God-Slayer, Well... Not Really

The dense arcane energy dome protected Abraxas from Eidiri's knife.

"You'll never be able to get through this! Never!" Abraxas cried.

"Well there's the defense you mentioned there, Ken," Edgar commented.

"If one of us is willing to stay here, I can run and ask about the Church of Light or whatever and get them to come over or something," Edgar then suggested.

"We don't have enough time for that Edgar," Eidiri said while continuing to stab the barrier.

"Let's think about this rationally," Ken said. "Why did he want the blood? He's in an infant state right now."

"I say that he's using the blood as a power source, hence him being an Evil God is because he deprives others of life to fuel his power."

"Based on this, what he just said is a lie, the barrier will most likely not hold forever. It'll only last as long as the blood here lasts. Not to mention, if we can somehow remove the blood from the circle the barrier will probably drop instantaneously."

"Unfortunately, we don't really have a way to remove the blood," Eidiri said. "It's not like we have water magic or mops."

"Just help me out here, we'll all stab at it together, exhaust the power faster and all that."

After hearing what Eidiri said, they all went up and started attacking the blood barrier together. While their weapons didn't do any visible damage, as they continued to attack it, the blood in the circle slowly began to dissipate.

After a while, the barrier began to display visible damage, slowly a spider-web of cracks laced over the surface.

As the damage to the barrier increased, the Evil-God lost its cocky look, developing a light sheen of sweat and gritting in frustration.

Just another minute it thought to itself, then its stupid followers would arrive and they would offer themselves as they should.

"It's nearly broken," cried Edgar, the barrier had been splintered badly and looked to be on the verge of shattering.

Seeing this, he raised his dagger for the last time, slashing quickly for the last time, this time the swing shattered the blood, the red pieces shimmering like glass, falling to the ground in a heap.

Now that the body was unprotected the three of them rushed, prepared to finally end this farce of a boss battle.

But to their surprise, Abraxas burst out with a layer of latent power, and while this wave of power wasn't harmful in any particular way, it did launch the three of them backward.

This split second that Abraxas had bought for himself had allowed for the rest of the forces of the Cult of Shadows to arrive on the scene.

Seeing the manifestation of their god in trouble, they rushed forwards ready to lay down their lives in defense.

The mobbed Eidiri, Ken, and Edgar. A frenzied swarm all rushing onwards.

They raised shoddily made clubs above their heads, chanting dark mantras to boost their power, a dark aura looming overhead.

The players were heavily outnumbered, this would most certainly be a difficult battle.

A cultist jabbed his club forwards, catching Edgar in the ribs. The surprise attack from the trees had startled them all, leading to them falling in a bit of disarray.

Edgar was lost in the surprise attack, the jab in the ribs caused him to lose his balance and fall.

When he fell, he was pinned to the ground, and the mob swiftly fell upon him, brutally tearing him apart.

Bruise after bruise and blow after blow, Edgar's meager health points rapidly depleted, resulting in hum respawning back outside the village gate.

Ken and Eidiri were now left by themselves, one of their members had already been taken. It didn't look like they would make it out of this alive.

They acknowledged how they wouldn't be able to get out of this one alive, the deep fanaticism of the cultists here caused them to be willing to throw away their lives in protection of their god.

And to them, Eidiri and Ken were labeled as threats, as such they were to be terminated.

At least the soldiers before had some instinct of self-preservation but none of that was to be found here.

They practically threw themselves at the duo, weapons lashing out in hopes of striking flesh.

"Take as many of them out as possible?" Eidiri asked.

"Sure," Ken replied.

Although the scene was quite fearsome, in reality, they both knew there was nothing to be fearful of.

It was like a horror movie, it's scary yes, but we can all recognize the fact that it's not real. If this were a real scene that both of them would be screaming already.

But since it's a game, they stood fast, knowing that all they'd lose would be some Exp and maybe an item.

Compared to that, their harvest so far outweighed the cons.

So why not go out fighting? Maybe secure a little more Exp.

They had already hit the borderline of Lvl 9, at most, they'll drop to just above Lvl 8.

Ken leaped in the fray first, his knife hacking anything that got close to him, his body being splattered with blood.

It really was a shame that they weren't able to get rid of Abraxas' vessel, now he would be able to recuperate its power at a much faster pace.

With that last thought, Eidiri followed Ken and jumped into the fray as well, Steel Song lashing out in his right hand, Fury Fist being channeled in his left.

Ken had already used Wither Strike, adding that little bit more power to each of his strikes.

After dispatching 3 or so of the cultists, Ken grabbed the items they had dropped before succumbing to his wounds, joining Edgar as a spirit in the Revival Circle, both of them waiting for their respective timers to give them new bodies.

Eidiri was still struggling, against the cultists, slowly kiting them around. Of course, he was much lower in energy/stamina, and eventually, the swarm caught up to him.

With this kiting tactic, he was able to finish off 4 more cultists out of the force that was 26.

As the life flowed out of his body, he felt numb amounts of pain in his chest as he was beaten, his face badly bruised.

His hand limply reached out collecting the loot, his vision fading into grey, but not before he saw the sickening sight of the blood that had been spilled slowly flowing towards Abraxas in the middle.
