It was early one morning when there was a knock on the cabin's door. Mia felt nervous but chose to open the door. As she opened the door, there stood a man in a government uniform. "Can I help you, officer?" Mia asked. "Tell me, are you responsible for this storm we have had?" the man asked.
Mia let the man in and made him a cup of coffee. "Yes, my parents raised me away from the world. In isolation, because they knew how dangerous the power was. I have been having trouble coping now that they are missing." Mia replied as she gave the man the coffee.
"You have no other family?" the man asked. "I do, but the situation is difficult to explain," Mia siad. "What do you mean?" the man asked. "Well, my parents are John and Zara Lazare. My mother had two brothers Mike and Zack. My father had a brother called Kevin," Mia said.
"Wait, your part of that family?" the man asked. "Yes, and there are people that have been making threats and stuff. They dont want me to communicate with clover. My uncle Kevin can't help me because of the base and team that he has. I am on my own. Everything just got too much," Mia siad.
"Your powers, they are connected to your emotions?" the man asked. "Yes, I mean, father was training me to control it better. They were, kidnapped before he could finish. He was looking for a place that was isolated enough. So that he can train me to use and control the storm element, but he never got to it," Mia said.
"Tell me, are these paintings your work?" the man asked. "Yes, my mother taught me. Of course, that was drawing. These paintings I did by reading the books of how to paint," Mia said. "They are beautiful. What is your plan now? Since we can not risk you losing control again," the man siad.
"I dont know, but I will stay here for a while and visit each of our homes. Sell my paintings and try to make sense of everything. I do have a lot of power. I do need the safety of the team, but not if their actions can trigger my emotions. Out here, I am in control but going back means a risk of losing control. Sally and my Uncle Kevin want me to at least stay close to them or clover, but I dont want people to find me and threaten me again," Mia siad.
"You do understand your power makes you a threat to society?" the man said. "You don't want to know how many times my parents fought over that same question. Even they didn't have an answer," Mia siad.
"Tell me, is your storm element your only power?" the man said. "It's one of two mega elements I have. My second one is the ability to create. It's a skill my mother has. I can use fire, water, wind, earth and lightning, do have vision and hearing. A siren outside my room is very painful. I can not control it either," Mia siad.
"So you can control your emotions best in an environment like this, but you're having trouble controlling it among others?" the man siad. "Yes, if that even makes sense, it sounds stupid, though," Mia answered.
"Well, your father did train you well, and he did a good job hiding you from us. No wonder he did. The normal way of dealing with cases like yours isn't going to work, so I will need to talk to my superiors," the man siad. "Is it going to take long? I heard they kidnapped my parents, not because of my father's power but my mothers. If their kidnappers find out? I have the same element. They might come after me. That's if they haven't figured that out already," Mia siad.
"We will not be leaving you alone out here for too long. I will be back once I checked in with my superior. Tell me will you let us test your power to check if there are any other elements we need to worry about?" the man asked. "No, you can test me just as long as you know; Sally might want to know about what has been happening. I think I might be in trouble with my uncle mike for leaving and not saying anything," Mia siad.
"Somehow, their anger is the last thing you should be worried about? I can see why they would be worried," the man said and left. Mia was busy making dinner when the man had returned. He knocked on the door. When Mia answered the door. She let him back in.
"Something smells very good?" he asked. Mia noticed the men with him but didn't say anything. "I am making dinner, do you want some?" Mia asked. "Yes, that would be nice, since we also need to talk to you," the man siad. "I thought I should tell you, I should have phoned my uncles by now, I haven't I dont know what I should tell them. I mean I dont want to be threatened again," Mia siad.
"So I take it you won't be going back then?" one of the men asked. "I dont know yet sir, I know that team clover has eyes on their base and I suspect so does my uncle Kevin. Zack well there's evidence that he had a hand in my parent's kidnapping. I tried being a ranger, I passed the test and all. Working in the forest can be a solution but it, not a solution if my uncle isn't going to deal with whoever has eyes on his base," Mia said.
"I can see how that is a problem?" the man siad. "Yes if I am out on patrol anyone of them can ambush or threaten me. I will have to at least try to defend myself and that's going to be a problem if whoever this group has advanced skills," Mia replied.
"Look I am sorry I don't think we have been introduced?" Mia said. "O sorry my bad, I am officer Red and this is my superior Leon and this lady is Delilah," Red siad. "I am Mia nice to meet you all. Dinner is almost ready, Mia was busy adding the last ingredient when she felt dizzy. She walked to a chair and sat down.
"Is something wrong Mia," Red asked? "It's just a dizzy spell I have been having. It was the first time I lost control over my storm powers. I haven't regained much power yet. It's why usually it's easy to clear the snow but I haven't been able to do that," Mia siad.
"Using too much power can have that effect on any Elementalist. Once you have eaten you should be feeling better," Leon siad. Mia got back up to get the food but her feet gave out under her and as Red caught her she passed out. The men looked at one another and Delilah said, "I think we need to get her back to the base. She needs medical help."
Mia woke up in a snow-white room. She tried to sit up but Red caught her and helped her sit up. "What happend?" Mia asked. "You complained you were dizzy and collapsed. We had to bring you to a medical facility," Red siad.
Mia held her head and asked, "how long was I out for?" Red looked at his watch and said, "Three days give or take, one thing is for sure. We know you started the storm but someone made it worse," the man siad. "What do you mean?" Mia asked. "I mean someone boosted your power," Red siad. "Can you even do that?" Mia asked.
"Yes, well your lucky to be alive. Most elementals dont survive at all," Red siad. "My uncle I should phone them," Mia siad. "We already phoned both Mike and Kevin and informed them what had happend. They arrived a few hours ago and we have been having trouble since they haven't stopped fighting," Red said.
Mia laid back down and closed her eyes. "Are you okay Mia?" Red asked. "No I am dizzy and my head the spinning isn't stopping," Mia siad. Doctors rushed to Mia's side and they started to treat her.
"What is wrong with her?" Mike asked. "The fact that she is here is your fault how can you not notice the hunters outside your base?" Kevin shouted. Sam looked out of the door and then at Kevin. "She did complain that someone has been giving her a hard time. It's my fault I should have made sure she went into the base first," Sam said.
Luna came into the room and said, "Captain I thought you should know, they found the men and they are not hunters but old members from clover that knows what kind of jobs Mia's parents did. According to them, Mia's parents became assassins," Luna said. "That's not possible, they must have misunderstood the situation," Mike siad.
"Yes, and you are right they did misunderstand the situation. They saw John train Mia a hard way. They asked him why but he wouldn't say so assumed they were training her as an assassin and reported them to Zack who took action by selling them out. Mike, Kevin the only reason Mia was being targeted was that they thought she was ordered to kill you," Luna siad.
