Chapter 9

Mia was about to get a bottle of water when the man returned and arrested her. "You under arrest for lying to a superior officer," the man said. They dragged her away to their superiors.

They tied her to a chair and the man's captain started to interrogate her. "We know your lying to us, tell us where is your parents," the man siad. "I told you, they were going to meet someone but my mom didn't trust them so they told me to wait in the shelter," Mia siad. "You do know you should not be lying to me," the man siad. "I wasn't lying to you," Mia siad.

The men interrogated her for hours. They kept asking her all kinds of questions. That's until her uncle Mike came to bail her out. "I wasn't lying to you," Mia said to the man. "You're a liar, I can not believe your father would even raise a child like you," the man siad.

Mia tried to stay calm in the camp but she was like her father. If someone told him he was wrong he would go off to prove that it wasn't true. She knew the only way to prove to the man she wasn't lying about her parents was to go back and take a photo of her home. She felt that the team didn't trust her at all so when no one was looking she left her uncle a not saying that she was going to go and find her parents and bring back proof that she wasn't lying.

She wasn't worried about the fire or how she would get back home only that she needed to find evidence that she was telling the truth. She found herself hiking around the forest. She found her ability to fly was even more useful now. She managed to get to her home faster than it took her to get out. Mia was standing in front of the home she grew up in for several years.

She walked through the burned down building looking for any clues on where her parents might be but all she found was a picture of them that was partially burned. She looked through the shelters and in the areas where her father used to train her but as it became night she had taken many photo's but as she suspected her parents were nowhere to be seen and she could not find any information on where they might have been taken.

Mia heard a few vehicles approaching her home and decided to hid high up in a tree. There was a lot of flashlights going through the burned down-home. "She has to be here somewhere?" the man siad. A woman found her backpack and showed it to the man that was looking for her. "So she is here after all," the man siad.

Mia was trained by her father and so she was able to hide and watch them at a distance. The men were starting to give up one after the other when the sun came up and she heard a familiar truck. "That must be Sam? Mike said he couldn't leave but he suspected Mia's not going to go with just anyone," the woman siad.

Mia watched as Sam got out of the truck. She watched his expression change when he saw the home that was burned down. Sam picked up the phone and was talking to her uncle Mike. "She was telling the truth, I suspect John and your sister didn't go without a fight but it's a mystery as to why the forest didn't burn down," Sam siad. Mia claimed down the tree and walked over to Sam. He was shocked to see her and asked, "do you know how worried you have made Mike?" he asked.

"I don't like being locked up and balmed for lying," Mia said. "You're just like your father you know that?" Sam said. Mia was about to answer when she heard another vehicle approaching. She didn't have to say anything for she already knew who this vehicle belonged to. The man got out and said, "didn't your father teach you any manners?" the man said.

"That right there is our home that was burned down," Mia said. The man looked at the home and asked, "you're kidding me. The man said as he inspected the building. Your parents seemed to have put up a fight?" the man said. "My dad was not one that would go easy. If he didn't trust a man he wouldn't go," Mia said.

"Your father is a powerfull man?" the man siad. "You do not know the start of it but for the record there is no such thing as a weak person in my family," Mia said. "Yes only stupid once's like you," the man siad. Mia narrowed her eyes at the man. She knew what she did was stupid and reckless but she wasn't going to stand for a man that keeps telling anyone and everyone that she was a liar.

"Mia that's enough. Your uncle wants us back at the camp," Sam said. "Actually no she will be coming with us. We have unfinished business with her," the man siad. But Mia already saw threw the man and siad, "if my father fought back what makes you think I wouldn't fight as well," Mia said.

"You're not even that powerfull," the man siad. The men were closing in on Mia but she had already decided that she didn't trust the men. She used lightning on the ground and air around her. "If you want me to come with you, you will just have to make me," Mia said.

The man was standing at a distance but seeing lightning in her hand made the man change his decision. "Mia come on, we just want to know what happened to your parents and someone needs to protect you," the man siad. "I have my uncle Mate and Sam I dont need anyone else besides he would only be a fool if he thinks he can take all of us on at once," Mia siad.

"What do you mean?" the man said. A strong wind blew through the forest and rain started to fall. Soon the rain turned to ice and the wind turned into a snowstorm. Mia created a powerfull flame that melted all the snow and used water to created a flash flood. Sam stopped Mia when he realised the freak storm was her. "You need to stop doing that?" he siad. Mia looked at Sam and stopped using her powers. "As you can see her father trained her well," Sam said.

The man drove off and Mia has never seen the wheels of a truck spin so fast as the man tried to get away from her. "You know instead of proving him wrong. You could have put out the fire instead," Sam said. "Dad trained me but he said there is a risk when I use my powers to create a storm. It's easy to lose control," Mia siad.

"She is right Sam, it's too dangerous," the woman siad. "Thank you, Diana," Sam siad. Mia got into the truck when Sam asked her, "If there are a few things that you want we can take them," Sam said. Mia showed Sam were one of the shelters that held her family's belongings was.

Mike had given permission for Mia to get all of her family's belongings and so he sends a moving vehicle to the location. The move was taking forever when Mia discovered her mothers truck. "I can not believe she kept it all these years," Sam said when he saw it. "Do you think you can teach me to use it?" Mia asked.

Sam had to ask for another moving truck to load the vehicle and the rest of the gear Mia's mother used. He realised Mia's mum was still using her gear from time to time. "Did your mother still work?" he asked. "Yes as far as I know they always made sure one of them is at home. I was rarely left on my own," Mia said.

After Mia collected all the stuff from all the shelters and what was left from the fire she got into the truck with Sam and looked at everything one last time. They drove through the night to the new location of the base where her uncle was now waiting for her. They drove into town and Mia could see the buildings were a lot more. "Where are we?" Mia asked.

"The capital, this is where we will have to wait until either the base is rebuilt or we are given a new location," Sam siad. I need to be licenced to use my mother's gear dont I?" Mia asked. "Yes, and your uncle will help with that. I think he will be happy knowing your mother's gear wasn't lost and if we can train you to use it, it will help the team a lot," Sam siad.

Sam drove into the base and Mia realised how big the place really was. Mike was standing talking outside when he saw the two moving trucks. "Two truck?" he asked. "Yes, your sister still had all of her gear they didn't find it at all but Mia doesn't have a licence yet so that's the first thing we will need to do since we are here, "Sam siad.

"Why would Mia need a licence?" Mike asked. "Well, she's not going to sell any of the gear and wants to use it instead. Looks like we have another trainee on the base," Sam siad.
