Chapter 4 The Strange Smoke
( AN: For all that don`t read the Authors Thought box in the last chapter here a small reminder. We are now switching from first person perspective to third person perspective since we now know the name of our MC and I think I can describe everything better when I write in third person. )
After Yukikaze reached the edge of the forest she was standing in front of a large open grass field. On the other side of the grass field is a large group of trees were Yukikaze spotted the strange smoke yesterday.
Yukikaze wasn`t able to detect anything dangerous on the grass field and decided that it is safe to move over the grass field to investigate the strange smoke.
Yukikaze was tense the entire time until she reached the other side out of fear that there must be something more dangerous in this forest.
After she entered the group of trees she moved carefully in the direction she assumed were the strange smoke came from. After a while of searching she found all long dead creature that looked like a snake. From what Yukikaze could spot it was at least 10 meters long.
`Can I still use (Appraisal Lv.1) even if it`s dead? Well only one way to find out. `
Yukikaze tried using (Appraisal Lv.1). The result was a message from the system stating ( Host hasn`t fulfilled the requirements to use (Appraisal) on dead entity's. Requirement (Appraisal Lv.2).)
` Well thats shit. Well almighty system how can I level up (Appraisal Lv.1) now? ` Yukikaze thought sarcastically not expecting an answer. But against all expectations a message appeared in the view of Yukikaze.

If Yukikaze could talk she would have screamed yes but could only think it very loud in her head.

Yukikaze didn`t waste any moments and immediately used it onto the dead snake.What followed was the Status window of the dead snake.

`That explains the smoke but how did it die. It even had 1589 HP. How is the difference between common and uncommon so huge.` Yukikaze thought.
She moved closer to the dead snake and saw burn marks all over the body of the snake. The reason why she wasn`t able to see the burn marks was because the black scales of the snake made them quiet difficult to spot.
` Well I shouldn`t stay here for to long whatever killed this snake might come back. System is there anything of value that I could take with me? `
( Yes host. The most valuable is the Beast core near the heart that all beast have as soon as they reach uncommon grade. )
` Well at least something even though I don`t know if it is useful to me yet. Maybe I can sell it later?`
Yukikaze started using (Claw Lv.2) to cut through the entire snake in search of the beast core since she has no idea were the heart of a snake is.
While cutting through the snake (Claw Lvl.2) leveled up to (Claw Lvl.3). Because of the level up it was much easier for Yukikaze to cut into the snake. Eventually she felt something she couldn`t cut with (Claw Lv.3). She believed it was the beast core so she cut around it and tried to get it out. After several minutes of cutting and trying to pull the beast core out of the body of the snake she managed to get it out of the snake.

The beast core locked like a round glass sphere with a green light in the center of it. Even though it looked like it was out of glass you couldn`t see much though it and it was much more sturdy since Yukikaze accidentally dropped it while pulling it out.
` It looks beautiful. `
Yukikaze decided to put the beast core into the (System Inventory) next to the five (Healingpotions) and the (Lv.5 Beginner Box) that she can`t open until she levels up again.
` And with that the mystery of the strange smoke cloud is solved. It didn`t toke that long maybe I can search a bit for the caves. ` Yukikaze thought in here mind while being proud of dealing with the strange so swiftly without any problems.
" Grrrrrrr " sounded something behind Yukikaze. Yukikaze slowly turned around and saw a lion who had his mane out of actual fire. Yukikaze was still standing a good distance away from it and quickly used (Appraisal Lv.2) on it. After Yukikaze read the information she nearly panicked.

`The Quest is nice since I have to survive and escape anyways. ` Yukikaze immediately turned tail and ran away with (Dash Lv.1) and (Camouflage Lv.1) activated to both boost her speed and reduce the Fire Lions ability to sense her a little bit.
Yukikaze made the mistake off looking behind. The sight demoralized here even more seeing the Fire Lion easily catching up with here. After he was only 10 steps behind her the Fire Lion spit a fire ball at Yukikaze.
The only way of dodging throwing herself into a bush on the left side. She jumped in and successfully leveled (Dash Lv.1) to (Dash Lv.2) giving here an speed boost which launched here even further which was important for here survival.
When the fireball landed onto the ground the explosion was like that of an artillery shell. Even though Yukikaze was far enough away she still lost some HP.

` Another one of those and I`m dead for sure. ` Yukikaze thought while getting up and running away faster.
The Fire Lion ran straight through the bush which catches fire because of the fire lions fire mane. Yukikaze looked behind here to see the fire lion launching another fire ball. Yukikaze used one of her (Healing Potion) from here system Inventory healing her full.

Yukikaze wanted to dodge but while she was looking back she fell into a small hole causing the fireball to hit nothing.
Yukikaze fell for half a second and hurt herself because of the fall damage.

But Yukikaze ignored here surroundings and looked up to see that the hole is to small for the fire lion to follow through.
She escaped. But in what mess is she now?
