Meet the Monkeys

It was a sunny Saturday and the weather is perfectly fine. But for me who's dealing with my  pre-mature best friends, it feels like hell. Especially, that they just casually crashed into my place as if they are always welcome and can feel at home anytime.

"You're stupid bro. You abandon your knight and it's a stupid act! That was supposedly your last resort", Carlo exclaimed to Seven after the latter lost to Keren in a chess game.

"What a reckless move. Obviously you're not thinking, are you?". Carlo continues as he scratches the back of his head, totally pissed and devastated.

Keren couldn't help but laugh at Carlo who reacted so much. It was as if he had lost the game, himself.

I just watched my friends silently, straining myself to be patient. I didn't say anything since I hadn't even watched their game. I am only sitting comfortably on our long, white couch in the living room while three of my friends were on the floor with two of them, Carlo and Seven are still on dispute maybe 5 meters away from me. Obviously, because I prefer to distance myself from these idiots who just invaded my territory.

"Shut up! You're not good either.", Seven hissed, obviously disgusted as well. "You're fucking annoying!"

"Yeah? It's maybe because what you did earlier is really stupid, definitely stupid..."

"What now if I lose, eh? It's not you, it's me! So stop complaining! Tsk! "...

"Gosh. Whatever.", Carlo said while munching the junk food he forcefully got from me. Obviously, that's supposed to be mine, but he snatched it away from me without even asking if I will going to lend him some. He maybe afraid he won't get some from me knowing I never share foods with anyone.

"IF YOU GUYS DON'T SHUT UP, THEN GET OUT!!!", I exclaimed which immediately made the two of them stop. However, a moment later Keren speaks.

"Nice! We're now at peace.", he's laughing. Apparently, annoying the two.

"Tss. I'm not afraid though", Seven suddenly said confidently, which literally made me raised my eyebrows and cross my arms across my chest.

'What the heck!'

"This is not his house. Not even owning a single penny.", It's Carlo this time.

I was taken aback by what he had said. A moment of silence before Keren's laughter covered the whole room. He's enjoying a lot. I knew it.

"And you're not my friends!", I replied after I fully recovered. I do not retreat easily. Never ever in my vocabulary.

"Savage! Hahaha!", Keren stated once again.

The two just wince and chose to keep quiet afterwards, staring intently to both Keren and I. I couldn't help but smirk in victory. I'm not named Aiden for no reason, you fools.

The house would have been quiet without these people. I don't know why they tend to come here often even though they knew there's nothing seems interesting here.

Well, today is another boring Saturday for me. I was left alone at home again with my mom at school and my dad overseas.

"Yow bro, What's up?", It was Keren who greeted the newly-arrived Hunter. He immediately caught our attention. Right after that, Keren went back to moving the scattered chess pieces back to the chess board, not minding Hunter anymore.

But what is even more surprising is that, Carlo and Seven left him alone only to clean up their mess and instead of helping, they went to the refrigerator and started digging in some available foods. Like seriously, I shook my head in disbelief. I can't believe I have friends who looks like who haven't eaten for years.

And to be honest, I'm really impressed with what these two can do. When it really comes to foods, Carlo and Seven can easily get along. Not to mention earlier that I almost had a hard time weaning them apart.

"As usual. That business thingy is obviously tiring.", Hunter replied.

"Woah, as if the meeting is the reason, eh? If we all knew, it was the food that keeps you coming with your dad. Am I right?", Keren asks with a smile on his face.

"Nah. Don't mention it", he replied, followed by a laugh.

"Look at that handsome face, bro.

Looks like you're preparing for something. "Carlo inserted which made Hunter smiles proudly.

"Thanks". he answered as he walked in and sit with me. He's wearing a black suit paired with black pants and black shoes that looks surprisingly nice, a perfect suit intended for important meetings. From the looks of it, that's surely a Brioni.

"Anyway, how many of us are invited to your funeral?", Carlo asked while chewing, the sarcasm was obvious. In an instant, the smile on Hunter's face immediately disappeared and was replaced by a frown.

The four of us laughed in unison. And we even burst out laughing when Hunter raised his middle finger to all of us.Pathetic Hunter.

Perks of being late. You can get all the attention you want but to Hunter's case, it's very usual. Since he is the only son of a business man, we always found it natural - him going with his dad in every business meeting whether in or out the Philippines. A typical life for children born on silver spoon and in business industry. Therefore, it is possible that he cannot be with us sometimes. Hunter is a busy man and we are not and I found it something that requires enough understanding.

"Yeah right. You really look like a corpse.", Seven teased.

"Wow. Seriously, old man? That's a good intro. Nice try." Hunter laughed at his own joke. His voice just oozed sarcasm.

I heaved a sigh. I can no longer count how many times I scratched my head and slapped my forehead. Just by listening to their nonsense conversation, it brings me headache and I can tell you I'm almost done with these four animals.

I stand up quietly and pick my car key on top of the refrigerator. Once getting a hold of it, I immediately made my way out. I can even barely feel their stares as I head myself directly to the garage. I chose not to mind them. But of course, monkeys are monkeys. They don't even know how to shut up for a seconds.

"Bro, where are you going?", Seven suddenly asked.

"Leaving my house?" I answered, sounds like a question. "I feel sympathy for my mom's grocery which supposedly good for a month, but I guess a week won't suffice. So, would you mind if you explain to my mom? That would be of great help, right? And also I want to enjoy the art of peace away from you monkeys. Sounds interesting, isn't it?" I sarcastically explained.

Keren just shrugged. He's now standing, holding the chess board on his right hand. Not even trying to utter a word.

"I'll pay a month of grocery then." Hunter suggested.

"And I can call tita right away.", Seven volunteered.

"Me to explain. Sounds good, right?", Carlo said.

I once again, couldn't help but shook my head in disbelief. This is totally a misunderstanding. For Pete's sake I don't need their money for a month of groceries because I have my own. I don't need them to call my mom because I can do it when she's home. And most of all, I don't need their explanation because mom knows well and she knows a lot about these monkeys. So it's a hell'a waste of time. What I exactly want is a peace of mind and they're not of help at the moment. They're too loud and disturbing. And nobody can have a piece of mind when they're around the corner.

I turned my back from them once again and continue walking until I reached my car. I decided to open the gate first for my easy access because I know no one will do it for me before returning back to my car, but to my dismay, I forgot to lock it. Now, here they are, comfortably sitting at the backseat and the shotgun seat, Keren at the shotgun seat while the three left with no choice at the backseat. Specifically, Seven on the left side, Carlo in between and Hunter on the other side.

I slowly approached them, holding my patience as I witness how they show me their fully-stretched lips, in full smiles.

"Strictly no animals inside. Now get out!", I said, full of authority.

"Ouch!!! No animals please. Seven get out!", Carlo ordered while pushing Seven out of the car. For no reason, I was able to massage my temple out of so much frustration. Who wouldn't? Especially, when they got the courage to laugh afterwards while myself is in rage. They got the nerves of steel.

"We're going with you. I'll pay the gas.", Hunter said.

"I don't want your money. All I want is all of you, getting out of my sight!"

"Oh bro! Come on."

"You have your car, Gonzales. Why don't you used it?", I was referring to Hunter.

"Relax. The more, the merrier, right guys?", he said as he was asking for approval from his fellow monkeys.

"Right bro. Don't be a kill joy", Carlo retorted.

"Kill joy, my ass." And just like that, they burst out laughing again.

Therefore, I left with no choice but to drag Seven out of my car before dragging the other out. But to my surprise, Hunter drag him in which later Carlo also help. I tried it again but to no avail. Two is still stronger than one.

"O-ouch! Shit! K-keren help!, it was Seven asking for help from Keren who only did nothing but laugh at him.

'Nice. As if he's going to help you where in fact, he seems to be enjoying a lot.'

Since, dragging him won't change anything so, I let him go. The moment I let go of his hand, that is when he hit Carlo on his head. And that was pretty hard since it hits Hunter on the other side as well. I almost couldn't hold my laugh seeing them struggling from pain when I realized I'm in anger. Man, too good to be true but it's so hilarious.

"Ah!", Carlo groaned.

"Shit. It hurts! What a pain in my ass, Carlo. You've got a one of a hell'a hard skull", Hunter said as he was holding the part that was in pain.

"Seriously? You fool! You should've dodged immediately?"

"Woah! If only I knew it, idiot! Tsk!", Carlo hissed.

'Here we go again. Lord, help me with these monkeys. What should I do?'

I shook myself out of my thoughts and sighed, followed by another sigh until I couldn't count it anymore. Watching as how my friends fight over such thing might be a reason of my early death. Instead of adding up the heat, what I did is only keeping my mouth shut. There's nothing to argue with because the conversation was already done a long time ago.

I tried to compose myself, close my eyes, leave them behind and finally proceed to the driver's seat. Obviously, I'm pissed but since monkeys are known for no empathy, I'll try to understand though it's pretty hard.

Almost about a minute when I totally gather myself. That's when I started the engine and left the house sadly, with these four monkeys surrounding me. I can already feel how my boring Saturday started to turn into a hell'a one.
