Chapter 6: The vets?!

The whole place was screaming with tension and fear. It made me feel awkward and unwelcome. It didn't help that the people who were leaving, either ran out or moved closer to walls, keeping a VERY safe distance from me. A lady even went as far as grabbing her umbrella and sticking it out, poking me away, as I walked past.

"Is that really necessary?" I said but to human ears, it would have sounded like a growl.

Neo must have heard me because he nudged my side with his knee. I just huffed as we continued to walk to the reception. However, the ladies at the office hadn't taken their eyes off the screen yet.

"Hello, did you make an appointment?" One of the ladies asked in a bored tone.

"No." Neo said, leaning on the desk that separated us from them.  I moved back and sat down, glancing back at the tamer animals and people. I watched them while still listening to what Neo was saying.

"...well umm what's your name?" She asked but sounded embarrassed, did she finally look up from her computer?

"Xeno Claude." He answered, his tone was very dull but surprisingly it didn't stop the lady from starting up a conversation.

"Oh! You're from the Claude family?! I'm sorry I didn't recognize you, sir, I should have." She said the last part a bit flirty. I rolled my eyes, dropping my head slightly. I was praying that this would be over soon.

But she continued,

"I didn't know the Claude family had a pet. What is i-EEEKK!!" She said while at the same time getting up from her chair and looking over the desk, I stood up too. She must have been surprised since a seagull noise come from her mouth. I had never heard a human make such a high pitched noise before.

Deciding to play around, I stood on my back two legs and rested my two front ones on the desk. The desk was high but just right for me. When I'm stood up I'm roughly the same size as I am with my human form which is like maybe 5'6? Or something similar anyway.

"Is it safe?" The receptionist asked, I narrowed my eyes. It?

"Yeah, she won't attack, unless I tell her too." He said confidently. I glanced at him.

"Actually the only human I would attack is him." I said, sounding like a dog trying to talk in a foreign language. But Neo sighed at my difficult behaviour. But the other receptionist, next to the one I just scared, was now looking at me too.

"AWWWWW!!! SHE'S ADORABLE!!!!" She spoke excitedly. I just smiled and said,

"Thank you." I barked, wagging my tail. At least not everyone hates wolves. Removing myself from the desk before she could pat me, I was back to all fours. Thankfully, the receptionist who wasn't scared of me booked us in and told us to take a seat.

We didn't have to wait long and although the vet was also shocked to see a wolf, he took the lead off Neo and took me to his room. Of course, that jerk didn't come in with me because I told him not to. But I had to "behave", and Neo had to wait outside the door in case anything "happened".

When my check-up ended the vet had wrapped a strong bandage around my wrist. It was as thick and tight so that my wrist was more supported, I was also given painkiller but I didn't see what form it was in. The vet had shown Neo how to wrap the bandage properly but it didn't look like he was paying attention, so I watched myself.

As soon as we got out I wasn't limping as much which I was thankful for. Forgetting I was attached to a lead, I started jogging to see what it was like with a wrapped up paw. But as soon as I felt a firm halt on the lead and I ended up choking from the collar. I looked at Neo who was wearing a smirk. Getting my breath back I sat down and tried scratching the collar off, then I hooked my foot under it to move it off my head.

When I found out that it was a waste of energy, I then started to chew on the lead.

"Stop messing around wolf." Neo said as he walked past me and to his car. I continued to chew the lead and pull at it so that he would get the point.

"I'm not going to take it off, you belong to me now. Remember our deal?" He said, I stopped my actions. Is he serious?!

"No! I'm not becoming some pet. I'm also human, or did you forget?" I snarled at him but I didn't see any fear in his eyes, he stared back at me with a cold look. I don't like this guy he gives off a scary vibe.

"What makes you think I care about that? One thing you did get right, is that I can get away with anything. My family own most of this land through the generations of our family." Stepping forward he got close up in my face.

"And right now you are on my land, so you're mine." He spoke with venom in his voice.

Having no comeback I stayed quiet. Neo backed away and walked to his car again and when I felt a tug I followed. He will regret having me as a pet, I'll make sure of that. If he thinks he can tame me he can think again.

Neo opened the door to the back seats,

"Don't change into a human. Stay like that and don't go in the boot, you're heavy." He quickly said and shut the door behind me. He then opened his door and sat in the driver's seat.

"Are you saying I'm overweight?! It was your fault anyway, I never asked you to pick me up." I fought back but he just huffed and drove off. We didn't speak from then, but after 10 minutes of him driving and I was feeling restless. I needed fresh air. Standing upon the seats I went over to the window.

I tried scratching at the window, how do these work?

"Don't do that, you'll mark it." Neo said coldly, since I was technically behind him I moved my head between the seats and got close to the side of his face,

"Put the window down." I said breathing heavily. Maybe it was because I needed to run and use some of my energy that I started to feel agitated. Or maybe it's because I'm not used to small places? But I wasn't in the car for that long in my wolf form before, it felt different.

But even though I made it clear, Neo didn't do anything and just concentrated on his driving. It was driving me mad because the wolf side of me felt I was in danger. Knowing he wouldn't put the window down I had no choice but to...

SMASH!!

Break it. Quickly sticking my head out the window I felt 100 times better. Maybe now he would listen to me. Slamming on the breaks he stopped suddenly. When some of the sharp pieces of glass, that were still in the window, stabbed me I snarled in pain. Pulling my head back in the car I shouted,

"THAT HURT!!!"

He turned to face me, looking p*ssed off. He sighed in frustration,

"You'll pay for that." That was all he said as he continued to drive. Not bothered by his threat, I rolled up on the opposite side where there wasn't as much glass on the seat. At least now that I had fresh air, I could finally relax.
