Liam was being thrown into disarray by the continuous strikes from his enemy. he couldn't maintain his position for an extended amount of time since the enemy wasn't giving him the opportunity to do so. One of the basic problems he was facing was the disparity in speed.

Liam had been training his strength in order to gain a stabilized hold between magic and warrior class. He had to give an equivalent amount of time to advance either class and eventually he couldn't get a result equivalent to someone as inclined to melee attacks as his opponent.

The second problem was raised because of the class combination and the limitation of the battlefield. The battlefield was bound to the area in which the stage spanned. Beyond that area would be the null region where, if knocked out, the participant will be eliminated. Hence, Liam, even though he wanted to, couldn't get enough space to execute spells properly.  The problem only increased as the level of spelling increased.
