Chapter twelve: attacked

"Morning, my love." Conrad kissed her forehead gently.

"Morning, handsome." Cynthia rubbed her eyes and stretched. Conrad let out a playful growl. Cynthia giggled then sprinted towards the bathroom. He was quick and grabbed her around the waist."Conrad, I have to pee!" Conrad let her go but chuckled.

Once she took care of her early morning needs, Cynthia came back out and snuggled into Conrad's arms. Yesterday was a glorious day. Conrad suggested they take a walk around the pack and introduce her to everyone now that she was their Luna. She thought that was a great idea. After dressing and grabbing a bite to eat the two headed out. They had been greeting people for two hours and were a but hungry again. Conrad recommended a bakery which had delicious pastries and coffee. Cynthia agreed. They sat at a window seat and talked easily together about random things really. The pastries were delicious! After a bit, Conrad took Cynthia's hand and kissed the back of it. "Shall we continue our tour?" "Sure."

They neared the SW corner of the territory when Conrad realized he had nit seen a patrol. He mindlinked Simon and Steve to find out if something had happened to explain why there was no patrol. Just as Simon was responding Conrad heard Cynthia (who had just walked maybe 25 feet behind him) scream. "Rogues! How did they not smell them or sense them." Simon and Steve heard him as his link was left open. They both started running and shifted intonwolf form heard to the SW corner of the territory. Conrad had shifted immediately as he darted towards the rogues who had their hands on his mate.

Cynthia was being held.down by 4 rogues and she was in shock. Conrad threw them off her,Cynthia jumped up and Conrad stood in front of her. He growled. He linked Cynthia, "Run when I say. Get out of here." "No! I will not leave you!" Before he could say anything more 10 rogues surrounded them. Conrad growled, "Why are you here? This is Blood Moon territory. Leave!"

The larger rogues said,"Not without her."

Cynthia was startled. Conrad was furious! He slashed his claw out and sliced 2 rogues throats immediately. "LEAVE NOW!" Conrad warned again. "Not without her."

Game on, Conrad thought. He lept at the apparently spokesperson, the larger rogue, and the two fought. Just then Cynthia lifted her nose...that smell...and she trembled... Silver Moon warriors! "They found me! O Goddess, no!" Conrad slit the belly of the rogue open and turned to Cynthia, "What? Who?"

Just then the rogues backed off and 10 Silver Moon pack warrior wolves surrounded them. "Silver Moon warriors, Conrad, " Cynthia mindlinked Conrad.

Conrad pushed Cynthia back til a lake was behind her. He stood growling and nashing his teeth at the warriors before him. He charged them! "Oh my Goddess, he charged them!" Cynthia linked the entire Blood Moon pack. Simon linked back, "Hold on we are almost to you!" "Near the lake," Conrad linked while battling 2 warriors. "Get Cynthia out of here!"

Three more warriors attacked him. Cynthia felt rage overcoming the fear. She closed her eyes fighting the rage when a hand grabbed her arm! She opened her eyes and saw Gregory, Silver Moon pack's Delta. She was now beyond rage. Just then her pendant began to glow and her body began to rise up off the ground and glow. Gregory dropped his grip on her and his mouth went wide. She bellowed, "LEAVE MY MATE ALONE! NOW OR DIE WHERE YOU STAND!" All the wolves stopped as if frozen. Conrad was on the ground semi conscious, bloodied. Cynthia raised her right hand and the 6 warriors nearest Conrad rose off the ground. She flew her hand to the right and all 6 flew 100 feet into the trees and crashed to the ground unconscious. The rest took a step back from where ever they were standing - further away from Cynthia. She lifted her left hand and blue flames danced in her palm. She pushed the flames towards 3 wolves to her left. All 3 were ashes in seconds. Gregory was shaking. Then Cynthia lifted her right hand again and this time the roots of the trees raised up and grabbed the rest of the rogues and Silver Moon pack warriors around their ankles. She dropped her hand and the roots pulled them down flat onto the ground and wrapped around them.

All this Simon saw as he frantically ran to fight. From a distance it was as if Cynthia was in a trance aa she floated above the battle scene. Cynthia raised both hands and clapped them together and lightning struck the lead warrior frying him where he lay secured to the ground. Cynthia descended and snapped out of the trance and ran to her fallen mate/husband, Conrad. Simon got to them along with 10 warriors of their pack as Cynthia kneeled by Conrad and placed her hands on his worst wound. Her eyes now silver instead of purple or baby blue. Conrad's and Cynghia's pendants glowed and Cynthiaxs hands glowed as she worked from one gapping wound to another healing them all. All stood mesmerized. Conrad was no longer bleeding out and Cynthia now took his head and placed in her lap as she sat on the ground in a pool of drying blood. She stroked his hair and cooed to him. Simon and the warriors circled their Alpha and Luna and knelt. Evening came. No one had moved. Cynghia's eyes had returned to blue buther cooing did not stop as she sat there holding her beloved head in her lap watching his chest rise and fall. But there was no other movement from him.

It was now dark and the moonlight cast an ethereal light on the scene: bowed warriors surrounding an unconscious Alpha and his Luna. Simon mindlinked Cynthia, "Luna, shall we carry Aloha home? It is late now."

Cynthia turned to look at Simon and her eyes turned purple. Then looked down at her beloved and lifted his massive body up into her arms as if cradling a child. She hugged him to her chest and rocked back and forth. To Simon it looked as if she was willing him to wake. She kissed his neck where she had marked him and waited.

Conrad was seemingly unconscious ...at least to all eyes observing the scene he was. But while he appeared unaware of what was going on around him, he was not. He felt the sparks of Cynghiaxs touch. He felt her healing his torn body. He heard her cooing and felt her rubbing his head. And yet he could not wake up. He could not tell his love he was ok. It was as if he was waiting for something or someone to come before he could return to her.

Light. Beautiful, captivating bluish hued light, like the moon's light on a fall night radiated around Conrad. He turned his head to the right and saw her, the Moon Goddess herself. "My son, your powers are awakening. Cynthia's are also awakening. She has saved you and you both must find those who can help you. When you awaken, summon them. Call a meeting and begin to align the other supernaturals. The Alpha who has lost his heart will search for your mate,my daughter. He wants her for evil, for power. You must protect her. You must protect one another."

"Yes, my Goddess."

Simon was growing edgy. Conrad had not moved and Cynthia seemed to be very protective of him. No one could touch either of them. The power emanating from Cynthia kept them all back. All he and the warriors could so I'd protect them and wait. Cynthia mindlinked Simon, "Patience. She has a message for him." She then returned to cradling Conrad and rocking back and forth. Simon was perplexed but knew to keep quiet and wait.

Conrad twitched in her arms and Cynthia laid him down on her lap. Slowly his eyes opened and locked on Cynthia's. She bent over and gently kissed his lips. "Hello, my love."

She smiled, stroked his cheek and a lone tear rolled down her cheek. Conrad reached up and wiped the tear away."No tears,my love. You saved me. Our Mother, the Moon Goddess, sent a message through me." "I know."

Simon cleared his voice. Conrad looked around and saw ten of their best warriors and Simon, his Beta all kneeling in a protective circle around them. He sat up holding Cynthia's hand and addressed the group. "Let's go home."
