Mia found herself sitting in front of the council as she tried her best to answer as many of the questions as she could. When they were done asking questions they told her that she could leave the room. She got up and walked to the two oak doors that separated the room from the rest of the building.
When Mia closed the door and turned around Mike and Sam was sitting outside the room waiting for her. "How did everything go?" Mike asked. "It was okay, they asked a lot of questions," Mia siad. "Did they let you ask any questions?" Sam asked. "No, when they were done asking questions I was told I could leave the room," Mia siad.
"Well one way or the other, you and I need to have a talk. My sister was right about one thing, you do need to know about their past," Mike said.
Mia followed her uncle to where the Clover base personnel was staying. She looked around the room and asked, "I didn't know we were this many?"
"The Clover base I think is about thirty members. Most of them dont live on the base but in the town with their families," Sam siad.
"Will be going back to the clover base?" Mia asked. "The whole town is gone Mia, there is nothing for us to go back to," Mike siad. "What happens now?" Mia asked. "We wait until they relocate us, to another base," Sam siad.
"How many bases are there for people like us?" Mia asked. "A lot, as far as I know at the last base count we were more than a hundred different bases but not everyone has the same skills. We can mostly help the search and rescue teams. There are bases that are better equipped to help find people like your parents," Sam said.
Mia was looking at everyone around her and asked Sam, "do you think I can get registered while we are here?" Sam looked at Mia and asked, "are you in a hurry?" Mia took a deep breath and exhaled. "I don't have anything to draw with and I dont have anything to do, so it makes sense that I try to get registered now," Mia said.
"Yes, and you need a driver's licence too," Mike said. "I suspect they will insist that she continue with her training?" Sam said. "It would be a good idea, the organization doesn't dare to challenge a whole base. It would attract too much public attention. But they will not let an opportunity pass where they can take someone if that person is alone," Mike siad.
Mia looked at her uncle and Sam and asked? "What do you think we should do then?" Mike sat down on the couch and looked at Sam. "Well, I think we should start by getting you licenced to drive and then we register you as a member of the team. Since your father trained you so well, I suspect there are very few things we need to teach you," Mike said.
Mia looked at her uncle and asked, "what do you think dad would think about all this?" Mike looked at Mia and replied, "your father is a very difficult man to get along with Mia. If I were to geuss this might not be his first choice as a career for you but he will be happy to know. His enemy will not have an easy task trying to get to you," Mike said.
Mia was sitting on the couch reading a book on all the rules of the road that she had to know. She was looking at a page that explained to her what several roads signs meant when a man came into the room. "Excuse me are you Mia, John and Zara's only daughter?" the man asked.
Mia looked up from her book at the man. She noticed he was in a black suit and was wearing a white shirt. His hair was brown and all though he had no beard Mia studied the man for a while before she answered. "Why do you want to know?" she asked.
The man looked at Mia and siad, "look they have been missing for months now. We are trying to find them but we need more information," the man siad. "There really isn't much that I can tell you, sir. My parents isolated me from the world and for good reason. All I can tell you is that they had an argument. I fell assleep and my mother woke me up in the early hours of the morning. She took me to the shelter where my uncle found me after I called him," Mia siad.
"According to the report your heard voices outside but we checked the shelter. It's impossible for anyone to hear through the shelters that your father build," the man siad.
"I am a rainbow user, supper hearing is one of my skills. It why I have these with me. I dont like the alarms since they hurt my ears," Mia siad. The man studied Mia for a second walked over to the fire alarm and let it go off. The speaker was above Mia and it started ringing immediately. The roof sprinklers went off and Mia went to her knees and held her hears.
Tears started to flow down her face and she screamed out of pain. Mike came running into the room but stopped when he saw the man. Sam on the other hand rushed to Mia's side and placed a pair of earphones on her ears. It was designed to be soundproof so the moment he placed it over Mia's ears she stopped to look at Sam. She felt dizzy and her head was hurting.
"Mike she needs a doctor. That sound was too much for her," Sam replied. Mike looked at Mia and back at the man. "You will stay away from my niece you hear me," Mike said. He picked Mia up and carried her to the doctor that was staying on the base with the teams.
The doctor gave Mia some pain medication and spoke to Mike. "Make sure she rest and no loud sounds for at least a while. If this keeps up she could lose her hearing," the doctor said. Mia walked out of the doctor's office with her uncle Mike. The man and his boss were sitting in front of the doctor's office waiting.
Mia stopped to look at him and he asked, "it's still impossible for you to have heard the voices outside the shelter. YOu know what I think, I think you helped your uncle to kidnapped your parents," the man siad. Mia narrowed her eyes and looked at the man.
"What would you know, you were not there," Mia siad. "You see Mia I think you are making the whole thing up," the man siad. Mia was about to say something when Jasmine came down the hallway towards the doctor's office. "Mia there you are, can I have a word with you?" she asked.
Mia walked with her and she asked, "are you okay?" Mia took a deep breath and said, "having my hearing is a pain in the ass and no one seems to understand or believe me."
"Well, there is good reason for this believe Mia. Tell me why did you go off on your own back to your house?" Jasmine asked. "I went back to find proof that I wasn't lying," Mia said.
"What do you mean my dear?" Jasmine asked. "Well, I suppose it's part of the punishment for having a father that hid you from the world. NO one believes anything I say," Mia siad.
"It's not that we dont believe you Mia it's just. You are not on any of our records," Jasmine siad. "So what are you saying?" Mia asked.
"The council needs to think about the safety of team clover and the rest of the elemental users. I am sorry Mia but since John and Zara didn't list you as their daughter. I am afraid I will have to ask you to leave this base and never contact anyone of us again. The man in the black suit will take you somewhere save," Jasmine siad.
Mia took a deep breath and said, "I dont want to waste your time anymore. I understand I should have known better. My dad was right, I dont need to know who any of you really are. NO wonder he never trusted any of you," Mia said.
"Mia dont be like this. Just try to understand Mia," Jasmine said. "No, you need to understand. My whole life I only knew my mom and my dad. My father didn't trust anyone he saw. If a man would come to our home he would move us the next day. He always told me that the only one I can trust is me. Thank you for your help but I dont need it anymore. I am sorry for wasting everyone's time," Mia said.
She took out the earplugs and before Jasmine could stop her she ran to a door that wasn't locked and went outside. The storm had calmed down a lot and Mia rushed into the forest that wasn't far from the base location. This was where she proved who's daughter she really was for everyone chased after her and no one could catch her.
