Air Temple Island(8)

"It doesn't make sense, why would we search for Korra?"

"It's part of the stuff I can't tell you, just believe me. Let's just say that if I wasn't there at the time we would have another conversation right now."

"Can you tell me a little about what's going on? It's not that I don't believe you but the more you talk the more confused I become."

"What I'm trying to tell you is that you would have found out sooner or later and that I'm sorry that it had to be this way."

"There is no need to apologies but I would still like an explanation."

"If I could I would give you one, but now it's not the time, maybe in the future."

We ended the conversation and I took Nya and her to see the suits I made for them. They loved them. It was a simplified version of mine since I didn't have time to make all of the modifications and neither the materials. They had improved strength and speed, two grapple hooks on each arm, talons on each arm, and of course electric gloves. It was a bare-bones version of my suit but it did its job. On the back of each suit, the characteristical archangel three pairs of red wings stoop proudly.

That evening we went and busted with the help of the police a hidden base of the Equalists in the city. The operation was a resounding success, we managed to capture all the equalist there, we even managed to capture some great angels, one of my best students was among them. His name was Doke and was of Fire Nation descent, this was seen from his eyes and his unyielding personality, he was a proud and determined person. But what made him one of my best students were his sense of justice and his talent for fighting.

"Tell me, Doke, do you still want to the what's right?"

"Traitor!"

"I take that as a yes."

I drip some chemicals on his metal bindings and set him free. He doesn't get up, he just seats there waiting for what I have to say.

"I want you to deliver a message to Master Wu. I want to see him in the place we've first met. Now go, quietly, I don't want the others to see you escaping, it could cause trouble for the both of us."

He hesitated, he was conflicted, I could clearly see that till I betray the Equalists he has seen me as a friend, a brother, a teacher, a minute ago his eyes were full of hate and confusion. Now there was a small light in his eyes, hope, for a second he fought I didn't betray them, that it was all a ploy but reality came crushing in making him get out of his fantasy.

"Why did you betray us, you were the best of us, you guided us, you made us, so why help the benders that oppressed us, why betray us?"

"Oh, dear Doke, did who did I betray? Amon? Most definitely. The ideal we swore to uphold? No. You see, I practically joined when I was eight, but it was officialized only a few years ago. I've been wanting to help the people of the city for the better part of my life, do you think I would just join the other side for no reason? No, of course not! Do you think I would fight so fearlessly if I didn't believe in what I am fighting for?"

"Brother Ethan please tell me, aren't we doing the same? We are fighting to make the benders pay for the way they treated us? Aren't we making the lives of people like you and me better?"

"Are you? Since Amon started to be more active tell me one good thing that happened to this city? What did he say? That those are growing pains and once it settles down all will be fine. When will it settle down? Now don't get me wrong, I hate most of the people that run this city as much as you do, I hate that if you aren't a bender they treat you as lesser, I want things to change, but following what a fraud says is not going to help. Do you think that hate will solve this? You sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. In the end, we are all people, there are good and bad people on both sides."

"What do you mean? How can Amon be a fraud? Explain yourself!"

"I I taught you chi blocking, didn't I? I made you learn where the major points were a person's meridians meet. We are not energy bender, we can't directly interfere with the energy of one's body, what we can do is one's own body against themself. By hitting specific pressure points we make not only the body unable to move but the energy as well. In that sense isn't it possible to stop a person's bending permanently if you manage to block a certain pressure point? Of course, it is, the only problem is that you need special abilities to do that.

The easiest way to take a person's bending away is to hit two pressure points, one is behind your neck and the other is on your forehead. The only problem with this is that both points impossible to hit from the outside, not a problem for a blood bender."

"You are lying, how can you say that he is blood bender!"

"Haaaa, you've always been stubborn, just go and tell Master Wu to meet me tonight, tell him to come alone because I will come alone as well."

I force him to get up and push him to one of the bikes. He starts to leave but turns back punching me in the face.

"So that it seems believable."

He jumps on the motorcycle and rides into the sunset.
