Reaping Rewards

Edgar was the first one out of all of them to respawn, he sent them both a message that he was going to head off on his own to get back the Exp that he had lost in the prior conflict.

Before he left he sent them a last message saying to send him a message when they had both respawned.

Eidiri sent Edgar a message in response reminding him how they would be selling weapons today, given how it had been two days.

When Edgar came back, they would sort through the loot they had obtained on their adventure. The quest was accomplished, therefore it was abandoned (practically impossible since the head of the caravan was leading them into a trap).

By the time Ken and Eidiri had respawned, Edgar had managed to quickly grind himself to halfway to Lvl 9.

By the time Edgar had returned, they had organized the loot already, most of it was common iron weapons.

There were foodstuffs as well, dried/salted meats with hard bread. Thankfully, the food wouldn't go bad too quickly and would save them the cost of their next couple of meals.

The mage had dropped that weir magic scroll that they had dared not touch, they would need to find an artificer or at least someone who could appraise it for them.

They all took a set of the leather armor that had been dropped, and while the Poisoner Helm that Eidiri had was far better than the leather cap that came with the set, the set bonus was not something to just sneeze at.

The Leather Armor set, while each piece only granted 2 armor, the enhanced mobility they got from the armor was worth it, especially since they wielded daggers/knives, requiring them to have great mobility.

When the full set was equipped, they all received a 5% movement speed bonus and got a special set skill, Swift-Footed.

Swift-Footed - By activating this skill a very small portion of the power of the wind itself flows through you, enabling you to reach speeds humanly impossible.

When activated a small 125% movement speed buff is granted over a 5-second duration.

The benefits of the set far outweighed the value of that single Poisoner Helm, Eidiri decided to shelve it away for the time being.

They each took one of the 19 swords they had obtained, something to use at a greater range when their knives wouldn't be able to reach them.

From then on, Ken set off on his own, going ahead to his cooking job at the Haven Lodge with Mrs. Gloria, aiming to learn more dishes and whatnot.

Eidiri decided to go together with Edgar for the first time to go sell the weapons, a quick stop was made to inform Jarid what exactly he was doing.

Eidiri then whipped up a quick public blog post reminding everyone that the weapon sales would be today.

Edgar took their haul and placed it into his inventory before they set off.

"Sooo... do we have prices or anything like that?" Edgar asked.

"Nope, we're doing it auction-style. Try to get as much as possible you know? All these guilds want our weapons to give to their players. They want to secure a solid advantage over the public-beta players as well."

"Our weapons will help them with that. As such, they're willing to pay for them," Eidiri said.

By the time they had arrived at the village entrance, there was already a crowd of players waiting for them.

The previous chatter that had been going on disappeared as the 2 main characters arrived.

After all the noise had died down, Eidiri said, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have more gear than anticipated for auction today. Among these are some basic swords and leather armor as well. The leather armor comes in sets as well, each set providing a set bonus, as you should know."

Hearing that there were completed armor sets only served to raise the expectations of the people around them even further.

"You should know how the auction system works right?"

"Given that you guys probably don't have too much in-game currency either, all transactions here are to be through real-life currency. Understood?"

To this, the people waiting there simply nodded.

"Okay, now that that's settled, we're going to start displaying the items now. In stock, we currently have 11 knives, 16 swords, and 6 sets of leather armor. Apart from that we also have some loose pieces of the leather armor sets, 2 chest pieces, and a pair of boots," Eidiri said.

To this Edgar took out the items from his inventory allowing people to see the effects and stats of the items for themselves.

First, Eidiri started the bidding on the swords, letting the participants view the items to their leisure.

The initial starting bid had to be at least $5,000 with each subsequent bid having to be in increments of at least $1,000.

As soon as the bidding started, a voice called out from the crowd, "The Desmos Guild has laid claim to these weapons. Please do not contest," placing the initial bid of $5000.

"How arrogant", some of the other players commented.

Do they really think they're important enough to be able to just monopolize this? At most, they're just a group of 4th rate players with a 3rd rate leader.

All kinds of people were here to try to secure an advantage, a 4th rate guild wouldn't be able to just sponge up the resources.

This initial bid set off a flood of bidding, each bidder calling out their respective organizations, whether it be long-established E-sports organizations like that of Dominion or up and coming guilds like Integritas.

The price of the first sword alone was driven all the way up to $11,000.

While the previous weapons that were sold were indeed much more profitable, now they were in greater supply, of course, the price would change.

The profit margin though was indeed sizable and with the money, he would earn, even after it was split, Eidiri would be able to have more than enough to pay off his tuition fees.
