Chapter 13 Surprise

Suddenly something burst into flames.

"Grandpa what's that thing you threw? ", asked Ben with fear, looking at the thing which burst into flames. Tim immediately brought out an extinguisher and got rid of the flames.

"That's nothing Ben, just one of my failed experiments", said Tim stuttering a bit, clearly hiding something. "Grandpa, what experiment were you doing?", said Ben with puppy eyes gleaming with curiosity. Tim knew how persuasive Ben can be and said the truth,

"Ben, I was trying to create a hoverboard to gift on your birthday and was going to finish it, there was a slight problem in the magnetic resonator and I was checking on its condition,

I spilled some water over it accidentally and this happened".

After hearing the reason, Ben hugged his Grandpa and told him to be careful and take care of his health, Tim looked at his grandson and felt joy in his heart and thought "He will grow up to be a fine man".

"Anyways, as I have let you know about your gift let us make it together", said Tim with a smile on his face.

Tim and Ben worked hard to complete the hoverboard. Ben customized the board suiting his tastes. He painted it completely with red and gold flames. Ben felt happy looking at the hoverboard both of them made.

"Ben, let's go eat lunch", said Tim, both of them went to Tim's house to eat.

"Ben make sure you practice how to use the hoverboard before using it ", said Tim while they went towards the house.

"Dear, I am home, Ben is with me", said Tim as he entered. "Both of you wash yourselves and come to the dining table, let's eat ", said Jessie coming out of her room.

They all sat down to eat and finished having a very hearty meal. "Grandpa do you have any blueprints for cyborg mods," asked Ben.

"Yes Ben I have, It's in the lab's cupboard", said Tim looking at the news on a very big TV.

"Ok grandpa I'll go and take a look", said Ben and went towards the lab." I wonder what he wants to do with blueprints ", thought Tim and continued watching the TV.

Ben went to the lab and looked for blueprints in the cupboard and found some blueprints. He took them and started to learn the blueprints, he finished looking through all the blueprints, suddenly a notification flashed in front of him.

Ben clicked on yes and another notification appeared, 'Blueprints acquired and can be used in creation center'.

"I'll check it later, let me go and see Ricky, it's about time for school to get over", thought Ben and went to the library. Ben's day went as usual. He went home and ate dinner, he completed his daily mission.

He went to bed and slept as he felt very sleepy.

He woke up the next day early in the morning and continued the routine. Today also he got the same daily mission, so he thought that he would receive the same mission till he leveled up again.

He finished his training in the dojo and cleaned himself.

Ben went home and opened the door, 'Surprise' everyone was waiting for him with a birthday cake. Ben totally forgot that today was his birthday. "Happy Birthday to you....", they sang together and made Ben cut the cake. Ben thanked everyone.

They showered him with gifts. Ben was a mature kid and didn't like to celebrate much, everyone knew this and they left to continue their routine lives. Ben felt happy as they had understood him well.

His grandparents alone stayed behind to help him open the gifts and they also wanted to talk to him about something.

Ben opened Ricky's present, it was a new smartwatch. Ben opened Tim's present and it was the hoverboard they designed together. Tim and Jessie also presented him Mark's Diary ." Ben, we also wanted to give you a large sum of credits we saved for you so that we can give it when you become a teenager as you may have some needs", said Jessie and transferred a huge sum of credits to Ben. "1,00,000 CREDITS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS MUCH AMOUNT IN MY LIFE", said Ben with joy and a shock-filled face.

"Don't worry Ben this is the amount that we got as gifts from patients we treated and we didn't want to use them, so we thought of presenting it to you after you have matured", said Tim smiling gleefully.

"THANK YOU", said Ben from the bottom of his heart.

He was still in the shock of getting this fortune, he opened up the present of his parents, It was a Virtual Reality game card and along with it, a letter was attached.

" We know that we couldn't spend a lot of time with you Ben, but we decided to do our best in buying you something which you can use to play the game you always wanted to play, even though we couldn't buy you the VR machine for playing the game, We brought you a game card which you can use in the nearest Game lounge for playing your favorite game, it's only valid for a year, We know this is not the best gift, but If you want anything to ask us, we promise to do anything in our power to do it."

Ben felt really happy reading the letter and also getting the gift. "I must thank them when they return", thought Ben.

"Ben let's go to the tailor shop to make your uniform ", said Ben's grandparents.

They went to the garage and took out the hovercar and went to the shop to give the measurements for his uniform. They went to the nearest ice cream parlor and ate ice cream and had lunch in the nearby hotel.

They spent the day happily and went home.
