Something Smells Smokey, Wonder Why?

Sha'Varsk plummeted into the hungry clutches of the flames, the fire quickly burning the last vestige of webbing that it was clinging onto.

With an eerie shrieking, it plummeted to the cavern floor, its many legs grabbing at the air, trying to grab onto something, anything to hoist itself upwards.

However, Sha'Varsk's efforts were futile, and it fell into the raging flames.

It trashed and shook, trying to put out the flames that lickes all around it, but these actions only aggravated the flame, inciting it onwards, roasting Sha'Varsk alive.

Eidiri, Edgar, and Ken had retreated back to the tunnel that they had used to enter this cavern in order to escape the harsh heat of the fire.

They merely waited for Sha'Varsk to die to the fire, polishing off the food that Ken had brought to bring them back to full health.

But much to their surprise, the shrieking of Sha'Varsk wouldn't stop and the crashes it caused as it collided into many objects in its efforts to put out the flames only increased as well.

"Should I check on it?" asked Edgar.

"Yea sure, take a look if you wanna," Eidiri replied nonchalantly, "The fire should be able to kill it, and even if Sha'Varsk or whatever survives, it should be heavily injured, we can just swoop in at that point."

"You right, you right," Edgar said before peeking his head. As he ducked his head back in he said, "Its still scrambling out there, its trying to put out the fires, rolling around and stomping them out."

"Is the fire still burning strong?" asked Eidiri.

"Yep, it looks pretty decent," Edgar replied.

"Okay, how 'bout this. We'll just take shifts in peeking out of here, report of the condition of the fire, if it starts to die down then we go in and finish it off," Eidiri said.

To this Ken tossed in his own input, "But Eidiri, you know how we have to harvest the loot of the corpses? What if the fire harms the potential treasures we can earn? If we go in now we should still be able to obtain some good stuff."

"He does have a point Eidiri," said Edgar, vocalizing his support for Ken.

Eidiri's lips twitched, forming a smile as they curved upwards, "Why do you guys have to make it sound like I'm arguing against you guys? I'm totally down for more loot. Ay let's go already!"

The 3 of them burst out of the tunnel, swiftly running towards the flailing body of the matriarch.

"You fiends! You cowardish, underhanded peons!" Sha'Varsk yelled.

"You're here! I can feel it! While the fire numbs my nerves, I see you! I see all of you! Prepare to face the wrath of Sha'Varsk! Matriarch of the Spiderlings!"

Sha'Varsk's head turned towards them, swinging directly in the direction of the 3 of them, then, as she started to scurry towards them, passing through the flame without another glance.

The flames licked and scorched at Sha'Varsk's body, but the flames of vengeance burned brighter, compelling Sha'Varsk to kill these connivelling usurpers and obtain revenge for her slain children.

Wildly Sha'Varsk burst through the flames, grabbing Edgar with 1 of her legs before flinging him against the wall where he crumpled into a heap.

He clearly wasn't dead though, perhaps inflicted with several dozen debuffs, among those being dazed, concussed, stunned, bleeding, cripple, defense reduction, etc.

With Edgar taken out of the fight so quickly, they were placed at such an immediate, huge disadvantage.

Sha'Varsk then turned towards to Ken, preparing to lower her jaws to brutally devour him, but luckily enough Ken managed to dive out of the way in time.

While Sha'Varsk was preoccupied with trying to consume Ken, Eidiri sprinted for its legs, drawing his dagger as he reached them before winding up and taking a powerful swing.

With a reverberating crack, the leg snapped in 2, giving out and breaking under the power behind that strike.

As the leg snapped, Sha'Varsk's balance was disrupted and sharp lances of pain stabbed into its nerves.

This brief moment of interruption allowed for Ken to clamber away from the rock that he had just been pinned to, Eidiri inadvertently saving his life.

The matriarch now whirled on its now 7 legs to face Eidiri, the flames rolling on its body giving it a slightly demonic appearance.

Without any words, Sha'Varsk hurled itself at Eidiri in anger, wanting to immediately snuff out Eidiri.

As Sha'Varsk jumped at him, Eidiri calmly rolled beneath Sha'Varsk, completely avoiding the attack.

Sweat was dripping in beads and the back of Eidiri's shirt was all sticky, the flames possessing an adverse effect on the 3 of them as well.

While Eidiri was busy with Shar'Varsk, Ken dragged Edgar's unconscious body back into the tunnel, making sure he was safe from the wrath of Sha'Varsk for now.

When Ken returned, Eidiri had just dodged the ferocious jaws yet again, stumbling backwards and losing his balance.

Seeing this opportunity, Sha'Varsk quickly pounced downwards, intending to finish Eidiri before he could get a chance to recover.

But luckily enough, Ken had returned and was winding up another swing on Sha'Varsk's leg, upon it impact, the leg snapped, the bone shattering completely.

Sha'Varsk was now completely thrown off balance, there of course being 4 legs on one of its sides while there were now only 2 on the other.

Green viscous blood oozed out the the stumps where the legs used to be, pouring in the wreckage of the battle, pouring onto the gritty dirt.

Ken nodded towards Eidiri, "Paid you back for that solid you did for me."

"Let's just get this bastard already," Eidiri replied. "The plan is we just gotta go for the legs, go for the one's of the left first, try to completely cripple it. We only got 2 more legs to go, if we take out those it's almost entirely immobile."

"Taking it from there should be relatively easy picking," Eidiri said.

Then with the flames burning brightly around them, the 2 of them charged towards Sha'Varsk, there was no option to turn back, they had long set out of this road, and now.

They were finishing the job.
