72. A Father’s Embrace

A step out of their bedroom, Aliana could not hold her tears any longer. She wiped her cheeks for the stray tears, but they would not stop. She was met with her mother's hug halfway to the living room.

Lesmana's gaze burned a hole as he stood, taking the change in his daughter's appearance.

"Mom, I'm sorry … please, forgive me …" Aliana sobbed as regret bloomed in her chest, choking her throat.

"It's okay." Her mother's gentle voice calmed the turmoil she felt, "How's the baby? Is my grandchild okay?"

Aliana nodded, a smile breached her tearful face. Fearfully, she looked up at her father.

A soft smile etched on her father's face.

Surprise beyond words, Aliana covered her face in her hands. Her father came, just for her.
