Chapter 3: results pt1

At the start of the ten days there was still lots of fighting and it looked fairly even with wins on either side, but on the fifth day it became quiet. Marion felt confident nonetheless and paid it no mind until the 7th day when the goddess asked him "Are you not worried about losing even though it's been 3 days since the last skirmish?" "There is nothing to worry about because I know what they are doing. The longer they sit inside Troy, the less supplies they have. Sooner or later the Trojans will have to make a move or they will be too weak to suppress the next attack." Marion knew that the combined attacking armies were waiting them out and preparing for a final siege. "Well if they attack too late or not soon enough you will lose the bet. I believe in your deduction but I do believe in timing and efficiency." The goddess said while giving him an expectant look. 2 more days passed with no fighting but it was clear the trojans were running on fumes. On the 9th day though things changed. Before the sun rose a great sea of archers took up position behind a hill next to the city. As dawn broke a battalion of soldiers with siege towers stormed the front wall attracting the trojans out of cover and forcing them to try to repel the invaders. But it was too late, the moment the towers touched the wall the trojans knew something was wrong because the doors remained shut and there was no sound of soldiers inside. In a matter of seconds the archers climbed onto the hill and released a hail of arrows onto the guards on the wall and into the city. A third of the trojans were killed while the others were left confused and shocked. After the archers expended all the arrows the trojans started to breach the front door instead of scaling the wall leaving the few on the ground to curse as the many on the wall could only look helplessly as their fellow trojan brothers got massacred. "What's my bonus for being early?" Marion asked the goddess who kept a stoic expression but was as shocked as the soldiers at the situation.
