The Accident

It's almost a while now when we left the house and yet I'm still driving to the nearest mall to buy some school materials needed for this coming Monday, which is also my first day of school year as a senior high school student. Luckily, no one is disturbing my driving yet. Not until Carlo asks me a question.

"Where are we going, bro?"

"It's for me to know and for you to find out", I replied. Obviously, the sarcasm is evident.

Looking at my side mirror, everyone is in awe totally not seeing it coming.

"I'm dead serious", he exclaimed.

"And I'm not expecting it coming from you either?", I said. "But since your eagerness to know is bothering me a lot, I'll let it slide for once."

I pause for a moment before I continue. "You're going home." There's a moment of silence. "I think its better for you to go home. Animals, no, monkeys like you should be at least better at the zoo, right? So yeah, I'm sending you home."

"What the hell!!!" Hunter cursed upon hearing what I said. Not able to accept the fact that they were called monkeys by the very handsome me.

"Who's the monkey?", Seven asks out of nowhere.

"Ah yeah. At last, I found the monkey. He's the monkey", Carlo said pointing at Seven.

It all started with Carlo's words, then followed by another until everyone is pointing at each other. See? They're now totally in chaos pointing one another just because everyone wants to prove who's the monkey. Except Keren who's laughing damn hard right now. Well, he's a silent type.

Of course, I ignored them again, what's the point of listening anyway? There's no good in every single words coming from their mouth. Instead of wasting my time on their nonsense act, I continue to focus myself on driving. Not after a minute when I found us stuck in a traffic. But five minutes later, nothing seems moving.

"What happened?". Finally, I guess Keren is not a robot.

"No idea.", I said.

There's a part of me wanting to know what is really happening. Instead of waiting for something that could feed up my curiosity, I get off my car and check it, myself. Good thing, there's a gray car heading towards me. Not long after it stops exactly in front of me.

"Excuse me. What happened?", I ask out of curiosity to a lady driver. She suddenly smiles seductively the moment she laid her eyes on me, almost made me puke. I almost blame myself for asking right away and even plan to turn around.

"There was an accident ahead, young man. And I think it will cause a serious traffic." I did nothing, but nod. Feeling hesitant to utter a single word.

"You go straight?", she asks referring to their opposite direction exactly where we heading to.

"Yeah."

"Alright. If I were you, I should have look for another route. I think this will last long before the police could settle down everything.", she suggests.

"Well, that's something I could consider. Thanks.", I said with finality and before she could even bids her goodbye, I turned around right away leaving her dumfounded.

I check my wristwatch. It made me raised my eyebrows upon checking the time. Exactly 12:05 in the afternoon, no wonder why I can already feel the growling sound of my stomach. I go back straight to my car, only to find out their tantrums.

"What take it so long? I'm already hungry." Carlo said followed by his stomach's growling sound, which obviously three times louder than mine. I wonder what creatures do they have inside.

"I want Hawaiian Pizza, large.", Hunter mumbled but I can still able to hear it loud and clear.

'Got no courage, eh?'

"I'm fine with an 'Eat All You Can'.", Seven happily exclaimed.

"What now?". For once, at least he's becoming a human. I've waited him for a while to speak again. I thought he's going to add something like what food he wants. But I guess, he's different from these glutinous people ever since.

"We'll find an alternative route for now."

This made him creased his forehead. I can now feel the three of them listening to us intently. Obvious as to how they instantly stop what they are doing and although they are not looking at us directly but I'm a hundred percent sure they're waiting for my reply.

"Why?"

"Car accident." I replied as I look at him in the eye.

"Wait, it's now moving." Hunter caught my attention. This is when I witness how each vehicle move forward right in front of my eyes.

I started the engine again and stepped on the gas pedal making sure we were moving slowly but carefully. When we reached the intersection of Alabang-Zapote Rd and CAA Rd, that is when we are able to witness how serious the incident is.  I immediately lowered the car window and watched the cause of this commotion. I can clearly see the evidence of the accident and almost feel sick seeing fresh blood scattered everywhere. With the amount of blood strewn on the street, I just don't know if the owner could still survive however, doctors are already doing their job, trying their best to save their patients. Besides, three ambulance can be seen within the perimeter and any minute they can send them off to the hospital for proper treatment. Policemen, as we all know are also in the scene obviously investigating the crime scene.

"From what I see, I think that red vehicle wanted to overtake the blue one." I heard from Hunter, wanting to prove something.

As I took a closer look at the crime scene, I realized Hunter was right. Three vehicles were involved in the incident. Based on the direction we are in now, we are obviously going in only same direction. But I disagree about overtaking being the reason behind all of this because I can see that both vehicles- the blue and the red one had inflicted severe damage. The rear portion of the blue vehicle was ruined whereas the front part of the red car was totally destroyed after it ran into a 6-wheeler truck. And it never crossed my mind that both the driver or the passengers (if there's any), could survive after being trapped by two vehicles. Yet, it is still quite surprising knowing that they are somehow alive, although in a critical condition.

Honestly, this is not my first time to witness an accident but this time, I found it hard for me to take my own eyes off the victims who are now currently being admitted to the ambulance. Blood stains from the accident were still evident and I don't have any idea what things do the doctors put in them but I'm sure it is for their own good. And apart from it, what really caught my attention more is the lady wearing a mask and eyeglasses. I can't determine how old she is. Even though her white shirt was stained with blood, her situation was obviously fine. Everyone seems to be in a hurry, except her and I doubt if she's one of those people.

As a matter of fact, a doctor even shook hands with her, trying to congratulate her for something I do not even know. Then same lady who suddenly signaled to a man in black not far from him who immediately nodded back before she finally get into the ambulance and drive away. I frowned. Who is she?

"How can you say so?", Carlo asks, somehow not convinced by Hunter's deduction.

"Well that is only based on what I see. I hope my hunch is right." He proudly said as he was busy rubbing his hands, still eyeing the incident.

"Wow! You're really a genius.", Seven exclaimed, not able to hold his admiration.

I fake a cough, saying I disagree. But I only received a death glare from Hunter making me laugh even more.

Not a moment later when we peacefully arrived at the nearest mall, safe and sound. After parking the car properly, I really wish I could disappear right away. These four monkeys look like ignorant creatures who seem to have just come out of the forest after getting out of the car, looking everywhere to the point that they almost stumble or fall. No matter if anyone sees their embarrassing demeanor or not, they don't care. The nerves of these idiots. They even left me alone, or so I thought.

As we decided to enter the mall, I thought my soul could rest from this shits. But as I witnessed how they walk like children so ignorant, jumping like rabbits that I can't even name for a lifetime, I couldn't help but smile awkwardly at the guards who's inspecting us. It's as if I had patients from mental institute with me. Going inside the mall with them is literally a bad idea. It may even sound better roaming around with my dog rather than roaming around with four monkeys. I could even imagine myself in a movie called Planet of The Apes. My goodness!

Sadly, it didn't all end here because the moment we arrived exactly at the food court, they even started to argue over a simple place to eat with. These crazy people really missed nothing, even the smallest things in this world.

Well, I guess everything has its own ending since after a few minutes of argument at last, they finally decided where we could eat.

'McDo really?'

They have been thinking about that for a while now. I'm impressed. I wonder how long they've been thinking about it. Other people are alreasy looking at us because honestly, they are too loud. How much shame will I be able to experience with them? Lord help me!

After we were able to pay the bill, I headed myself out for a walk. I make sure they are not following me anymore because I can no longer stand for another embarrassment that will surely hunt me in my entire life.
