Chapter 26 Sanctuary

Ben and his class entered the shelter and inside the shelter, they could see five different separate shelters with glasses covering it entirely like a bubble. They were very huge and had different habitats inside them, except for the habitat in the center which was plain and had cages placed inside them in various places, some beast cubs were left to wander here and there. An instructor came towards them and started to teach about the different types of beasts and the habitats around them, but he didn't mention anything about the different beasts placed in the central shelter. Out of curiosity one of the students asked about the central habitat to the instructor.

The instructor replied, "That shelter is used for bringing in beasts from the outside world, sometimes beasts which come here tend to grow without any powers or affinity towards the elements and they are placed in that shelter, But sometimes they are late bloomers and they tend to grow stronger than any species, So if you find any beast in that shelter interesting you can tame it, although I won't recommend you that unless you are too lucky."

The students started to mumble after they heard the instructor. The instructor brought the students to a path leading out of the shelter which they had just entered. The instructor pushed some buttons and a huge door opened up in front of them, and they could see a vast plain and some forest cover over the area.

"Welcome to the animal zoo", a robotic voice echoed through that area, when they entered the field. The animals were left to wander in certain areas and they were placed inside a completely sealed glass area so that they don't fight with other animals.

The students moved slowly observing every animal as they have never seen animals up close. There were wild animals and also domestic animals, the instructor slowly explained about each animal species as the students moved slowly behind him. Finding normal animals was very rare in this era, so they had to be contained and grown in special habitats which don't allow mutation to affect them, the instructor also explained about the plants because they were normal plants unlike the mutated ones found commonly.

Slowly they completed the tour and found a place to eat their lunch, after lunch was the important event of the day beast taming.

Everyone sat at different places forming groups and chatting.

Ben and his friends found a peaceful spot and they also settled. Ben hadn't shared about his eye to his friends. So he felt that it was the right time to do so.

So he explained about his eyes to his friends and they had a peaceful lunch, none of them asked questions and kept quiet the whole time Ben explained about his eye. They decided to keep it a secret as Ben might get into some trouble if others found about the eye.

Ben also explained its functions and they were discussing the beasts they wanted to tame and the lunchtime got over.

Everyone in the class was asked to form groups of six and each group was assigned a specific instructor. Ben and his friends formed a group and they were assigned their homeroom teacher Mr.Jacob as their instructor.

Ben wondered whether Mr.Jacob pulled some strings, just to be closer to his group as Kelly was on their group. Before getting assigned to an instructor everyone's combat power was tested using a machine. Everyone had combat power over 100 except for Ben whose was only 40. Some boys in his class shot a prideful look towards Ben as if they were showing off that they were stronger than him.

Ben didn't mind them and he slowly joined with his group. Teacher Jacob asked them what beasts they wanted to tame, Jasmine and Max said they wanted wind beasts. Ricky told he wanted a fire beast and Kelly wanted a water beast, Li Shin told he wanted earth beasts. "Ben what type of beast do you want" asked the teacher looking at Ben as he had not answered.

"Sir, I will choose after everyone has chosen a beast", said Ben with a confused look on his face as he had not decided the beast that he wanted to tame.

As Jasmine and Max both wanted to tame a wild beast from the wind habitat, the teacher decided to go to the wind habitat first. They entered the wind habitat and could see a lot of trees. The wind habitat looked very big and had a lot of beasts everywhere. The beast cubs were always with their mothers. The mother beasts were either tamed by the ones who caught them or beasts which were grown specifically for breeding, so they were made to be obedient to people who come to take their cubs so that they don't harm the people who try to take the cubs.

Another group that had come before Ben's group had already started the process to tame a wind zebra beast. One student stood in front of the beast and was trying to touch the cub, if the cub allowed to touch it then he has successfully tamed that cub, if not then he has to show his combat prowess by fighting with the cub, if it submits to him or if he managed to defeat it in battle then he has successfully tamed the cub.

After taming a beast some amount of blood from the tamer must be sprinkled on the beast, this makes the beast obedient to the tamer completely and gives the tamer ability to communicate through telekinesis. After a beast has been tamed by a person it doesn't change its owner until the person dies. A person can tame more than one beast, but they get harder to control if a person has tamed a huge number of beasts.

Ben activated his bionic eyes as he wanted to see what happens when a beast is tamed, he only activated it when necessary because he still didn't have complete control over the eyes and also because it consumes a lot of mod energy.

The wind zebra which the student wanted to tame had darkish green energy spreading all over its body and he realized it must be the elemental energy that the beast could control. He looked at the other cubs and the mother, each cub had different shades of green and every shade of green was lighter than the beast which the student tried to tame, which made Ben understand that the student was trying to tame the strongest cub among all the other cubs. The mother Zebra had the strongest color of green and the green enveloped its body, "Look's like my theory is correct, the color of the energy and the amount of energy around the beast, shows the potential of the beasts", thought Ben and silently watched.

The wind zebra cub allowed the student to touch him, the student shouted out in joy as the wind zebra had submitted to him. Wind Zebras were different than normal Zebras, they had sharp teeth and hazel eyes and their tails had sharp spikes all over them, they also have dark green and dark blue stripes instead of black stripes and their color is slightly greenish instead of white, and they were predators and they hunted in packs, they were known for their immense speed and control over the wind element, some of them can even fly.

Ben and his group watched this and were excited.

"What beast do you want to tame", asked Mr.Jacob to Jasmine slowly as they also had to tame their beasts before the end of the day.

"I want to tame a leaf dragon", said Jasmine with a smile on her face.

After hearing her request everyone looked at her with a worried face, because dragons were the rarest and the toughest beasts to tame and they tend to go out of control as they age, so people often don't choose dragons as their first beast.
