Chapter 6

"Why your parents didn't teach you to do as you are told I do not know?" Zack said. Mike had a small smile on his face and said, "they clearly trained her well."

Mia was watching her surrounding and noticed someone in the distance was using a gun and was about to fire the gun. She knew how to stop the gunshot, her father showed her how to do it but she has never tried to do it herself. She focused on combining the element of wind and water.

It didn't take long for the water to freeze and the bullet was stopped just before it entered the room. Everyone in the room stared at Mia in shock and Mia told her uncle Zack. "My dad always said that if you want to talk, do it without weapons. If you want to meet on friendly terms use the front door but the damaging of property is a recipe for disaster," Mia said.

"I will be back for you Mia and I will not stop until I have you," Zack said. Her uncle was long gone when Mia turned to look at her uncle Mike. "Your father trained you to stop bullets?" he asked.

"No he showed me, mom wouldn't let him train me. She won that fight," Mia said. "Your dad sounds like an assassin?" one of the men said. "No he is just one of the strongest elemental fighters if come to know," Mike said. "And we have his daughter with us?" one asked.

"Yes but even I don't know what he trained her to do. So lesson does not look for trouble and Mia that does not mean you get to do as you please. Why did you take so long on your job?" Mike asked.

"It would have been easy if only the old lady wanted was to water the garden but she wanted us to weed the garden and plant the flowers. The job said we wouldn't be paid until she is happy," Mia said.

"I should have warned you that lady is hard to please," Sam said. "Yes well it wasn't that hard to do," Mia said. "What do you mean it wasn't that hard. She couldn't stop asking for favours," Luna said.

"You should see my dad the day he thinks I have been too lazy. It didn't matter to him if it was raining or in the heat. If he said you will train then he meant you will train," Mia siad.

"What is your plan for tomorrow?" Mike asked. "Spending the money I earned today on some clothes that I need," Mia siad. "Yes, and I have trained so someone else will have to take Mia," Luna siad.

"That's okay I need something in town anyway so I will take her myself," Mike said. "Yes, and I will have to start training again at some point. You know as to not lose control," Mia siad. Mike looked at Mia and said, "right your father even though you why you need to keep training even if he is not there," Mike asked. "Yes well, training is important," Mia siad.

"Yes well so is having fun?" someone complained. "Fun can come after you did some work," Mike said. "Yes, boss," the man said. Mia was sitting at her desk drawing a picture of the old lady's garden. She stopped to looked at all the pictures that she has drawn since her parents disappeared. She missed them and all though her father was a difficult man to live with she did miss them. She missed just laying under the stars.

"Dad, mom are you even alive?" Mia wondered out loud. She drew a deep breath and kept drawing the garden. When she was finally finished it was almost midnight. She went to bed and so early the next morning she woke up with the alarm screaming in her ears. She felt the pain from the loud sound and so she opened the door only to have the alarm screaming even louder. She ran to a door and in her effort to try and get away form the alarm she broke the front door open. Outside in the rain she sat holding her ears.

Sam who was looking to see what the alarm was about noticed Mia's reaction and was at her side he realise what the problem was and took out a pair of earplugs and put it in Mia's ears. She looked at him and he mouthed. "Are you okay?" he asked. "What is with the alarm? My ears are hurting," Mia complained.

Sam took Mia back inside and found a few men looking worried at the door. He helped Mia to a table and Mike came storming in. "Who broke the front door?" he asked. Sam looked at him and said, "Mia's hearing is sensitive we will have to move her to a room that is more soundproof. The alarms hurt her and she tried to get away from it braking the front door open," Sam siad.

Mike looked at Mia and noticed she had earplugs in. "Will she be okay Sam?" he asked. "Yes but the front door isn't and she needs a room that is better soundproof. I have trained for years to handel that alarm but she, it seems she is still learning," Sam siad. "She didn't watch movie with us last night either," Luna said.

Mike looked at Mia and touched her shoulder. Mia looked up and took out the earplugs. "How's your hearing this morning?" he asked. "Why is the alarm so loud this morning it wasn't so loud last night?" Mia asked. "We have an emergancy to deal with, that's why there's an alarm," Mike siad.

"I'll get used to it, I've been training but Uncle Zack never had an alarm that sounded that hard and neither did mom and dad," Mia siad.

"My brother training you to handel the sound?" Mike asked. "A girl named Lilly did but she complained that i dont like tv, a computer, cellphone's or most electronic stuff. For one i am happy if i am abel to draw," Mia siad. "I can not imagine having to live without my cellphone," a girl siad.

"Not if you have my hearing," Mia siad.

"Okay that's enough everyone. Mia we will talk about this morning incident later but right now we have a job," Mike said.

"A girl went missing last night, search and rescue have been looking threw the night but they just asked for our assistance. Mia you will be working with Sam on this mission. I suspect your training wit your father will become useful on these missions," Mike siad.

Mia was still in her clothes from yesterday but her uncle Mike gave her a mission uniform. We can talk about the training later but for now find that girl," Mike ordered.

Mia climbed into the truck next to Mike and watched the trees as he drove threw the forest. They stopped on a cliff and Mia climbed out. She walked to the edge of the cliff and closed her eyes. She focused on her hearing. She could hear the distant cry for the girls name. She could hear people walking threw the forest and she could hear the river flowing down the mountain.

She was about to give up when she heard the distant sound of a wissle. She kept listening and realised the direction isn't where the people are looking. "Sam, i can hear a wissle but i can't tell were its coming from only that its not where the people is searching right now," Mia said.

Sam came to Mia's side and listned. It took him a while before he heard the sound of the wissle to. "Lets go and see if we can find the wissle," Sam said. The stoped at several locations before Mia could hear that the sound of the wissle was getting closer. Mia focused around her and spotted the girl. From there location she could hear the people calling for the girl. "I think she has supper hearing Sam. She hears them that's why she is blowing the wissle," Mia siad.

Sam stood next to her and Mia was trying to find a way down only to realise that there is now way to get to the girl savely. "I see her but she is in a dangerous spot, i dont see a save way to get her out," Mia siad. "Sam didn't see her at first but with a pair of binoculars he spotted her. You are right but your eyes are very good, i didn't see her at all." Sam siad as he picked up the radio.

"Control come in," he siad. The control room operator responded, "send." Sam answered on the radio, "we found the girl she is in the river and washed down stream. She defenatly has sensitive hearing. She can hear you call her but your not close to her at all and its to dangerous for us to go down there. We have no gear with us," Sam siad. "What is you location Sam?" came the voice.

Sam gave them his location and Mia kept her eye on the girl. A search and rescue vehicle stoped at there location and withing seconds they had a crew down in the river to get the girl out. Mia who was using her earplugs again noticed Sam was looking at her. "The sound is it getting to you again?" he asked. "Yes but its not so bad, i am trying to ignore the sound and the pain but its not easy," Mia said.

"You will get use to it eventually," Sam siad.
