Chapter 8: Her Scar

"Photocopy this." Sir Kevin said and handed me a bunch of papers.

"How many copies, Sir?"

"A hundred," my mouth widened as I heard it. That's a lot.

"What are you standing there? Get out," he said coldly and I left the office. I was photocopying the documents when I heard someone was gossiping about Sir Kevin.

"I heard they broke up because of his weird illness," I was listening while photocopying the papers.

"Yeah, I also heard an article that his girlfriend is pregnant, but they aborted the child," I was shocked to hear that.

"Really?"

"How irresponsible,"

I stood properly and think about him. All his employees talk bad behind his back. I feel sorry for him, but why is he so cold towards us? "Maybe because of his family," I said inside my mind and nodded.

After an hour, I went back to his office while carrying a hundred copies of the papers he gives to me. I knocked.

"Sir, I finished it," I said as I was panting while carrying the papers. He looked at me.

"Leave it there. Buy me lunch," he said and I nodded. I went out of the office. I was looking for a restaurant near the office and all I can see is a coffee shop. I walked to find some resto nearby.

"What's your order, Mam?" a very familiar voice I heard from the cashier. I looked at her and it was Alice.

"Alice ?! "I was shocked to see her. She reacted the same way while looking at me.

"Maam, Gaia?" she burst into tears when she saw me.

We went and sat in the corner to talk.

"How are you, Alice? Why are you working here? Shouldn't you be studying now?" I said to her and she was immediately saddened by what I said.

"I dropped out of school," she said softly and I immediately looked at her. She's one of the best students for me. Alice is smart and a hard-working student.

"Why? Did something happen?" I asked her but she just smiled.

"Nothing happened Mam. I just wanted to stop. I can't afford to pay my tuition anymore. I worked here to pay for my fees," she said. I was looking at her and I was about to talk when Sir Kevin was calling me.

"One sec," I said as I stood when I pick up the call.

"Where the hell are you?" he asked me angrily over the phone. I gasped. I forgot his lunch. I looked at Alice.

"I'm on my way now," I ended the call and went back to her.

"I have to go now, Alice. Here's my number. Call me if you need anything. I will help you. If you want, I will pay for your tuition fees," I said but she declined my offer.

"I don't want to add the burden your feeling, Maam. I will fight this on my own. I had to experience this for me to grow and become stronger," she said and I nodded.

"I'm sorry about that incident. I didn't even help you back there. I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise, Maam," she added as she began to tear up. I went towards her, smiling.

"That's okay. I'm fine now, don't forget to call me. Okay?" she nodded and I went out.

I went back to the office, but I was still thinking about Alice. I couldn't accept the fact that she dropped out. She had a bright future ahead of her. I knock at the door and went inside. I saw Sir Kevin looks at me.

"I'm sorry I took too long, Sir. Enjoy your lunch," I uttered and I went back to my desk. I was sighing as I was thinking about Alice. I was thinking about her as I forgot to take my lunch. My stomach noises and I saw Sir Kevin was looking at me. I smiled at him, but he walked towards me.

"Sir, do you need anything else?" I asked him, but he just gives me empty emotions.

"I don't like this food, you can have this," he said and I looked at him while pouting my lips.

"Really? I thought you like this kind of food?" I asked him again.

"I don't like it anymore," he said and put the food on my desk.

"Alright. I'll just have this one," I said and started to eat his food.

Kevin's POV

I looked at her and saw that she was holding at her stomach. "Did she forget to take her lunch?" I asked inside my mind while looking at her. I walked towards her and put the food on her desk.

She looked at me and frowned. "Didn't you like this food?" she asked me. I looked at her coldly.

"I don't like it anymore," I then went back to my desk and saw her eating the food. I was smiling, but when I realized I was smiling I went back to my old self. She looks at me and smiles.

"Thank you for the food, Sir Kevin. It was so delicious," she said to me with a smile. "What is she doing to me? Why would I feel like smiling when she's around me?

It's 6 pm already. I stood up and I was about to look at her, but I see her sleeping. I walked closer to her. "She's beautiful even sleeping," I said inside my head.

She moved and I immediately looked away from her. I knocked on her desk and she immediately woke up and immediately stood up when she saw me.

"Sir, what is it?" she immediately opens her eyes as she looks around.

"It's time to go home,"

"Ah, yes." I immediately walked and she followed me. I had already entered the elevator but she did not follow. She was just outside and looking at me.

"What are you doing?" I asked her and she looks so confused.

"Ah, I'll just wait for the next elevator, Sir. You can go first," she utters.

"Come in,"

"Huh? What did you say, Sir?"

"I said come in," she nodded and went inside.

We went outside the office together. "Sir, are you going home?" my driver asked me. I nodded and I was about to went inside when someone calls me.

"Hey! Kev!" I looked around and I saw Venus. She's drunk. She was walking towards me while she was walking in a zigzag. She was in front of me.

"Why did you leave me, Kev? I want you back," she said and hugged me. She was crying as I told my driver to pull her off.

"Hey, let me go," she shouts as my driver was holding her. I look at her coldly.

"You should go home, Venus," I uttered and she started to teared up. I saw Gaia was looking at her. I signal her to come near me.

She raises her brows while looking at me. I pointed her and signal her to come here. She then nodded and went closer to me.

"What is it, Si-" I cover her mouth as she was about to call me 'Sir' when Venus is around. She looks at me and frowned.

"Just play along with me," I whispered at her.

Venus raises her head and saw Gaia. "She's the one you choose over me? Why?! She looks so ordinary!" she shouts and I was about to laugh while looking at Gaia's reaction. She was pissed off.

"Hey, who are you? Why did Kevin choose you over me?" she asked Gaia. Gaia smirked at her. "Kev, do you really love her as you love me before?" she asked me and it hits me so hard. I do love her before, but when I found out about her affair, I broke up with her.

"Mister, please drive her home," I said to my driver and he nodded. I help him to put Venus inside the car.

I heard Gaia sigh. I looked at her as she was looking at the sky.

"Hey," she then looked at me.

"Yes, Sir?" she answered directly. We met each other's eyes, but she averted her gaze from me.

"I'll be going to Boracay tomorrow, please prepare my stuff, and please do carry all your stuff too," I said. She just nodded and looked away.

"There's no taxi at the moment, Sir," she said.

"Then, what should we do then? Find a solution immediately," I shouted at her.

"Y-yes, Sir,"

"What about we just go ride a bus? We can get a cheaper bill in that case," she added.

I looked at her and frowned. I crossed my arms in front of my chest. "Do I look like I can't afford a taxi?" I asked her sarcastically.

"As I said earlier, Sir, there's no taxi at the moment. So If you want to stay here you can, but I'm taking the bus," she said and started to walked.

I released a deep breath and followed her. We were walking towards the bus stop. I'm behind her. I was looking at her as she tied her hair and I saw the scar on her hands.

"What was that?"
