A Master Forger's Work

Eidiri then eagerly awaited outside of the forge, waiting for Jarid to finish the items.

Meanwhile, he decided to scroll through the community forums, checking the latest news. There had to be some sort of interesting activity now that the open beta would be in just under 2 days.

Opening the forums, the top post that Eidiri was instantly hit with was organization advertisements, each one competing for the loudest voice to see who would be louder and attract more new blood.

Each guild was advertising their presence, but the problem was that even if they were some sort of big guild, they didn't really possess significant advantages in the game that would attract actual talents, at most they would rely upon their fame.

Furthermore, there were new players-to-be spamming posts about wishing to be carried, some acting as young girls that would do anything even. It was truly a shame for those that would get catfished.

Well, such matters were of little importance to Eidiri. On the previous topic of gaming organizations though, Eidiri now remembered that Protinus contract that he had been offered.

In the downtime he now had, he formulated a quick response confirming his satisfaction with the contract, making sure to express his willingness to comply with the contract as long as Ken and Edgar were also reached out to.

Very quickly, Rachel responded, "Hey Eidiri, we received your assent to this contract. After we finish up the little legal matters on our end, you'll officially be a contracted player of Protinus, congratulations!"

"As you can tell by your welcome into Protinus, your 2 friends, Edgar and Ken, I believe have also had offers extended and they are currently mulling them over."

"You'll be expected to help Protinus develop within Tyranny, be aware that this open-beta opening is a critical moment for our development, as such we hope that you'll be able to produce some sort of gear utilizing your forging skills."

"Yea sure, I'll be fine with that. I look forward to working with you," Eidiri said. "If that's all, then I'll be getting 'round to making those weapons now then."

"Great then, well since that's all, I won't disturb you any longer and let you get to your work. Have a great day and here's to our future cooperation," Rachel replied.

At that, the conversation was finished and Eidiri continued forging some basic gear for what was now his affiliated guild.

He decided he would try to get in 20 grey tier weapons for Protinus, the worst quality out of them all, but still ahead of what others could obtain, at least if they weren't lucky in terms of chest drops.

And even chests were rare to find.

As such, he quickly did a mass forging of knives, sure the quality would be reduced with such a procedure, but it would ensure that the knives would be ready.

Protinus should be happy with what they could get, after all, they surely had to understand that he's really the only player forger right now.

Something that was unfortunate as a side effect of this mass manufacture method was the drop-off in experience though, something that while anticipated was also unfortunate.

If he kept on having to rely on this mass manufacture stuff, the tradeoff wouldn't be quite as worth it as he progressed further and further.

Hopefully, his role would deviate from mass production to making quality work once others unlocked the secrets of forging.

This shouldn't be too difficult to achieve as long as he stayed a bit ahead of the pack.

With a shrug of his shoulders, Eidiri sighed, abandoning this line of thought for now.

After a couple of rushed swings, several shoddily-produced knives were made, they would only buff the player's dmg by at most 2 points but they would have to do for now.

While their early foundation was quite important, Protinus also understands the equal (if not greater) importance of nurturing those with talent.

As such, Eidiri didn't think they would necessarily apply pressure to him.

By the time, Eidiri had finished up this batch of knives, Master Jarid walked from his workstation in the forge, his arms piled with different kinds of gear.

"Here boy!" Master Jarid called out to Eidiri.

"Pick a piece, any piece you'll like and it's yours," Jarid said.

Eidiri's eyes scanned over the available pieces of gear on the table, a pair of armored boots, some greaves, a knife, and a shortsword.

Eidiri was already quite satisfied with his current Steel Song, so he didn't really see the need for yet another knife.

He also had a full set of armor pieces right now, therefore, he didn't really want to ruin the synergy of the pieces by adding in a clearly superior piece that disrupted the flow.

As such, he examined the Short Sword, running his finger across the blade that was slick with oil.

"Ah, so you're interested in this little piece here!" exclaimed Jarid.

"This one will serve you well," he then said, "one of my finer works handling this kind of ore."

Eidiri then scanned the details of the sword.

"Saxum Gladius - A sword crafted from Shimerring Low-Tier Magical Grade Ore by the hands of the Master Forger Jarid. This sword would truly serve its wielder well, possessing characteristics of the Earth the ore it's composed of was birthed in.

Rock Solid- When cast, it grants a minor shield on the caster, blocking a flat amount of damage (7).

This Rock Solid skill was quite literally, a life-saver. when cast it would block a total of 7 hit points.

Already this is about a third of Eidiri's current Hp. Not to mention, that the strength of the skill would most likely increase and he leveled up the weapon and improved it further.

For the job he had done, this sort of reward was quite satisfactory, and he accepted it gratefully, profusely thanking Jarid for his work.

"If you want to thank me boy, you'll clear out those Caverns," Jarid said with a twisted expression on his face.

"If you clear them out, then I wouldn't even be able to thank you then," Jarid said, a hint of sorrow lacing his words.
