With a look of satisfaction and a second of hesitation the goddess put the contract back onto the table. "I am proud to say I underestimated you. I will now explain the rest of our deal." With this the rest of the blurred words became clear and the page doubled in length with plenty of empty space at the bottom. "To be frank I need a guardian. Every 500 years a door to another Gaia{Greek goddess of earth and what they called it} will open and I will need you to take a piece of me through to establish myself there as a god". After a second of silence with a confused look Marion responded bluntly "Why did you dress up as Athena if you are more like Gaia? Wouldn't that also be easier seeing as she is less clothed in depictions?" A depressed look spread across the goddesses face as a simpler farce was just explained to her that would also have been less work to keep up. "Huh I really should have thought of that earlier." She said in a whispery voice as her eyes started to well with tears. "Ah I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that to someone who is trying their best! " Marion was trying to make her feel better but instead made her bawl her eyes out. After a good while of helping her calm down they resumed the contract talk. "As I was saying I need you to become a great warrior and to do that I will be employing you to most every major conflict or war for training. I don't know what the other place will be like so I expect you to master or learn as much about combat as possible. You are to inhabit a person's body and take control of their soul and will gain their basic knowledge of the time from them. This will not set you back from the other soldiers but will allow you to still gain first hand experience. You will learn and adapt to every environment and become a master. But there is a catch. You will die constantly and the body's soul you controlled will die too. You will be responsible for the soul so try to avoid getting killed quickly. The soul will feel as if it's in control and you can give it partial control when out of combat if for whatever reason as well. We will also be in constant communication so I look forward to the many long chats we have ahead of us." The last part she said with a small grin and a little to giddily that betrayed her and truly expressed how lonely she had felt until then.
