It was tough and hard to leave behind the friends I had made in Callington. I visited them all in their homes, one after the other.
"We'll miss you so much Susan, we are very much happy for you".
My girls expressed their love for me in tears.
I said goodbye to all the workers at Frank's house.
"Thank you all for being my heroes and heroines", Once again we had a group hug.
My Father and his wife, gave us their blessings and accepted our marriage. The house and the car, were taken away from my father by the authorities, Mr Philip had nowhere to stay.
"Now, I forgive you Father, I hope you can manage, okay?". I truly forgave my Father but I wasn't going to make everything so easy for him, he had to feel the hurt as well.
The Thompsons too, blessed and accepted our marriage. Everything was perfect now. By the time we got to David's house in the city, Gabriel and Stella were there waiting for us.
"Oh my God, Stella!"
I was so excited to see Stella just as she was excited to see me. We hugged and expressed ourselves with loving words and laughter. I hugged Gabriel once again. I could notice that he was interested in David's sister.
"She's pretty right?", I whispered to Gabriel in secret,
"Yes she is!".
"I know you like Stella. She's done with school, she's 21, I think you should talk to her before someone else does. I'd really like you as a Brother-in-law". I winked at him, and he understood the gist.
"Ok Susan, I'll do that right away, I hope she feels the same". He shyly replied.
I laughed, "Well, you'll never know unless you try". I ended.
"You're right!", He chuckled.
David's house was beautiful, neat, and simple, just how I like it. There were amazing places in Sydney just as I imagined, I had seen a lot of nice places in Sydney with my new family. I stayed at Stella's place for a while, just until the wedding. In a few weeks, David and I, would be married. Splendid!
My fiancé, thought it nice to take me out to dinner one evening, we ate at Mecca Bah Sydney on King street Wharf. We had our fill of delicious special meals and discussed happily at the table, the evening grew darker, so we decided to leave.
I wore a white free mini gown, just a bit fled at the bottom. I let my hair down in tiny curls, I walked in a black pair of heeled shoes. Likewise, David dressed nicely in a black pair of jeans, along with a long-sleeved green shirt and white shoes. We looked good!
Hand-in-hand, we walked out the restaurant, then we heard a voice in the dark, "Susan! Stop right there!" His harsh voice frightened me, I'd recognize that wild voice anywhere. I knew it was Frank, he hadn't let me go!
"How- how are you out of prison?"
I stammered in fear, he came all the way here to torture me as usual. I knew by now the news of his prison break would have awoken the city.
David stood in front of me and held me close.
"Frank please, leave us alone!", I pleaded.
"So you think you could break loose from me, huh? You humiliated me in front of the whole world, left me with nothing. My money, my business, my house! All gone! And it's all because of you!".
His words felt like burning fire on my skin, I was really scared, for he was pointing a gun at us!
"Please Frank don't do this", David put in. We just couldn't move.
"Shut the hell up! You! David! Everything was fine until you came and took it all away from me, I'll never forgive any of you!". He laughed wickedly and mockingly. "You can't run away now!". The old man threatened.
He moved fast towards us with the gun and pulled me away fiercely from David's grip, then slowly, he walked backwards with me.
"Don't come any closer David, or I'll shoot this ungrateful brat!". He warned.
This time, I was close to the glass door of that restaurant. Frank shot a bullet up in air to warn David not to come any closer. The loud sound of the gun sent a shivering cold through my body like electricity.
