"What the hell happened?" Jarred asked Harrison silently
"Ms. Eresa insulted her till she gets pissed and did the same quite harsher and then Ms. Eresa slapped her, I tried to stop her but I can't" Harrison reasoned out
"What do you mean you can't?"
"Ms. Khalil had hit her with the folder before I could stop her" Harrison replied making Jarred raise his eyebrow
"The folder you say?" He repeated as he clearly remembered it has fifty pages and a thick cover. He clenched his fist and headed upstairs.
He slammed the door open and saw Khalil with his diet snack stuff on her mouth while applying ointment on her cheeks and seated in front of the mirror. She glanced in his direction but ignored him and stuffed the band-aid on her cheeks again.
Jarred felt the need to check her wound he certainly knows he caused, as it seems swollen together with some few parts of her face. He watched her apply ointment yet again on the corner of her lips which appears a little bit reddish.
"Anything?" She asked, making Jarred snap back to his senses.
"What makes you want to kill her?" He asked, gaining her full attention.
"Nothing much, just the way she talks" Khalil shortly replied and finally finished what she was doing and slumped on her bed weakly.
Jarred walked closer to her and watched her, sizing if she'd be less rude to talk to him.
She didn't meet his gaze and remained to chew the snack till it was empty.
"Do you wanna tell why she knows I'm an orphan?" Jarred heard Khalil's question that makes him look at her questioningly
"What do you mean?" He asked
"Ah-nevermind. If there's anything else you need to tell, I'm listening" Khalil sighed and closed her eyes.
Jarred went closer to her face silently observing every dent on it and clenched his jaw when he averted his eyes on the band-aid.
"Khalil" he called but Khalil was just quiet.
"Conrad"' he called once more but no response. He realized she dozed off when her breathing went calm and even her closed eyes seemed deep asleep.
He caresses her cheeks and she visibly flinches, turning her head to the opposite. He stared at her confused as to why she managed to take Harrison's applied pressure earlier and not his so lightly touched. Just imagining the image earlier made Jarred grit his teeth. He wants to kiss her cheek and say sorry, but he realized he doesn't deserve her forgiveness for leaving a scar on her flawless face.
How should I make it up to her?
This morning he clearly noticed how Khalil avoided him till now and that act alone infuriates him. He took off his suit and decided to go lay next to her.
He set himself beside her and placed his hand on her tummy and nose on her neck. He sighed as the fragrance of sweet scented soap invaded his nostrils, he was tempted to bite her but he kept his desire aside knowing she'll wake up and probably yell at him to get out of her room.
I don't seriously know what to do if you'll continue ignoring me, woman. He thought and took a quick nap.
____
He eventually woke up just at the perfect time for him to prepare himself for tonight's event, but he woke up not being in her grasp but facing her back. She'll usually cling to him when she feels him cuddling with her. He sat up still staring at his side profile and wondered if she was awake or not, either way, he got out of bed feeling bothered and annoyed and headed to his room.
He needs to attend a grand ball, a yearly celebration of his father's successful company. He's not interested but since everyone knows them, he can't let his image get damaged and he expects the asshole will surely attend.
He planned to take Khalil with him since she was acting as his fiance but he knows she'll not think twice to start a bloody war the moment she sees Larrison.
I want that kind of attention, he suddenly thought as he settled his tie and brushed back his hair. He wore his favorite watch and suddenly heard a knock on the door and it opened revealing Harrison.
"Ms. Khalil wished to come with you" Harrison stated and made Jarred momentarily freeze.
"She's in her room asleep, how'd you-"
"She came to my area when you were taking a nap in her room and asked me about this event so I told her" Harrison simply replied making Jarred clench his jaw.
"And I just wanted to inform you she's downstairs waiting for you" Harrison added and Jarred doesn't even need to hide his anger. He knows she'll make a mess if she comes with him.
Jarred turned back to the mirror dismissing Harrison and checked his appearance.
"What a pain" he murmured to himself and finally headed down quickly noticing the slaying woman on the couch fixing her hair.
"You seemed prepared, how unfortunate" he spoke, gaining her attention briefly.
"I won't cause you trouble Jarred if that's what's your concern about" she replied dryly making it harder for him to believe. He walked impossibly close to her ignoring the annoying bandaid on her cheeks and stared at her well-settled and simple makeup, she just stood there, didn't flinch nor bat an eye in his close proximity.
His hand went to search her body tracing every corner and looking for a possible weapon she can hide. He can't even deny the fact that she's utterly sexy tonight. He turned to face her tonight.
