Chapter 12

Mia was sitting on a bed in the shelter below the base. She was the only one there but she was starting to wish she had something to draw on. She happy when the lady gave her some clean clothes and some soap to clean herself up.

She found herself looking at the door and wished that she could help the rest of the team but since she wasn't registered she couldn't help them. The council would not allow it. She walked up and down the shelter and found herself wondering if everyone was okay. She heard the door open and went to see who was at the door of the shelter.

She found herself looking at the man who sold all of her parents belongings. "What do you want?" Mia asked. "I want to talk to you so that you can understand where we stand from now on," the man siad. "I think it's best if we never meet again," Mia said.

"Wait not so fast young lady," the man siad. "Who are you anyway?" Mia asked. "I am Captain James from team Alaska. Like your uncle's team, we help where ever we are needed. Whatever that may be?" Captain James said. "So you the captain James my mom always spoke about," Mia said.

"O your mother spoke about me, what did she say?" Captain James asked. "Nothing you don't know already," Mia siad. Of course, what she didn't tell Captain James was that her mother warned her about James illegal schemes and would always make everyone on the base bay for it. Team Alaska did not have a good reputation.

"Then what I am about to tell you should not be new to you then," Captain James said. "What is it, Captain James? If this about any more money my mother owns you. Please do as my uncle told you and have it in writing including proof that it was my mother that loaned the money from you in the first place," Mia siad.

"Don't you trust me Mia dear?" Captain James asked. "No, you have a reputation of cheating and stealing. You shouldn't even be here," Mia said. "You are going to learn who is in charge around here one way or the other," Captain James siad. "You are not my legal guardian and not the one I work for," Mia siad.

"You will learn to do as I say one way or the other," Captain James said. What Captain James didn't know was that Mia had her hand on the speaker and the whole base was hearing every one of Captain James words. They heard her telling captain James what her uncle Mike told captain James to do in the first place.

"Mia you see i know you are Zara's only daughter. You should also know your mother had no dept with me. The only problem that I have with your mother is that she chose John over me," Captain James said.

"My mom made her chose you should just accept it," Mia siad. "You should be my daughter," Captain James siad. He tried to touch Mia but she faces slapped him instead. "You make me sick, can you just go back to your job and leave me alone," Mia siad.

"What are you talking about, I came here to tell you I know you trained behind your fathers back," captain clover said. "So what if I trained more than my father told me to. You dont know the dangers my family faced because of decisions my father made," Mia said.

"O I know you are a rainbow user and I know your skills are among the rarest skills this world has come to know off," Captain James siad. "So what, I am not going to work for you," Mia said.

"I am not giving you a choice my dear. Tell your uncle you would rather work with me than with him," Captain James said. "I dont have to tell him anything besides my dad will be looking for me and my uncle is the first place he will look," Mia siad.

Her uncle Mike walked in behind Captain James followed my Sam and both noticed Mia's hand was on the speaker button. "You even more stupid than my mother described," Mia siad. The man tried to grab Mia but she stepped aside and captain James' hand hit the wall. "You are going to regret doing that," the man siad.

"Regret doing what? I didn't do anything," Mia siad. Captain James finally noticed Mia's hand was on the speaker button. "You do know that button does not work. It has never worked," Captain James said.

"Tell me if it doesn't work why is it that my uncle is standing behind you?" Mia siad. Captain James turned around and looked at Mike. "I can explain Mike?" he said. "Tell me did i not tell you to leave Mia alone?" Mike said. "Yes and if Zara didn't owe you any money why did you sell all their belongings?" Sam asked.

"Because I deserve all her attention," Captain James siad. "No you do not," Mia siad. "Do not talk back to me young lady. You should know better than talk back to a base captain. You were warned not to cause trouble for any more base's," Captain James said.

"Not so fast James, you might be a captain but abusing other people is against the rules," the woman from the council said. "O Jasmine I was just joking around," Captain James said. "It didn't sound like you were joking James," Jasmine said.

Mia took a step back from everything and took a deep breath. Her heart was pounding in her chest. "Mia are you okay?" Sam asked when he noticed Mia taking a deep breath. "Yes I am okay, this is a lot more attention than I am used to," Mia replied.

"What do you mean my dear?" Jasmine asked. "My parents raised me in the forest away from people. Now I know why?" Mia said. Jasmine looked at Mia and asked, "how did you make friends if you were alone most of the time?"

"That was something my mom was worried about. I remembered Sam since we used to live close to him and his family. They didn't know what my powers were back then but As soon as I started to discover my power they took me into hiding. We moved around al because of the hunters," Mia siad

"How are you finding the base so far?" Jasmine asked. "Its been great so far only, i dont like the alarm that much," Mia siad. "What is wrong with the alarm?" Jasmine asked.

"She has the same problem whit it that I have. Sometimes it's just too loud and it's not good for our hearing," Sam siad. Jasmine looked at Mia and asked, "You have a sensitive hearing?" she asked. "Yes and better vision than most. Seeing at night isn't a problem for me. I found I dont need a light even if the moon is dark," Mia siad.

Jasmine looked at Mia and asked, "what else can you do child?" Mia looked at her uncle Mike who replied, "its okay Mia the members of the council needs to know, what you can do." Mia looked at Jasmine and said, "I can do wind, water, fire, earth, lightning and I am able to combine them," Mia replied.

Jasmine's eyes grew wide and said, "no wonder your father hid you in the forest." "It's not that special," Captain James siad. "Just before my parents disappeared they had a really big fight. I think my mom knew they were coming," Mia siad.

"What were they fighting about?" Jasmine said. "My mom told my dad that, they need to tell me. It was something about their past and that my father assumed the hunters won't find us. I remember my mom telling my dad that they needed the team to keep me safe," Mia siad.

Jasmine raised an eyebrow and asked, "your parents didn't tell you about their past?" Mia shook her head and said, "that's why they fought, mom wanted to tell me but before they could mom took me to the shelter. It was the last time I saw them."

Jasmine looked at Mike and asked, "are you okay with her on your team?" Mike looked at Mia and said, "Yes I am okay with it Jasmine besides her father trained her so it should be okay," Mike said.

Jasmine looked at Mia and siad, "very well Mike but it sounds like we have a few things to keep in mind when we place your team again." Mia looked at Jasmine and asked, "are you talking about my uncle Zack?"

"No, but why would I talk about that idiot?" Jasmine asked. "Because he is involved in the disappearance of the elemental users," Mia siad. "WHAT do you mean he is involved?" Jasmine asked. Mia told Jasmine what had happened at her uncle Zack's home and how she got to her uncle Mike's home.
