Gibberish

The village that the King and his entourage had entered was neither too big nor too small.

There they found almost over a hundred houses in the village with numerous people seen, going about their daily routine.

The civilization that they had been eager to reach was right before their eyes but as soon as they entered the village's boundary, they encountered another problem.

Language, the means of communicating and interacting with another person, had been created to help them understand what the other was saying and express their views and thoughts to each other.

However, right now, this important system utilized in everyday life was the very root of their troubles.

The language that the King and his men spoke was incomprehensible to these villagers and what these village-dwellers said sounded like gibberish to the King and his fellow citizens of Valanthur.

King Zander knew that as time went by, various lands had developed their indigenous languages which were unique to them.

However, from time of old, a common language had been chosen which would aid them to understand and communicate with each other.

The language known as Remiculus was one that had been passed down through generations.

Known to be the language that their Demon Lords had taught their ancestors, Remiculus was declared as the universal language to display their respect to their Lords and their ancestors.

Hence the Rulers of the past opted to be well-versed in it and despite their indigenous languages, Remiculus was still taught to everyone irrespective of which Kingdom they belonged to.

For this reason, King Zander was surprised to see that this Kingdom had not chosen to teach its citizens the language that is universally accepted.

However, this was not his place to make that decision as their King must have his own reasons for doing so.

Yet the issue remained the same.

He needed someone who knew how to speak both languages to help interpret what the opposite person was speaking and also convey his message to them.

Not wishing to waste their time, Treegan Molt was trying to use gestures and actions in order to obtain some information from these villagers.

Their destination was the Capital of this Kingdom so all they needed from these people was directions to that place.

They hoped that in the Capital they would find people with whom they could converse as there was no scope for them to interact with these villagers.

However, Treegan's efforts were all in vain as these men and even curious little children who had come forward to see what was happening had no clue of what the outsiders were trying to convey.

"It's of no use, Master." He grumbled when he saw the children gawking at him with curiosity in their eyes but understood nothing of what he was trying too hard to gesture for quite a few minutes now.

As soon as they heard this sentence expressing his defeat coming from Treegan, the children widened their eyes before whispering something among themselves.

King Zander had been observing his surroundings and hence caught the animated conversation taking place among this small group of children who had come after noticing the presence of outsiders in their village.

He could see their heads bobbing as they even pointed in a certain direction during their conversation.

It seemed that they were debating something and once they came to a conclusion, they whispered a few sentences into the ear of one of the older men of their village who had been standing here.

'We wouldn't be able to understand even if you spoke out loud.' Treegan felt the urge to roll his eyes when he too witnessed this tiny commotion among the children.

However, without giving him the time to roll his eyes, these children held both of his hands and pulled him forward.

If he wished for, then he could have yanked his hands out of their hold as he was many times more powerful than they were.

Yet he did nothing of that sort but glanced at his Master without moving an inch from where he was.

Through this action, he was asking King Zander if he had permission to follow these children who seemed to be taking him somewhere.

In response, the King turned his attention to the first villager they had met here and upon seeing him nod in encouragement, King Zander gave his approval to his aide.

'We can protect ourselves if something goes wrong.' He nodded at Treegan who heard these words in his mind.

Thus with the children dragging Treegan forward, the rest of the group followed after them as well.

Throughout the walk that lasted for over fifteen minutes and brought them on an elongated path that stretched out through the entire village, Treegan was subjected to the children pulling and tugging on his arms.

'For Master…' He repeated like a chant to calm himself so as to not lash out at the noisy children leading them ahead.

The group of children finally came to a halt on the path they had been following until now, indicating that they had reached the destination to which they had been leading Treegan and the others until now.

King Zander frowned when he saw what was before them.

The exact replica of the village gates which they had entered on the other side of the village was seen here as well.

"Did they bring us to the exit of their village?" Treegan muttered and many others nodded their heads in acceptance of this theory.

However, King Zander only turned to the children, waiting to see if that was truly what they wished to show them.

Feeling the tall and stern man's gaze on them, the children straightened their backs before gulping their saliva.

One of them, who appeared to be the leader of this little gang, raised his hand and pointed in a certain direction.

"Essi!" He yelled after turning in that direction.

King Zander could not understand the word that he had just uttered but chose to stay silent as he was unable to comprehend what was going on here.

"Haa?"

While he was trying to make sense of this situation, a voice came from that same direction, making them turn as well.

The moment the group of children heard this voice, they ran towards the large thatched hut from where the voice had originated.

The King and his men turned as well and their eyes widened after seeing the figure stepping out of that hut once its doors were pushed open.

"You!?" Treegan was the first to react as he pointed his finger at the figure now surrounded by the little children who had led them here.
