The Beginning

I stared at the orange light that was probably coming from the street lights but how would I know. I'm currently laying on the backseat of a car, my mouth sealed with duct tape and hands tied up tightly but my legs were free so I immediately sat up straight and stared at my kidnapper.

He looked at me through the rearview mirror with a calm expression and returned his gaze on the road. I was shocked at how calm he was, like kidnapping was an everyday routine for him.

"Didn't expect you to be up so fast" He muttered lowly, turning his head to look at me and that's when I finally got a full glimpse of his face. Gray eyes, sharp jaw line, straight nose.

He's handsome

But I wasn't going to admit that. This man just kidnapped me because I witnessed something that I shouldn't have. I tried to talk but the duct tape wasn't allowing that so I brought up both of my hands and ripped the duct tape quickly.

"Fuck" I whispered with eyes closed because of the sting on the skin of my face was feeling. He remained silent and calm even though I was basically trying to be free.

"Please let me go" I said ignoring the hot pain on my upper lip. He stared at me and responded with a simple "Cant" I furrowed my eyebrows "Why not? I'm not going to tell anyone what I saw, I swear" I plead.

"You should've just stayed indoors. It's already midnight. Little girls should be indoors by this time" He said returning his gaze on the road and ending the conversation. I looked at him with disbelief and decided to keep my mouth shut. I slumped on the backseat and sighed heavily closing my eyes, feeling tears starting to form.

I should've stayed at home

....

"Dad"

"Dad" I said while poking his face but still no response. I sighed then turned off the tv. I went to the kitchen and reach for the black trash bag inside the second cabinet. I started picking up the empty can of beers that was all over the living room floor.

I stared at my so-called-father, who's always drunk ever since mom left us for a richer man. I removed my hat that smelled like peperoni since I worked at Peter's Pizza that is only five blocks away from our house.

I tied the bag after making sure that I picked up every single can and placed it on the side. I went up to do my night routine and changed my clothes.

Even though my father was an alcoholic, he never harmed me physically, but he never treated me like a daughter too. The only conversations that we ever have is "I don't have anymore money to buy food" and by food he means alcoholic beverages. After graduating high school he obviously couldn't pay for my tuition so I ended up working and doing everything for the both of us.

I stared at the window and watched the tree sway with the wind.

I need some fresh air

I grabbed my wallet and door key. I stared at my phone and decided to leave it since it was still charging. I went downstairs and stared at my unconscious father then went out. I zipped the jacket that I wore before going out and wrapped my arms around me. It was cold and windy tonight.

I decided to take a long walk while thinking of ways on how I can possibly fix this life of mine. I stared at the dark sky thinking about my mother. If only she stayed with us. My dad wasn't perfect but he was a good man. He worked his ass off for our family and made sure that we had food on our table everyday.

I was thinking too much that I didn't realize I walked too far. If only I knew that this would mess my life even more, I would've just stayed with my drunk father.

I was about to turn around and walk back home when I heard voices talking. I stopped and tried to listen, I heard two men talking but I couldn't see them.

"How did you even find m-me?" the other man stuttered. I looked at a dark alley and walked slowly towards it.

I've always been the curious one. I hate being curious it always makes me feel like I need to know something even if it doesn't involve me.

A man chuckled. His voice was the opposite, his voice was calm and soothing.

I touched the brick wall and remained hidden. I didn't want to look because they might see me

"Becoming homeless is an old move, Jacobi. You didn't think living in the streets would save your filthy soul right?" the man added with hatred evident in his voice. "I-I already told you everything that I know. I swear!" Jacobi said with a panicked voice.

The other man chuckled darkly "Are you sure? I think you failed to mention that your brother was involved with the little stunt that Jovanne planned"

Jacobi didn't respond

"How about Jovanne's surprise attack next week to kill me?" the man added. I quietly moved to finally take a peak and see what was happening with my own eyes

"F-fine, I'll tell you everything" Jacobi said. I looked at two men who were both very tall. I stared at the old looking man who has jet black hair and was wearing crumpled clothes, he looked really scared. He must be Jacobi.

I stared at the back of the tall man who was wearing casual clothes but still managed to look really good. Something was very interesting about this man. I wanted to see his face.

"Oh you dont need to" He said putting one hand behind his back "Your brother already told me everything" I looked at Jacobi who was staring at the other guy with wide eyes. "Y-you didnt...." He stuttered but when the other guy didn't respond something inside him snapped. His wide eyes turned into a glare and I immediately felt scared, I already knew something bad was going to happen.

"You killed him didn't you?" He asked shaking with anger. The other man lifted the back of his shirt and grabbed something that was shiny. I squinted my eyes to get a better look

"Tell him I said hello"

Everything happened so fast. One moment Jacobi was glaring at him then all of a sudden he was laying on the ground with a bullet hole on his forehead. I jumped at the loud sound of the gun. I gasped and hid behind the brick wall.

What the hell did I just-

"Shouldn't you be at home?" I jumped at the sound of a man's voice and I could feel the blood leaving my face as I turned pale. I looked at the man who just killed Jacobi.

I open my mouth to say something but the last thing that I remember was him covering my nose and mouth with a damp cloth.
