liked it since he could see Alice from where he would be training.

"Now you'll shoot moving targets."

Edward went to the side and released a white bird from a metallic cage kept in the field. It flew around the field.

"It's a puppet, it'll regenerate every time you shoot it and at every 3 consecutive shots, the bird will split into two. You will then need to shoot both of those birds 3 times consecutively. Then they'll double in number. It will continue in that pattern. See how many birds you can reach."

Noah nodded and held the gun in his left hand and started to shoot.
