Chapter 58

"Get her out of this base. She does not belong here," an old man shouted. "It's okay i will leave," Mia replied but when she took her truck keys the old man replied, "you will leave but the truck stay's."

"That truck is my property," Mia replied. "Not any more, it is our property from now on. Security removes this girl from the base. Hours later Mia found her stranded in a small town in the middle of the night with nowhere to go. "I don't believe this, my phone, our money everything was in the truck," Mia replied.

Mia was found a homeless shelter to stay in but they wouldn't let Bella stay in the shelter so Mia chose to sleep on the street that night. When the sunrised the next morning Mia foudn the bulitin board that advertised all kinds of jobs. Mia and Bella started to work she knew they needed money now more then ever. That night Mia stood infront of a map only to realise, she wasn't anywhere near the road she used to travel here. The buss didn't travel this road anymore.

Mia looked at Bella and asked, "how are we sepose to get back to clover now?" She found the hotel have been abandoned and many of the poeple had moved to diffrent towns. Mia realsied she and Bella will have to sleep on the street once again but with a cold front moving in Mia desided to keep moving and so she followed the map to the next town.

Back at the base Kevin yelled at the old man. "She is my niece, tell me you didn't leave her out there in the middel of no where when you have all her stuff. How is she sepost to call for help?" Kevin asked the old man. "What do you mean? She stole that truck? She is luck i didn't report her to the police," the man said. "That truck was her fahters property and when he lost the storage unit they said she could keep everything. No one said anything about the truck being your property," Kevin shouted back.

Mia in the mean time had found a cave and started to make a fire. She had no idea where she was going mainly bacause of the clouds blocking the stars. "This is so not fair, why couldnt' they drop me off closer to a town with more poeple or at least give me a map," Mia shouted but a sudden growl from Bella had put Mia on edge.

A man came to her but Mia ran off with Bella next to her. However it didn't take long before the men serounded her but they underestimated her and her power. Mia managed to get away from the men. Mia was exhausted when she and her partner arived in a small town early the next morning. She sat on a bench for a moment and took a deep breath.

"If that was sepose to be a joke i dont think its a joke," Mia said. "Well i dont think its a joke that you fought in the forest last night," came a angry voice. Mia looked up and noticed the police man standing there. "I't was only out of self devense, i tried to warn them to stay away," Mia replied.

"I will not alow your kind to destroy this town," them policeman siad. It didn't matter what Mia told the police he was conviced she was a danger and so he locked her up in jail. Bella was taken to a dog shelter where she got adoppted that very day.

The next day Mia apeared in court for property damage and was ordered to pay everything back. Starting with comunity service. Mia was forced to pick up all the trash in the town. Mia found work on the bulitin board but the jobs didn't pay much. Every sent she made went to pay for the damages she caused in the fight and weeks later Mia found herself sitting on the courtst steps having paid the last of the bills.

However she was devistated when she learned Bella had been addopted. "But she was my partner? How can you just let someone adopt her like that," Mia said. "I am sorry we dind't think you would be coming back for her," the lady said.

"What do you mean? She was a gift to me, she is part of my work. She is part of my family, just because i am stranded does not mean i can not take care of her," Mia shouted.

Mia could hear a car door shut close and a angry man cursing outside the adoption center. "I dont care what it takes i want Bella back," Mia yelled. The man came in and Bella barked for joy wagin her tale when she saw Mia. The man looked at the lady and said, "this dog is uncontrolable, she sleeps on the beds and on the coutch. She destroyed all my furniture," the man said in angre. "Sir i am sorry there must be a mistake. She was really well behaved when we tested her," the lady siad.

"She is a trained ranger dog. What did you exspect would happen? If you want a lap dog go buy one. Bella is a working dog!" Mia shouted at the man. "What do you mean ranger dog?" the lady from the adoption center asked. "We reasently joined the ranger force and got seperated from out team. I was trying to get back to them but i got lost," Mia replied.

The lady looked worried at Mia and said, "the rangers were banned from this area. If they find you or your partner it would not end good for the two of you." Mia looked shocked at the man she looked at the lady and asked, "can i get my dog back so that i can get out of here?"

The woman agreed and said, "you will be able to find a ranger when you cross the river but hurry. If your spotted they will hunt you. Elementals are not welcome here," the lady said. Mia took Bella's lead and together she ran to the forest. She knew it would be easy to get lost but she had to keep running.

That night Mia spotted the starts she remember her dad showing her how to navagate using the stars. As tierd as she was Mia kept going. The morning sun broke over the land and Mia finally heard a river in the distance but stoped when she saw how big the river was. It was rushing over the rocks and the water was falling down a big cliff creating the biggest waterfall she had ever seen.

Mia and Bella drank a little water and walked upstream. Mia stopped at some point to check if Bella's feet was okay. Usually dogs would need shoes to travel threw these parts. Mia noticed Bella's feet was okay so far but she got worried about where they could cross the river. She knew she could cross the river creating an ice bridge but she has never created an ice bridge this big before.

After a short rest Mia kept walking upstream in the hope she would find a way accross the river. Hungry and tierd she finally found a place she could use to cross the river with. Mia created an ice bridge picked up Bella and walked accross the ice. Once on the other side Mia melted the ice and the water washed away any evedence that she has been there.

Mia kept walking untill she came to an all to familiar spot. She knew right there and then they had made it finally but victory was short lived when Mia spotted a black fan not far from her. Mia sat on the ground and did what she could to keep Bella quite. It wasn't long before the van left and Mia walked threw town to the local hotel.

She paid for a room that night. She used her money that she had earned to buy a few things she needed including shoes for Bella. After taking a shower and feeding Bella. Mia ate the pizza she had bought for herself. She has never felt so hunry in her life. The next thing she knew she needed to do was contact Kevin. Lucky for Mia she memorized the number.

Using the hotel phone Mia dialed her uncles number. "Hello, Kevin speaking," came the voice. "Uncle, its Mia. I am okay and were save," Mia repleid. "What where are you Mia?" Kevin asked. "In a small town called Evervale and uncle they are here as well. Mom and Dads kidnappers," Mia siad. "Okay Mia i need you to get out of the town right now," Kevin siad.

"I can't i have no truck and i am exhausted from all that walking. I had to cross a river but question why did Rose's boss desided to drop me off in the one part of the land that had rangers baned. In fact i got into a lot of trouble while i was there," Mia said.

"Are you sure your okay. If thats where you had to walk from. That road is very dangerous," Kevin siad. "We're okay but i nearly lost Bella and i dont think i can ride the buss with Bella," Mia replied.

"Evervale is a weeks ride from Clover and its going to take even longer to walk. Mia I wish i could help you but right now your on your own. Zack managed to get you kicked out from the ranger program but i spoke to Mary Anne and told her your an adult. Zack shouldn't have that kind of power so it looks like your still a ranger," Kevin said.

"What should i do uncle?" Mia asked. "I can not help you right now Mia. The fact is i need to prepare for our mission accross the sea. Find the closes ranger office and phone me from there office. I will send you all your document and Mai you need to start making preparation to go with us. We need you one this mission," Kevin siad.

"How do i get back to clover without a truck, uncle?" Mia asked. "Your father trained you well Mia. You will find a way, I know you will," Kevin siad. Mia put down the phone and for once she wished she wasn't alone. Clover is a week away and she has not form of transport.

Mia looked at Bella and said, "i geuss where just going to buy a truck then," Mia siad. So we have to take a lot of high paying jobs for a while," Mia said.

The next morning Mia discovered the rangers office is in the next town and to get there she will need to buy a truck first and at a local dealer there was a truck that looked like it could do the job. Unfortunatly most of the trucks were brand new and that meant Mia needed a lot of money.

At the buliten board Mia found two highpaying jobs. Both was protection jobs and both required her to be on her gaurd. Mia looked at Bella and siad, "I don't think we have any other choice," Mia replied.

Mia took both jobs and lucky for her nothing bad had happend. Mia was about to get into bed when a lady came to her and asked, "your a ranger aren't you?" Mia looked at the lady and said, "yes but i am still in training."

"Please my girl, she went into the forest to play and she isn't back yet. I will pay whatever it takes. Just find her," the lady begged Mia as the tears flowed down her cheeks. Mia took the job but warned the lady that they have never taken a mission before and that it might be better to get help from the rangers in the next town but the lady didn't care all she wanted was her girl to come home.
