Chapter 9: A fight

Lar's POV:

I had been watching for a few minutes now and my hunch was right, it was that fool. But what stunned me the most was the dead men on the floor, that had seemed to have been killed by the adolescent pups. When I looked back over to Neo, he stabbed one of the Werewolves that was in its human form. Never had I seen a sight so disturbing.

Knowing that no of them knew I was here because of the blinding smell of all the blood, alcohol and drugs. I contemplated on whether I should help Neo or not. I noticed that the other Werewolf currently fighting Neo wasn't messing around. Looking back over at them, I saw Neo move away, to create a wide distance.  I sighed. Walking out from the shadows I growled. Though, the echo of my growl made it sound louder and deeper. I at least got their attention.

I started to run, my wolf had fully taken over at this point, from all the overwhelming smells. I felt like a passenger in my own body. I was in hunting mode right now, when I got close to the man my body had lowered allowing me to jump, knocking him down. But he quickly recovered as he had changed into his wolf form, nearly instantly. He was tough, I felt like he held the same title as my father: lead warrior. This was going to be interesting.

Because of his quick change in form, it means he must have transformed many times, or maybe he was tired from being in his human form. This act might just be his adrenaline. If that's the case it won't take long for him to get tired. Right now, me and this wolf were squaring off showing fangs and scrunching our noses. Waiting for each other to attack first.

I took the first move and aimed straight for his neck knocking him back again. I bit down hard until a loud enough cry got all their attention. Any more pressure and this wolf would be a dead one. The werewolf who had kept his human form even though Neo had stabbed him with a bottle, seemed stronger. He gave off a mixed atmosphere.

Analysing him I could tell he had been a Beta but the fact that this werewolf under me, addressed him as Alpha, made me wonder. Also, that wound would have made any werewolf change to their preferred form. Since he didn't change, it was clear he was more human. Which was confusing. Normally the more human Werewolves are seen as the weaker.

Right now he could kill me if this other male wolf meant nothing to him. But from my point of view, they seemed very close. I stayed gripped to the wolf under me, right now he was weak from blood loss. I looked over at the man as he took out the glass bottle from his stomach, flinching as he did so.

He looked up,

"Who... are you?" The Alpha asked, seeming to be very disturbed by my appearance.

".....a pet." I said sarcastically there was no way I'm being buddy, buddy with these werewolves and telling them where I'm actually from. When I looked back at the man he had stood up and had given some kind of signal to the pups. When I heard them get closer I growled louder tightening my grip, another cry escaped the wolf under me. He then told them to stop.

Oh, so he's testing me? Maybe I should have given a more serious answer.

"What do you want? The dead humans? We won't eat--" I cut him off and snarled,

"I DON'T WANT THEM!! I'm not like you monsters!!" I growled and scratched the body under me, just to see if he was still alive. And he was as I felt his body flinch.

"...fine! Just let him go and we'll leave..." The Alpha growled in panic, he was frustrated, no doubt about that. I did as I was told, gently unhooking my teeth. I backed off and as soon as I did, the pups helped him up. Picking up the plastic bag, I took it to Neo giving him an annoyed look.

"Hey! Red wolf is he your owner?" The Alpha asked just as I was about to walk away.

"Maybe!" I shouted back but all I got back was a psychotic laugh. Cringing at the sound, I continued to walk away. I sighed loudly. I had finally gotten full control over my body again, I never knew I had such a violent side to myself. But it was fun, this is the second time I've fought for what I thought was right.

In the pack, we decided as a collective and one thing I don't like is following the crowd. It's a bit ironic but that's why I caused so much trouble. If I wasn't causing trouble, I was either sleeping or eating. But I'm a strong believer in fate, if we are supposed to act a certain way or be at a particular place, then there is a reason. I have no intention of running away, I have a year of nothing to do, so I might as well get a kick out of it.

"What are you so happy about Wolf?" He said in a rude tone. I snapped out of thought and when I looked behind me, my tail was wagging. I immediately stopped it and I continued to walk in front of him, silent treatment. If he would have just stuck to a normal path I wouldn't be covered in blood. Turning the corner, I remembered which way his house was, but heard him call out again.

"You're not gonna run off? You do realise this is your chance to escape." I turned around at what he said.

"Well I could but what will I do? I can't go back to my pack or the old ladies house right now since I'm covered in blood. I might as well stay. Anyway, all the fun seems to follow you." I said making it sound like an obvious fact.

"Your gonna stay?!" He asked seeming surprised he walked over closer to me and I nodded.

"You don't treat me well but I don't mind, I can't say the same for the other people you are mean to though." I said. I saw a hint of guilt in his eyes but not much. I'm starting to question if this guy has any feelings at all.

"Why don't you care?" He asked starting to walk ahead. I followed his path and walked next to him.

"Umm... I used to cause trouble for my pack, depending on your age would determine the level of the punishments. But you wouldn't get these punishments if the trouble you caused wasn't worth it. Most wolves just get lectures and warning, but I kept on ignoring them." I stated it went quiet for a while as we continued walking.

"What did you do wrong?" He asked again, I narrowed my eyes at him for being nosey, but I decided to answer anyway.

"Well I have 3 older brothers, they are only older by a few minutes. But they all took after our mums' gentle nature. So they got picked on by the other young males a lot."

I took a breath and continued to explain,

"One day I saw one of my brothers being ganged up on. I nearly ended up killing one of them. But because I was so young they didn't know what to do with me. So, my father took me into the woods and left me. It was also pack moving day, where the whole pack moves to another territory. This is so that the part of the land we hunt on can have a rest, preventing animals from dying out and us from starving. I'd never been to that other territory so they knew my levels of surging were low." I finished explaining.

"Your father abandoned you then?" He looked at me with no emotion.

"Ugh... Kinda? He is the Lead Warrior in our pack, it's not like he had a choice unless he wanted to be killed for betrayal. I don't blame him for what he did and I never will. I remember I didn't call out for him either, once I realised I was alone. If I had shown I was upset, it would have made things worse. Instead, I just thought about how good a big meal will taste once I was back. It took days until they found me washed up on a river's edge, I was badly injured. Nothing you have done has been worse than that." I looked up at Neo as I couldn't hear his footsteps.

"....Sorry..and thanks for the help." He mumbled while putting his free hand behind his head either scratching or stretching, I wasn't sure. He had an awkward tone in his voice and it showed through in his actions.

"Sure." That was all I said as we continued the walk in silence. He's so strange, I don't get him at all.
