Chapter 70: Information

Cara was not the most annoying passenger I’d ever known, much to my surprise. I’d expected her to rattle on about King or Tasmyn or me, but once we knew we had gotten away from the cabin and were not being followed, she fell asleep, leaving Rafe and me to talk in peace.

“How long is it going to take?” I smothered a yawn.

Rafe glanced over at me. “About eight hours, I think. But I’m estimating. Could be longer.”

“I can drive if you get tired. Just let me know.” I bit back another yawn, and Rafe laughed.

“I’m okay. I’m too wired to sleep right now anyway. Just close your eyes. If I need you, I’ll let you know.”

I glanced back at Cara. Her eyes were shut and her mouth sagged.

“What do you think we’re going to find out? Is this a wild goose chase? A way for her to get a ride home?”
